3 MSA confirms Motor Sports Council decisions regarding Frontal Head Restraints Motor Sports Council, the MSA s rule-making body, has voted to mandate the use of Frontal Head Restraints in Stage Rallying, Hill Climb and Sprint with certain exceptions in each from 2016 onward. The decisions were taken yesterday (9 June) at the second of Council s three meetings in 2015, held at Motor Sports House. After a very lengthy debate, it was decided that from 1 January 2016 an FIA-approved FHR will be mandatory for all Stage Rally competitors, except for those in Historic Category One vehicles, for whom it will be a recommendation in 2016 and mandatory from It was also decided that from 1 January 2016 an FIA-approved FHR will be mandatory for all Hill Climb and Sprint competitors, except for those in Period Defined Vehicles, Road-going Series Production Cars and Road-going Specialist Production Cars. Nonetheless, it will be recommended for those excepted competitors. The relevant new regulations along with all others approved by Motor Sports Council yesterday will be published in due course. Tony Scott Andrews, Chairman of Motor Sports Council, said: This is an important decision, which I appreciate will not be universally popular; I understand that it will place an additional financial burden on competitors and I empathise with those affected. I do however believe that the governing body has a responsibility to ensure so far as possible the safety of its competitors and the decision has been taken in pursuit of that aim. We believe that an FHR has become as much a part of a competitor s safety equipment as a seat, belts, protective clothing and helmet. We were very keen to announce this particular regulation change immediately in order to give competitors as much notice as possible. Website: Twitter: Facebook: & 25/26 September 2015 Dear Fellow Marshal As you can see the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire incorporates two events: The Trackrod Forest Stages which offers 45 Stage Miles and the Trackrod Historic Cup which offers 53 stage miles including two Stages on Friday night. Between them there are no less than 14 National and Regional Championships. The event is again based at the popular Pickering Showground where Scrutineering, Service, Documentation, Regroup, Start and Finish will all take place over the two days. A recent route survey has shown that the roads within the nearby Yorkshire Forests are all in excellent condition in readiness for the Rally. The route is designed to avoid the long straights in Dalby but with some new twists as well! Your assistance would be greatly appreciated on both Friday night and during the day Saturday so please get in touch if you can help saying when you are available. 4 Hi All Some of you may have already received the below from Jon Binns, he has confirmed to me today, that CVMC as a club, have been allocated to the Brenig Stage again to assist Jon and Buccaneer to run the stage. It is double usage so we will be there early and we will be there all day. Jon has allocated 70 spaces to us which I suspect will fill up really quickly, so I need to know who wants to attend. If you want to be part of the club team for Brenig, PLEASE DON T REGISTER YOURSELF VIA RALLYSTAGETEAM.CO.UK but drop me an and I ll get you registered with our team and sort out passes, junction allocations etc. If you could let me know the names and addresses (if they have them) of all the people who are coming with your that would be great and club members will be given priority over non club members.
