1 Safety, Operating and Maintenance Manual TRAIN Rat DS9-TRAIN Industry s first air powered entry tool! Quickly, quietly and reliably opens passenger train doors! Introducing the TRAIN Rat. This innovative entry tool allows one operator to defeat locked sliding door in seconds. The patent pending tool features extra long blades to dig door out from its pocket. Once the tool is fully engaged in the door, operator activates tool with a press of a button. Center blade extends instantly pushing door open. High pressure air provides nine inches of travel to fully defeat door mechanism. Tool automatically retracts and is ready for another breach if necessary. Tool uses readily available compressed air tanks from the paintball industry. Operator simply screws air tank into tool and it is ready for use. No tools required. Safety valve at air tank adds another layer of safety. Chrome plated for long service life. Made in the USA. Patent Pending

3 How the tool works: This tool is designed to provide fast, reliable force to forcibly open sliding doors. Specifically designed for passenger train side doors. The tool provides over 1,000 lbs. of force for the full nine (9) inches of travel. This is an important feature as most door mechanisms do not fully break loose until the door travels five or six inches. The tool uses energy from a tank of compressed air. This air tank is exactly the same as those found in paintball industry. The air tank is screwed onto the tool. There is a safety valve, that when in Off position, prevents tool operation. Once the safety valve is opened the tool is ready for use. Once the operator has inserted the tool into the train door FULLY, the push button trigger is depressed. Activating the push button allows the air from the tank to push out the CENTER foot very quickly and with very high force. The center foot pushes against the door forcing it open. After the door is forced open, the operator may release the push button. When the button is released, air is vented allowing the center foot to automatically return to its home position. During this vent phase, there will be an air leaking sound. This is normal operation. After the foot has returned to the retracted position, the tool is ready for another operation if required. Safety: This tool uses air under very high pressure. Care must be used when preparing, using and storing this tool and the air tanks. If the tool or air tank is not used in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations, sever injury could result. Air tanks: 1. Tanks should be filled by an experienced person. Correct fitting must be used. 2. Tanks should be filled to 3,000 psi maximum 3. Check O-Ring before use. Replace if necessary.

4 TRAIN Rat Set-up Important: Make sure the Safety Valve is fully closed at all times except when the tool is ready to be used. Air tanks: 1. Tanks need to be filled with compressed air by an authorized filling station. These generally include paintball stores, SCUBA diving centers and some Fire and Rescue facilities. 2. Inspect tanks for any damage prior to filling. Carefully inspect rubber o-ring and threads for any damage. Do not use tank if any damage is evident 3. Fill tank to 3,000 psi maximum with air. 4. Tool may be used with partially filled tank. However, there is a possibility that the tool may not have required energy for complete entry. Note: CO 2 tanks will fit tool. Due to high usage per stroke, we do not recommend using CO 2. Tool: 1. Inspect tool for any damage. Do not use tool if any damage or unusual wear is evident. 2. Inspect port where air tank will be installed. Ensure this area is clean and there is no damage. 3. Fully rotate safety valve clockwise to turn air flow off before inserting air tank. 4. Gently slide tank into position and then rotate tank clockwise to thread into position. Hand tighten. Do not over tighten. 5. Tool is ready for use. 6. Repeated air cycles are not recommended but can be performed for training.

Operating the tool: 1. Make sure is in ready condition and Safety valve on On position. 2. Deflate the air gasket on side door 3.

NOTE: Tool body needs to be on the train side (Stationary). The center blade will move out very fast to open door.

With tool flat against train body and blades fully engaged into door, depress push button with thumb. Door will be quickly pushed fully open. 7. Release push button.

5 Operating the tool: 1. Make sure is in ready condition and Safety valve on On position. 2. Deflate the air gasket on side door 3. Insert tool blades into door / pocket as far as possible (Step 1) 4. Rotate tool to pry door out of its pocket (Step 2) 5. Push tool until it is al the way parallel with train. NOTE: Tool body needs to be on the train side (Stationary). The center blade will move out very fast to open door. Never have tool body along door surface because tool will move and could cause injury to operator. (Step 3) 6. With tool flat against train body and blades fully engaged into door, depress push button with thumb. Door will be quickly pushed fully open. 7. Release push button. Center blade will return automatically. You will hear air pressure releasing. This is normal. Be careful to keep hands away from center blade as it returns. 8. After center blade has fully returned, tool is ready for another use if needed.
