Competition Dates Pencak Silat competition for Asia Pacific Masters Games 2018 (APMG 2018) offers each athlete the opportunity to compete in multiple disciplines at the Games. Venue Contact Competition Details 4.1. Competition Rules Apart from the rules listed, the competition will be conducted in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) and International Pencak Silat Competition Regulation Any unforeseen circumstances which are not specified will be decided with relevance to the existing regulations as follows: All general events will be decided based on the GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS implied by PERSILAT Any technical dispute will be decided based on the laws and regulations of PERSILAT. All decisions made by the Technical Committee and the Silat Championship Competition are absolute decisions. 2

3 4.2. Hours of Competition All events will begin at 0900 hrs. All events expected to finish at approximately 2300 hrs or earlier. **Based on the registration, a detailed schedule will be given during the registration on 10 September Competition Format TANDING (Match) TANDING (Match) category features 2 (two) participants who engage in combat in the competition arena. The participants confront each other by using the elements of self-defence and attack permitted in the rules and regulations of pencak silat. Each match consists of 3 rounds with each round lasting 2 minutes. All matches in the Tanding competition will be in elimination (knockout) format QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS The Tanding (Match) event will be contested in two (2) different age categories: - a) years old b) 45 years old and above Participants must submit a copy of Malaysian identity card (for Malaysian citizens) or a copy of the Passport (for International participants) and medical report verified by a doctor at the time of registration. Participants must be in the exact weight classes as set out by the International Pencak Silat Competition Regulation 2015 rules and regulations. 3

4 WEIGHING PROCESS All participants will be weighed and recorded to determine the competition class. Every participant is required to wear a complete silat attire without body protector during the weighing process. Contestants who fail to maintain their weight as registered during the remeasurement of the weighing process will be disqualified to compete further in accordance with the International Pencak Silat Federation Sports Competition rules and regulations SENI (ARTISTIC) SOLO KREATIF (SINGLES) & GANDA (DOUBLES) The Solo Kreatif (Singles) & Ganda (Doubles) events will be contested in two (2) different age categories: - a) years old b) 45 years old and above Each performance in the Solo Kreatif (Singles) & Ganda (Doubles) events must not exceed three (3) minutes. The competition will be conducted using the 'Pool' system whereby a participant will be randomly placed into one of two groups. Three (3) participants with the highest scores from each group will qualify for the final round of matches. The organiser has the discretion to alter the number of eligible participants/pairs to the final round. However, any amendments or decisions will be notified to the teams before the start of the competition COMPETITION ROUTINE The contestants are allocated three (3) minutes to perform. 4

5 SOLO KREATIF (SINGLES): Solo Kreatif is a singles event. Only one contestant is allowed in the arena at a time. He or she will showcase a solo routine - without weapons, before moving on to the armed (weapons) segment. GANDA (DOUBLES): Groups of two will participate in the Ganda (Doubles) category. They will showcase a three-minute routine, taking turns to perform unarmed and armed routines. During the armed routine, each pair may use two (2) types of weapons or more WEAPONS The contestants are given the freedom to choose the weapon of choice to perform. However, to further ensure the safety of the competitors, the weapons used should meet the safety and aggregate features eg. blunted weapons. The weapons used must be of the type commonly used in the Kepulauan Nusantara (eg. A Golok/Parang And Toya (Long Stick), Keris, Pisau, Clurit And Trisula.) All weapons that will be used must be submitted to the Competition Committee for inspection prior to the competition. 4.4 Registration and Medals For pencak silat, the age of a participant is determined as at 31 December Each participant in APMG 2018 Pencak Silat competition can register up to a maximum of 3 events. Where there are insufficient entries in an age category, the categories may be combined in order to conduct a viable competition. The awarding of medals will not be affected, that is, participants will be awarded medals in the age category they originally entered. Medals will be awarded as follows for each category: TANDING (MATCH) 1. Champion - Gold Medal (1) 2. 1st runner up - Silver Medal (1) 3. 2nd runner up - Bronze Medal (2) 5

6 4.4.2 KREATIF SOLO (SINGLES) 1. Champion - Gold Medal (1) 2. 1st runner up - Silver Medal (1) 3. 2nd runner up - Bronze Medal (1) GANDA (DOUBLES) 1. Champion - Gold Medal (2) 2. 1st runner up - Silver Medal (2) 3. 2nd runner up - Bronze Medal (2) The medals presentation ceremony will be held on the same day after the completion of an event. 4.5 Technical Delegate Competition Director, Technical Delegate, Competition Chairman, Council of Referee-Jury, Referee and Jury will be appointed by the Malaysia Silat Federation (PESAKA). Each competition is conducted by officials accredited by Malaysia Silat Federation (PESAKA). Final decisions made by the referees are absolute. 5 Equipment All Participants are required to supply their own equipment and ensure it complies with the relevant rules. Equipment checks will be carried out by the Technical Delegate / Technical Officials prior to the competition. 6 Sports Attire For Asia Pacific Masters Games Pencak Silat events, the attire allowed for the competition are martial arts attire and in accordance to the Rules of the Pencak Silat set by PERSILAT. 6

7 Contestants are given the freedom to choose Pencak Silat clothing from standard models of any color choices (pants (celana) and shirts may be of the same or different colors) and wear headband and side cloth (kain samping). The choices and color combinations are at the discretion of the contestants. 7 Accommodation The APMG 2018 organisers recommend the following selected hotels for Pencak Silat participants based on location and accessibility to the competition venue: - Equatorial Hotel Penang - Vistana Hotel Penang - The Olive Tree Hotel However, participants are free to select their own accommodation according to own preference. To assist participants, an accommodation booking section offering special room rates for the Games is made available on the official website 8 Registration Fees The registration fee for Pencak Silat is as per below: - REGISTRATION FEES RM 100 Malaysian USD International Administration Fee For International Masters Games Association (IMGA) USD % GST Up to 3 Events 7

8 9 Objections Every participant is eligible to lodge an official protest. Objections must be made in written form with a protest payment consisting USD in cash form only. Each objection shall be sent to the Head of the Competition within ten (10) minutes after the decision is announced.
