1 February 2008 It was a cold and foggy afternoon as we carefully drove down the frozen country road in southern Michigan.. maybe I should just stick to writing my column and forget about writing a new suspense novel? LOL But, that pretty much described the conditions as we headed south to Dennis & Bonnie Edwards home for our January Club meeting. I want to thank them for opening up their home to us for the meeting. The turnout was a little small (by our usual standards) but the strange weather certainly had a lot to do with that. Those that did brave the conditions were treated to a warm welcome, good food and great company. Thanks again! WMCC February Club Meeting: This is typically our slow time of year for Club activities. However, we still always manage to hold our monthly Club meetings and this months meeting will be on Sunday, Feb. 3, We will be meeting at Brann s Steakhouse and Grille located at th Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI ( ). This is just east of the intersection of 28 th Street and I-96 on the east side of Grand Rapids. The meeting will be at 1pm. Christi Falkenhagen has arranged the banquet room for our meeting. We will be able to order from the regular menu. (but remember, you are in no obligation to order anything, so don t miss the meeting) February 2008 The View from the top. By Doug Warren, WMCC President Grand Rapids Autorama report: First off, I want to thank those that volunteered to put their Camaros in our Club display. Without your participation, we would simply have no Club display. Secondly, I want to thank everyone that took the time to help set up our display and help insure that all the cars were delivered safe and sound. And finally, I want to thank everyone that helped out with working the Exhibitors Lounge through out the weekend. And I especially want to thank Christi Falkenhagen for volunteering to take charge of the Exhibitors Lounge all weekend. This made my weekend much less stressful than usual, and I m truly grateful for that. The weather really helped this year as well. With a few people driving their cars, move-in and set up was done in record time. I think we were all tore down and on our way home on Sunday night earlier than usual, too. See pictures from the show on pages 2 & 3. Big F-body show in Indy in Sept.: Well, all the details are still not worked out for this much anticipated show. (At the time of this writing) We will make sure to everyone as soon as we know anything more. However, many Club members have already made reservations at the Brickyard Crossing Motel which is located right at the Indy Speedway. 2 Congratulations ~ Note from Steve O. We had our first grandchild born into our world on Jan 10th at 10:58pm. Elaina Manzana Juarez was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 18 inches long. Jeni is doing exceptionally well and Paul is a very proud daddy!! They will be going home today (Sat 1-12). Kathy and I held vigil along with Great grandpa and Grandma O. at Metro until Elaina was born. What a great experience and I am looking forward to having Elaina cut my lawn in a couple of years!! 3 WMCC Caribbean Cruise Figured a cold wintery day like today was a great time to talk some more folks into going with us!!! Most of us are leaving for Ft. Lauderdale on Feb 8. Partying in Ft Lauderdale on Friday and Saturday with my sister hosting a cookout at her house on Saturday evening. Sunday we board the Carnival Liberty. One of their newest and largest cruise ships. Monday we are in Key West, Tuesday is a "Fun Day" on the water, Wed is our day in Grand Cayman, Thurs we spend Valentines Day in Ocho Rios Jamaica, Fri is another day on the water, and Sat we are back in Ft Lauderdale for the trip back to the frozen north. We currently have 5 couples signed up. The last cruise my wife and I did was AWESOME. Our favorite days were the days on the water. Nothing to do but lay around on deck and drink fruity drinks. GET OUT OF THE COLD AND COME WITH US!!! More pictures of Autorama 3

4 January 2008 Meeting: At the home of Dennis & Bonnie Edwards PRESENT: Doug and Anita Warren, Dennis and Ronnie Mykols, Marc Bouman, Gary & Shelley Crippin, Teresa Lins, Dave & Angie Kemp, John & Christi Falkenhagen, Bob Donker, Al and Jan Boyer, Paul and Wendy Murphy, Patrick and Carla Long, Ray and Jeannie Shafer, Dennis & Bonnie Edwards. Jan stated we would help Bob and Vicky at Autorama. Main topic of discussion today is Autorama. Jan stated that Brad called today and stated his trailer is available. Doug stated we have several cars to bring. Edlunds will not have their car in show due to family death. We will have a 1968 replacing Edlunds. (black car) Doug stated because of lack of space we couldn t use our canopies. Doug requested ideas from. Cars will include Red 68, Orange 69 prostreet, Bob G s hot rod, Dave s Z-28, Stuart s SS, Marc s Z28, Bob s copo and the black 68. Suggestions of extending stanchions with cone type tubes and possibly paint to look like crayons. Gary suggested we use rope lighting and bring things from home to use to create a car dealer exhibit. Doug suggested we run black and white banners around top of display and rope lights down lower. Doug stated that we have an 8 car spots. Doug stated we have clear packing tape to put lights down. Doug stated as far as he knows we may need to haul 5 cars. We will be moving things in by noon on Thursday for Autorama. Gary asked who will be hauling trailers and who needs to pick up what. We are planning on lining up at 6-7 a.m. by the museum on the one way street. Stuart will need to be trailered and he is in Byron Center. Doug stated he has not heard back from Berger but will let Gary know if that trailer will be available. Doug stated he will call everyone and make arrangements as he get more information. Christi stated she will also help call people. Christi requested everyone bring two-way radios. Ray S. volunteered to help get cars but would like owner be with him and owner to drive car out of the trailer. Everyone will bring some movies to play on the DVD player in the lounge. We need to be careful to make our movies project good clean fun. We will not be able to sit in our display. Doug stated he will be going over supplies list with Christy prior to Thursday. February Meeting will be the 3 rd and will be held in Grand Rapids at Brann s, Christi will check and get arrangements on 28 th street. September Indianapolis show. Gary stated he has reservations at Brickyard Crossing Hotel $70.00 per night within walking distance of the track. There are rooms available at the Holiday Inn Express and Mariott by the airport. New guests here are Paul and Wendy Murphy, they are joining club and he has 1980 Camaro that has 51,000 miles with lots of updates. Dust Off: First Sunday in May 4. That will be our club meeting also. Doug stated because we are not doing Superfest we would like to have a meet/greet on Friday night for the 28 th Street Cruise. Berger show will be on August 22-23, Jan inquired as to shirts and it was decided to be the same. Dennis stated he would like to see if Mackinaw is an option for our fall color tour this year. Possibly rent Driftwood Motel /can have a fire. Let s plan for October th. Gary would like everyone to plan Cedar Point trip for July 4 th weekend. Gary will send our information. Doug wanted to remind everyone that the weekend after Autorama is the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. May is the Year One Experience Car Show. May 24 th is the Lane Car Show. Last weekend in May is the Michigan F-Body meet and greet. Doug states he will add information to calendar as he receives more information 4
