1 McNab News Phone: mcnabca@sasktel.net Winter 2013/14 Volume 1 Issue 8 Chairperson s Message During this holiday season, on behalf of the McNab Community Association Executive, I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. A big thank you goes to the many volunteers in our Community because of them we had another successful year. Volunteers serve on our executive and as members at large on the community association and with our neighbourhood watch, they water the trees and flower pots in the park, help out with our clean-up days, the Picnic in the Park, our Garden Contest and deliver newsletters. (Unfortunately our Picnic in the Park was rained out this year but will be back in 2014). I would also like to acknowledge our hard working executive: Tanya Vellenoweth for serving as our vice-chair and newsletter co-ordinator Connie Larose for her over 25 years as being our treasurer Grace Lekivetz for being our secretary Helen Burton our sign and social co-ordinator. Doreen Cochrane and Joe Jozsa for being our community affairs co-ordinators. Doreen also oversees the distribution of our newsletters. Cory & Jenn Sawchyn for maintaining our website Dorothy Rhead for being environmental/graffiti co-ordinator Dennis Lynnes for being our representative on the West Zone Board Harvey Murchison for overseeing the installation and care of the trees in the park A special thank you to Gateway Christian Fellowship Church for providing us with space to hold our monthly meetings. Also to Kathie Murchison for co-ordinating the planting and watering of the flower pots along 11 th Avenue.
2 McNab Community Association works with the City of Regina to continue improvements to our community and provides input into how to make our communities better. This year we added two benches around the ball diamond and another picnic table. We are supported in our endeavors by our Community Consultant and the Community Development, Recreation and Parks Department. We participated in Design Regina and in the City of Regina s Neighbourhood Support Model sessions. We are part of the West Zone Board which offers the soccer, skating, hockey and taekwondo programs throughout the year. These programs are always in our newsletters. We invite everyone to come out to our monthly meetings regularly held on the second Monday of the month (unless a holiday), starting at 6:30 p.m. at Gateway. Check our sign for monthly notices of our meetings.
