1 Purpose: This performance task requires students to use their knowledge of and to make an effective logo for a shoe company. In addition, students will be required to explain why their logo would be effective across a variety of media forms. 2 Student Prompt Your design firm just landed a deal with Zmac Shoes, Inc. They need a new emblem for their products. It will be used on the shoes as well as on advertisements, brochures, and other promotional materials. You are to submit emblem ideas using the following criteria: The design must be no larger than 3 inches wide and 2.5 inches high. Begin with familiar geometric shape(s). Utilize such as reflections, rotations, translations, or a combination of these. The company name must be incorporated into the emblem design. Each emblem must include a written explanation of the design identification of the geometric figures, description of the geometric, and justification of why they would make an effective emblem. Each emblem will be evaluated using the following criteria: Clarity: Emblems are easy to read and/or comprehend. Emblems utilizing a fading effect should be clean, attractive, and obviously intentional. Multiple Use: While the primary medium for this emblem is the shoes themselves, the emblem is appropriate for other media such as web pages, advertisements, T-shirts, etc.
