1 Dear Wrestling Friends, I am glad to invite all National Federations and Committees to participate in the 4 World Wrestling Games that will take place in Siauliai (Lithuania) from 11 to 13 September The World Wrestling Games will be the occasion for the non-olympic styles governed by FILA to gather together in a friendly atmosphere, but also to conduct major events. The host of the event, Mr. Gintautas Vileita, President of the World Belt Wrestling Committee will organize the World Belt Wrestling Championship for the first time within the frame of the World Wrestling Games. The World Ssireum Federation that joined FILA at the beginning of this year will also host its World Championship on this occasion. As per Pankration, the World Pankration Athlima Committee will organize its third World Championship in the styles of Palaismata, Polydamas and Pankration Athlima. The grappling event will also be of major importance since the World Grappling Committee will hold the first senior European Championship and the first Veteran World Championship in the Gi and No-Gi divisions. The World Wrestling Games will conclude with an open Beach Wrestling competition and demonstration of traditional wrestling that will be part of the city celebrations taking place at the same dates in the streets of Siauliai. The ambition of FILA through the organization of the World Wrestling Games is to show to the world the beauty and universality of wrestling in its various embodiments. Belt Wrestling, Ssireum, Pankration, Grappling, and Beach Wrestling are experiencing a great success nowadays and I am convinced that they will become leading sports in many countries. 2 WORLD BELT WRESTLING & SSIREUM CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPATION 1. All National Federations duly affiliated to FILA can participate in the Championship. 2. Countries may enter as many participants by category as they wish. 3. Each competitor must have a valid FILA licence and a valid passport. Those who did not purchase their licence in advance will be able to do so at accreditation. They will be asked to show their passport, provide a picture and pay the annual licence fee of 100 CHF, or 80 EUR, or 100 USD. 4. Each competitor must be 20 or older. Competitors aged 18 and 19 will be allowed to participate upon presentation of a medical consent. Age and nationality will be checked with the passport at the weigh-in. 5. Final entries must be sent to FILA (info@fila-beltwrestling.com) before 11 August The final list of competitors must be presented to the competition secretariat on 10 September 2009 before 5 pm. 7. The delegations that submit their entries before 11 August 2009 will benefit from an accommodation fee of 120 CHF or 80 EUR per day, including board, lodging, and local transport. Upon agreement with the organizer, it will be possible for the delegations to transfer the total amount of accommodation fees to the organizer s account. Otherwise, the team leaders will have to settle their financial obligations cash at accreditation. 8. The daily accommodation fee for the delegations that submit their entries after 11 August 2009 will be 150 CHF or 100 EUR. 9. The organizer will take care of booking the hotels for the delegations benefitting from the accommodation package. All hotels have been approved by FILA. 10. In conformity with the FILA regulations, each team that has been entered for the championship but does not turn up, or turns up with fewer competitors or accompanying members than originally announced, will be held responsible for and have to pay half of the hotel costs for all individuals previously entered. 11. Athletes competing in the championship are under the exclusive responsibility of their National Federation through their respective coaches. Any breach of the rules will be sanctioned according to the WBWC/FILA Disciplinary Regulations. 12. All delegations must arrive a maximum of 48 hours before the competition and leave at the latest at noon on the day after the end of the championship. The delegations will be welcomed by the organising Committee upon their arrival in Riga International Airport or Vilnius International Airport and will be driven to the accreditation place and to their hotels. 13. A shuttle service will transport the participants from the hotels to the competition site. Transport schedules will be posted in each hotel. 1

3 TECHNICAL CONDITIONS 1. Each participating team must be present at the opening ceremony according to the organising committee's instructions. 2. The belt wrestling competition will take place according to the FILA International Belt Wrestling Regulations on two FILA approved mats. 3. The Ssireum competition will take place on a regulatory competition area covered with mounded sand. 4. The belt wrestling competition will take place in the official weight categories: Men 70, 80, 90, +90kg, Open and Women 57, 63, +63kg, Open. 5. The Ssireum competition will take place in the official weight categories: Men 90, kg, Open and Women 60-90kg. 6. No weight allowance will be accepted 7. Each competitor will be requested to undergo a medical check before the official weigh-in. 8. The FILA licence covers medical assistance to the wrestlers in the event of an accident occurring during the competition. If a competitor wishes to have a medical examination or receive a treatment that is not linked to an accident that happened during the competition, either he/she or his/her National Federation will be entitled to bear the related costs. 9. Each belt wrestling competitor will be required to wear a regulatory competition uniform, that is: white trousers and a blue or green jacket held by a strong flexible red belt. 10. Each Ssireum competitor will be required to wear a regulatory competition uniform, that is: red or blue tight shorts and red or blue strong flexible belts. 11. Individual prizes will be given to each weight category: 1 st place 1 gold medal, certificate 2 nd place 1 silver medal, certificate 3 rd places 2 bronze medals, certificates 5 th 10 th places certificates 12. The first three teams in each style will receive a cup. 13. The national anthem will be played for each individual and team champion. REFEREES 1. Only the FILA certified referees with a valid 2009 licence may work in the competition. 2. All referees must attend the seminar that will be organized on 10 September New candidate referees will also be allowed to participate in the seminar in order to obtain their certification. 4. All referees must wear the regulatory competition uniform. 2
