3 ASHWAUBENON JAGUARS BASKETBALL Jaguar Basketball Family ~ I hope you are all excited for tonight's basketball games! I am thrilled to begin my second season at Ashwaubenon High School. Last year was a tough year for our teams We had to overcome a lot of adversity. The teams had to learn a new offense, a new defense, as well as all the new terminology that a new coaching staff brings with it. In addition, we had to learn how to trust each other, how to compete, how to play together, and we had to do this without a couple players who were unable to play due to injuries. However, the past is the past and we are looking forward to the future ~ this season. The players and coaches have put in a lot of time and effort to make this season the best we can make it. This season we will strive to improve on last years accomplishments. I am very impressed with the way our younger players have bought in and are willing to put in the hard work, dedication, and time necessary to take the next step. We will build on the foundation that past players and coaches have set in order to create a culture of winning. Not only being successful on the court. But in the classroom as well as in the community. Winning is the outcome when one follows and goes along with the process. Although we lost some great players and great people, this years teams have the drive and passion to be great. I can assure you that these outstanding young men will make the Ashwaubenon community, the Ashwaubenon School District and their family and friends proud. Lastly, I would like to thank the Ashwaubenon High School Administration, Mr. Weyers, Superintendent of Schools, the Ashwaubenon Basketball Association (ABA), and especially the parents and Student Athletes for all that you do to support our basketball program. 5 ASHWAUBENON JAGUARS BASKETBALL Basketball Families and Friends, On behalf of Ashwaubenon High School I would like to welcome you to the Jaguar Basketball season. Coach Van Laanen and Coach Karcz have been working hard and are excited for the season! The young men and women they coach have made a commitment to have the positive attributes that we embody: PRIDE, TRADITION, and EXCELLENCE. I would like to thank the Ashwaubenon Basketball Association, the Ashwaubenon Girls Youth Basketball Association, and the Jaguar Backers for the generous contributions they make each and every year to help make our youth and high school programs successful and exciting. I could not be more proud of the positive contributions these programs and boosters make to our community! We are lucky to have such awesome involvement from parents, who dedicate time to give all our children the opportunities to play the game of basketball! As members of the WIAA and as role models for our student-athletes we take pride in showing positive sportsmanship. It s an expectation that positive behaviors are displayed throughout the games, win or lose at all levels. We all strive to win, but let us be sure to do it the right way and to support our teams the right way. Please show respect for the teams, the other spectators and the event. Respect the integrity and judgment of the officials. It is your role to cheer for your team in a positive manner. We expect nothing less. We thank you for being a part of each game and ask you to remember that a good sport is a true leader within our school and community.
