2 General Information These Championships are open to athletes 8 years of age or older on 31 December The organisers reserve the right to restrict the number of entries, to amalgamate classes with insufficient numbers and adjust the timetable on the day of the competition. Cancellations, Withdrawals & Refunds By entering this competition you have agreed to the conditions of our withdrawal policy: If Pentathlon Ireland cannot supply any phase of the competition then each entrant, of the relevant phase, will receive a refund for the cancelled phase. No refund is possible for withdrawal for any reason, once the closing date has passed. Competition entries are not transferable. An Entry is only valid if: Pentathlon Ireland membership is fully paid up. It is the responsibility of the athlete to ensure membership has been paid. Non-members cannot compete. All requested information is completed in official entry form and legible. Payment is made in full prior to competition. Master A age group athletes may move down one age group to Senior should they want to compete in the Open perpetual competition. Should an athlete move age group they may not win in the age group they have left. Events: Athletes (Youth C Masters) can choose to do the full pentathlon or tetrathlon (no riding), or triathlon (swimming, running & shooting). The number of athletes competing in the riding event may be limited due to horse availability. Athletes not able to ride will only be charged for the tetrathlon fee only.

3 Event Details The following is a summary of the event and main rules. Full rules can be viewed online at Date: FENCING: Epée fencing in a pool unique. One hit in one minute. If neither fencer has scored a hit within the time limit a double defeat will be recorded. 70% of bouts won scores 1,000 points. Age groups/gender may be amalgamated. Small pools may fight a two or three hit competition. Limited range of fencing gear will be available but competitors are advised to source own gear; Each Competitor should have two working Epées & bodywires. All competitors must be correctly dressed and protected in fencing kit at the following minimum standard: o Fencing Jacket - minimum 350N (CE level 1). o Fencing Breeches - minimum 350N (CE Level 1). o Protective Underplastron - 800N (CE Level 2). o Mask - Bib 350N (CE Level 1). o Female competitors must wear a chest protector made from a rigid material or metal. The Fencing Director and Fencing Referee have the authority to exclude and eliminate any competitor unable or unwilling to change into clothing that complies with the rules. SWIM: Freestyle race against the clock. Heats will be seeded according to time submitted on entry forms. 10 x 25m pool 50m 40secs = 1,000 points (± 12 points per 1/3rd sec) 100m 1min 14secs = 1,000 points (± 8 points per 1/3rd sec) (Masters 100m 1min 18secs = 1,000 points ± 4 points per 1/2 sec) 200m 2min 30secs = 1,000 points (± 4 points per 1/3rd sec) RIDING: A Riding Certificate appropriate to the Class entered must be lodged at the Competitions Office before the closing date. The height and number of fences will be in accordance with the rules. All competitors must wear protective headgear with the chinstrap firmly fastened at all times while mounted - including during the warming up period. The Riding hat must conform to one of the following International Standards: o PAS 015:1998, EN1384: both of these need to have the BSI Kite mark. o ASTM F a - plus the SEI Global label. o SNELL E2001 plus the E2001 Snell label. RUN: Time race against the clock on a mixed surface: 95% Grass, 5% concrete. Spikes can be worn at athlete s discretion. SHOOT: Youth C, D & Youth E competitors will shoot with a 4.5mm (.177 ) single shot, compressed air pistol, at a standing target from a distance of 7 meters. All shooting will be with lasers. Shooting is on command and all competitors have 20 seconds in which to fire each shot. Youth E and D may use a two-handed grip when firing. Ten shots in total with five shots per Target. Youth C, D & E target score of 86 points = 1,000 points ± 12 points for each target point lost or gained. COMBINED EVENT: Senior, Junior, Youth A, Youth B & Master competitors will shoot with a 4.5mm (.177 ) single shot, compressed air pistol, at a standing target from a distance of 10 meters. All shooting will be with lasers. Run Mixed surface. 95% Grass, 5% concrete. Spikes can be worn at athlete s discretion. Senior, Junior & Youth A (TOTAL 3200m/20targets): o Mass/group start, approx. 20m run, 5 Targets down (time limit 50 ); 800m run; 5 Targets down (time limit 50 ); 800m run; 5 Targets down (time limit 50 ); 800m run; 5 Targets down (time limit 50 ); 800m run. o 13 min 20 secs = 500 points ± 1 points per sec. Youth B & Master A & B (TOTAL 2400m/15targets): o Mass/group start, approx. 20m run, 5 Targets down (time limit 50 ); 800m run; 5 Targets down (time limit 50 ); 800m run; 5 Targets down (time limit 50 ); 800m run. o 10 min 30 secs = 500 points ± 1 points per sec.

Check the PI website on Wednesday 15 th October for an updated version. Athletes should be present at venues with correct equipment prior to the started times and ready to begin. Times stated are warm up times only. Start times will be announced during the warm up phase. Venues & Directions The National Pentathlon Centre and the National Aquatics Centre are both located on the National Sports Campus at Abbotstown, Dublin 15. By car from the M50. Take the exit at junction 6 on the M50 for Blanchardstown. Keep going straight on the Navan Road towards Blanchardstown, take the exit to the left for Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and stay in the right hand lane. Take a right at the top of the slip road and cross over the bridge. Take the first exit off the small roundabout at the other side of the bridge. Continue up Snugborough Road and take a right at the second set of traffic lights into the National Aquatic Centre (NAC). 6 Online Entry Form Guide To enter the 2014 Pentathlon Ireland National Championships please follow the following steps: 1. Navigate to pentathlon.ie 2. Follow the link for the 2014 National Championships. 3. On this page you will see an online booking form, complete all sections to the best of your knowledge (one entry per person). 4. Once you have completed all sections, pick which event you wish to partake in, and click the athlete s declaration. 5. Click submit, upon submitting your form you will be re-directed to the Pentathlon Ireland PayPal page. 6. If you are a PayPal user and already have a PayPal account continue through the Pay with my PayPal account 7. If you are not a PayPal user please continue to the section Don t have aa PayPal account? a. In this section you must fill in your credit/debit card details (PayPal accepts Visa and Mastercard), Billing details and contact information. b. Under the section note to seller please insert Athlete Participating Name.NAT14 c. Click pay and you are registered to compete at the nationals. Congratulations 8. Alternatively athletes wishing to enter can complete the entry form on the next page.
