Welcome to the Witley & District MCC Boxing Day Hare and Hound Enduro.

Looking out of my window seeing all the snow, BXDE 2010 might be one of the most interesting and challenging so far, fingers crossed it might disappear in time.

Every year, hundreds of riders from as far away as Devon, Wales and the Midlands come to Weavers Down, the home of the famous Natterjack Enduro, to compete.

4 Welcome to the Witley & District MCC Boxing Day Hare and Hound Enduro. I would like to start by thanking Witley & District MCC for choosing me once more to be secretary, which enables me to put a little bit back into the sport that has bought me so much enjoyment. Looking out of my window seeing all the snow, BXDE 2010 might be one of the most interesting and challenging so far, fingers crossed it might disappear in time. Whatever level you ride at, from Expert to a beginner, I hope that you enjoy today's event. Every year, hundreds of riders from as far away as Devon, Wales and the Midlands come to Weavers Down, the home of the famous Natterjack Enduro, to compete. It is a great event for both experienced riders and beginners alike on a track that holds up well to the elements. Colin Boniface, the Clerk of the Course, has chosen the course carefully to make it challenging but not impossible and there will be plenty of marshals available around the course to help riders who are stuck. Colin has also tried to make it even better for the all the hundreds of people who each year come to spectate, too. Our chosen charity this year is Help for Heroes in support of wounded servicemen and women. 5 FINAL INSTRUCTIONS Please read very carefully VENUE: Florescent arrows from A3, Longmoor & Griggs Green Junctions. CAR PARKING: Due to the large entry this year parking will be made available on the Airstrip. Please park with consideration as need to fit everyone in and ensure exits remain clear for ambulances etc. SIGNING ON:- 8:30am - 10:30am (Before Technical Control) DON T BE LATE! Please have your riding number memorised. All riders to show current ACU competition licence, failure to do so will result in a one event licence. Riders under 18 MUST be accompanied by Parent or legal guardian to sign on. TIMING: Electronically timed using transponders. You will be given a wristband at signing on best worn on the right wrist. Best practice is to gently touch the receiver rather frantic arm waving. It is the responsibility of the rider to make sure every lap is counted, do not move away until you see the indicator light flash or your number come up on the screen. Please hand in your wristband even if you don t finish. NUMBERS: Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors a number will be provided at Signing On. TECHNICAL CONTROL:- 8:30am - 10:30am, machine, helmet & numbers on the bike (Minimum Standard - Silver Approval ACU Stamp for Enduro). Then wheel your machine straight to the Start Area (PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE A METHOD OF SUPPORTING YOUR MACHINE i.e. side stand, wooden stick or something, etc). All machines to be in place by 10:35am. STARTING PROCEDURE: Le Mans type start in classes with one minute intervals PITS: No dogs, no pushchairs and no children please. Two pit passes will be given to each competitor for his/her pit crew. TYRES: Front Tyre = Enduro or Motocross pattern, Rear Tyre = Of Enduro Type to current FIM specification Trail/Trial tyre.

17 The Rules SOUND CONTROL:- Machines must be within the noise levels currently in force for that category of machine (see ACU Handbook)). Any rider losing a silencer or baffle or creating unacceptable noise will be sent to the pits to rectify it. The machine must then be inspected by the Technical Official prior to being allowed back on the course. COURSE:- We hope to achieve a minimum length of up to 10 kms. The course will be marked by Florescent arrows, tape and route check gates which riders must pass through. BLUE TAPE AREAS:- Areas defined with Blue Tape are for the protection of Officials and Marshals. They MUST be ridden at WALKING PACE. A 60 second STOP - GO penalty may be enforced for the first offence. Exclusion will be the result of a second offence. FUEL:- Refuelling must take place in the designated GREEN area only. This will be defined by GREEN SINAGE. Each rider is responsible for their own fire precautions and should be equipped with the standard 2kg Dry Powder Extinguisher. BREAKDOWNS:- It is the riders responsibility to recover his own machine. NO MACHINES TO BE STARTED OR RIDDEN BEFORE THE START OF THE EVENT!. There will be an official engine warm up after the Riders Briefing/Final Instructions etc before the start of the event. START:- Will be a Le Mans style, controlled group start event (YES!!!, YOU WILL HAVE TO RUN TO YOUR MACHINE). The start will be set out so that riders will start in ability classes. With no less than 60 seconds between groups. LAP SCORING:- Electronically timed using transponders and receivers.
