1 QUESTIONNAIRE 1. Do you support the joint US Army/County firearm range at Fort Carson? Please answer: Yes or No ABSOLUTELY!! For the first time, the county is able to provide adequate, mandated range services to our Sheriff's Office and make those ranges available to the public at the same time! Since this new range will sit on Ft. Carson property and is a collaborative effort with El Paso County, it belongs to all of you! I will not stand between you and your property, nor should any other politician. In addition, the 1st phase of the range will be built using private funds in conjunction with restricted park/developer funds and ALL net proceeds will go to benefit the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office of Ft. Carson. This supports our military members and their families. El Paso County is the most populous county in the State and we have some 19,000 concealed carry permit holders. The more access to shooting ranges that is available to the citizens of this county, the better for all of us and the preservation of our Second Amendment rights. 2. Do you believe there are reasonable limitations that government should place on law-abiding sane individual citizen's right to keep and bear arms? Please answer: Yes or No NO! If "yes", could you give an example or two of what you would consider reasonable limitations? The Second Amendment was not written with conditions. The Right to Bear Arms is NOT conditional and quite frankly, I believe our Founders understood this to be a protection from the overreach of government, therefore government must not place limitations on law-abiding sane individuals. 3. Do you support the right of law-abiding citizens to openly carry firearms within Colorado, including open carry in government buildings? Please answer: Yes or No _YES! / support this right in unsecured buildings and as an elected official myself, I'd rather SEE the firearm in our public meetings than have it concealed anyway!! I know that some other elected officials may not agree with this, but the fact is that whether a sign on the door says you may or may not open carry, that has no impact whatsoever on the safety of those within the buildings. Let me give some examples of secured buildings; the courthouse, the jail, the Sheriff's Office, airport terminals, etc. These are buildings that actually have metal detectors or specific law enforcement/security requirements. These buildings are not appropriate for carry for obvious reasons. 4. Do you support the right of concealed carry permit holders to carry concealed in county buildings? Please answer: Yes or No YES! / support the right of concealed carry permit holders to carry concealed in ALL unsecured buildings! See question #3. 5. Do you support the current state law prohibiting concealed carry permit holders from carrying concealed within public schools? Please answer: Yes or No NO!

2 This is a frustrating and perplexing law! We have had so many tragedies within our nation's schools and yet somehow, certain legislators believe that it makes sense to create so-called "safe zones" by eliminating the one and only defense that we have against insane people bent on killing students. Why on earth would we prevent law-abiding, conceal carry permit holders from keeping with them the one and only thing that would protect children/students from being sitting ducks? The only thing that can protect a student from a gunman, is a gun! As a mother of three, this issue is of profound importance to me and I would use any amount of influence I have to change this law in order to be able to protect our children/students. 6. Do you believe the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution affirms every individual's right to keep and bear arms and that the Colorado Constitution reaffirms that right? Please answer: Yes or No YES! When one commits a crime and is convicted of a felony, one forfeits those rights. I happen to believe that some people convicted of a felony, a non-violent felony committed without using a firearm, should eventually be considered for restoration of their Second Amendment rights. 7. Do you belong to any firearm-related organizations; such as the NRA, PPFC, RMGO, GOA? Please answer: Yes or No YES! If Yes, would you list those you belong to? / am an NRA member and long time PPFC member as well as a member if the PPFC PAC. 8. Federal studies have shown that citizens with concealed carry permits are more law-abiding, as a group, than the general public. Will you oppose the creation of a Colorado state wide database of concealed carry permit holders and the creation of any state or local database that in any way mingles any information about permit holders with that of criminals or suspects? Please answer: Yes or No YES! Concealed carry permit holders ARE NOT CRIMINALS and they must not be co-mingled in ANY law enforcement governmental data base. 9. Currently federal and state laws allow 18 to 20 year old law-abiding citizens to buy rifles and shotguns or possess handguns. Would you support laws that would further restrict 18 to 20 year olds rights to purchase or possess a firearm? Please answer: Yes or No NO! Old enough to fight to defend this nation, old enough to buy and possess firearms! 10. Do you support the bill currently in the state legislature that would prevent restrictions on the sale of firearms and ammunition or confiscation of firearms during a declared state of emergency? Please answer: Yes or No YES! / am not sure that I can think of a more sobering attempt to decimate our Second Amendment rights than to have the government declare that in a state of emergency, we have to hand them over and not buy the

3 supplies we need?! When else, other than in a declared state of emergency, would we quite possibly most need to defend our families? It is hard to fathom that the government would attempt such a thing and I will support any bill that protects and strengthens our rights! 11. As the county governing body, if the need were to arise for you to declare a state of emergency in El Paso County, would you include restrictions on the possession of firearms in that declaration? Please answer: Yes or No _ABSOLUTELYNOTH Wo way, no how! There is absolutely no correlation between the declaration of a state of emergency and the confiscation or restriction of firearms - other than a governmental attempt to strip us of our Second Amendment rights. 12. Some proposed laws would limit gun ownership based on the appearance of the firearm or the caliber. Would you oppose any law that limits lawful citizens from owning a specific firearm based on its appearance, cosmetic features, or caliber? Please answer: Yes or No YES! The appearance or caliber of a gun has nothing whatsoever to do with its safe handling. Gun safety and ownership has nothing to do with the firearm itself, but the individual who possesses it. Restricting firearms based on appearance or caliber is illogical and sets us on a slippery slope toward more arbitrary, unjustified firearms control. 13. Do you own a firearm? Please answer: Yes or No SEVERAL! Long guns and pistols. 14. Do you believe gun owners should be required to register their firearms? Please answer: Yes or No NO! As stated earlier, our Second Amendment rights for law-abiding sane individuals do not come with conditions. 15. Do you believe there should be a limit on the number of firearms any one individual may purchase in any specific time period? Please answer: Yes or No NO! Referring again to the fact that there are no conditions on our Second Amendment rights for law-abiding sane citizens, there is no justification for a restriction on purchases within a certain time period. There is no arbitrary number that would somehow be justified to impose and no arbitrary number that could be articulated to protect the public from a problem that does not exist. 16. Do you believe there should be a limit on the number of firearms any one individual may own? Please answer: Yes or No NO! The number of guns an individual owns has no negative impact on the safety of those around them and is none of the government's business.

Do you support upholding the state law (SB25, passed in 2003) that prohibits localities, even Home Rule entities, from limiting the rights of citizens to purchase, possess, or carry firearms (including open carry)? Please answer: Yes or No YES! While I strongly support local control, this is or US Constitutional right. We cannot allow "localities" to supersede our Constitutional, Second Amendment rights. These rights are universal, regardless of the structure of any local municipality or county. 18. Do you support the passage of "safe storage" laws or ordinances that make it difficult for a law abiding citizen to keep a firearm in a condition ready to defend their family? Please answer: Yes or No NO! Just when I think a previous question describes one of the most perplexing, illogical laws or propositions, another comes along. This is truly ridiculous. Second Amendment rights are simple. They are basic. They are foundational. Allowing citizens to keep and bear arms - that are unloaded - would be laughable if it were not so dangerous. Obviously, our rights inherently demand that our firearms are loaded and available for our defense whenever necessary. Period. Would we use a pen that has no ink? 19. In some jurisdictions, stolen firearms that have been used in crimes are often ordered destroyed rather then returned to the rightful owners. Would you support a law that would require stolen firearms be returned to the lawful owner? Please answer: Yes or No YES! "If guns kill people, then spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat." This little comparison has brought a giggle to the minds of so many of us. And yet, think about it. We destroy a perfectly good firearm just because a criminal stole it and/or used it in the commission of a crime? Somehow, in the minds of those who seek to restrict our rights, this is supposed to make the crime less committed? This is supposed to turn back time and fix the crime? Of course not! Return the guns to their owners and if they were actually owned by the convicted criminal, allow law enforcement to sell them on the open market. 20. Sportsmen/women in Colorado face a problem of not having access to forest land where hunting and other recreational activities are allowed. Would you support legislation to increase access to publicly owned lands for recreational purposes, including hunting? Please answer: Yes or No ABSOLUTE!. Y! More access! More Freedom! Currently the Colorado Springs municipal code states, in part: C. For purposes of this section, "display" means any opening, or unfolding, manifestation, exhibition, ostentatious showing, or exhibition for effect meant to intimidate, threaten, alarm, or frighten any person. D. It shall be an affirmative defense that the actor displayed the weapon in self-defense, or to defend another person, or to defend the actor's premises or property. 5 21. In effect, Colorado Springs code allows one to "menace" an aggressor to protect one's self, family, or property. Would you support a change to the Colorado State law that would allow the presentation of a firearm as a less than lethal show of force to protect one's self, family, or property? Please answer: Yes or No YES! What good is my right to self defense if I cannot show a potential threat that I am willing to use deadly force, without fear of prosecution for doing so? What sense does it make that I would actually have to shoot someone just to be in accordance with the law, when just the display of my willingness to use deadly force might enough to deter a criminal? 22.
