12 May Run High Desert Roundup Page 12 The club has decided to support the Cal 4-Wheel Drive Assoc. and we will be hosting the much acclaimed Potato Race and The Drifter s Dog fund raiser! As you may have read, the South District has moved the base camp and the games to behind and near the Slash-X. The idea was to make access to the camp area easier, (many people would not take their equipment into the old camp area) thus maybe helping the turn-out for the event. Last year was the first at this location and this year should be bigger and better! The games will be in the near-by hills adjacent to the Slash-X. The trail bosses are totally behind this event and are looking for the members to come out and help. If not for the weekend, please come out on race day which is SUNDAY! Putting on the game requires people and members to make it happen! We need someone to bring the tires (7) the BBQ, Hot dogs, drinks, tables, etc. Time slips have been ordered. The race is scheduled to run from 9:00am until 3:00pm. If you have a shade/ez-up please bring it, as it can get warm. Also, don t forget your hats, sunscreen, and lots of cold drinks! We will be selling Drifter Dogs and cold drinks in the registration area! (So, why pack a lunch?) We also need all members to bring a 10 lb. bag of Potatoes. (No French Fries) The Potato Race is one of the games that we have done for many years, and many people come to the Hi Desert Round-Up and look forward to running our event! All the proceeds from the Drifter Dogs fund raiser go the association to help fight land closures! Everything we need to make this a huge success is ready, now all we need is YOUR SUPPORT! Looking forward to seeing you all at The High Desert Round-Up and Potato Race! Dave Peifer (Potato Race Chairman) Trial Bosses: Rick Buckley Jr John Williams Arnold Taffoya Daryl Romano Norm Gerwien
