3 Where we are The Modern Pentathlon Association of Ireland (MPAI) was established in 2003 and re-branded at Pentathlon Ireland (PI) in 2009 alongside the emergence of the High Performance Programme. The last three years saw exponential growth in the HPP, culminating in the qualification of two athletes to the London 2012 Olympic Games. Natalya Coyle achieved one of Ireland s highest Olympic results, placing 9 th in the last day of competition while Arthur Lanigan- O Keeffe finished in 25 th in the men s event. Since the first programme medal by Eanna Bailey in 2009, the HPP athletes have produced an impressive resume of results: 2 Olympic athletes Junior Bronze Medalist 2 Top 10 finishes at World level 4 Top 15 finishes at World level 3 ISC Carded athletes The HPP was first recognized by the Irish Sports Council in 2010 and received nominal funding. Consistent growth on an annual basis has secured further funding from both the ISC the Olympic Council of Ireland and invaluable support from the Irish Institute of Sport. Natalya Coyle was also a beneficiary of the International Olympic Council s Olympic Solidarity award in support of her endeavors to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games. The conclusion of the Olympic year, see the HPP in a very strong position going forward to the next Olympiad. Growing awareness and recognition in Ireland has led to a commitment from the National Sports Campus Development Agency to develop a purpose built training facility on the National Sports Campus in Dublin. How we re going to get there The Pentathlon Ireland HPP Strategic Plan for 2013 2016 relies on a detailed annual review and planning process to ensure that benchmarks are met along the way.

Investment Plan source funding for HP competitions & preparations as well as sourcing budgets for human resources and programme overheads. HPP Management looking at athlete management, interaction with coaches & support staff and communication within the HPP. Building on existing review processes for both athletes and the HPP system.
