6 Samantha Morrow Head Coach Second Season Texas Wesleyan, 1981 Maverick All-Time Coaching Records Years Name Record Pct Carla Lowery Jody Conradt Cindy Salser Connie Kelch Jerry Isler Mike Dean Donna Capps Samantha Morrow Samantha Morrow enters her second year as the head women s basketball coach at UT Arlington. Morrow began her coaching career with UTA on May 17, 2008, as she was selected as the eighth head women s basketball coach in school history. In her first season Morrow led the Lady Mavericks to an impressive overall record and a 13-3 mark in the SLC. The Lady Mavericks finished with a 9-2 record at Texas Hall and captured five of their last six games of the season. The Lady Mavericks finished in the top-five in 10 categories in the Southland Conference, including scoring offense, scoring defense, scoring margin, field goal percentage, field goal percent defense, free throw percentage, rebounding offense, rebounding defense, rebounding margin, and assists. Under the guidance of Morrow, seniors Maryann Abanobi averaged a team-high 12.7 points per game en route to earning All-Southland Conference Second Team accolades while Tiffeny Riles led the Lady Mavericks in rebounding with 7.6 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Southland Conference Second Team. Morrow led the Lady Mavericks to their 19th Southland Conference appearance where they defeated Mc- Neese State but fell in the second round to University of Texas at San Antonio. 6

Morrow earned a scholarship to Ranger Junior College and later to Texas Wesleyan University where she earned a bachelor s degree in physical education in She completed her Master s of Education degree at Tarleton State University in 1987 while coaching at Stephenville High School. Morrow is a member of the Texas Girls Coaches Association, Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, Women s Basketball Coaches Association, McDonald s High School All-American Committee and NFHS. Morrow resides in Kennedele with her three dogs and six cats. Morrow comes to UT Arlington after serving as the assistant athletic director within Mansfield Independent School District. Prior to the athletic director position, Morrow was Mansfield High School head women s basketball coach. She led her team to four consecutive Class 5A state championships from 1999 to 2002 and was named the 2002 National Federation of High Schools Coaches Association s National Coach of the Year. Morrow continued her success when Mansfield was renamed Summit, guiding the Lady Jaguars to the playoffs every year since the program s inception, including a berth in the state tournament in March. Morrow s high school coaching career is legendary with an.843 winning percentage, a record of over 14 seasons, four consecutive Class 5A girls state championships, 10 district titles, 13 playoff appearances and posting eight seasons of 30-or-more wins while the coach at Mansfield High School. 7
8 Shane Laflin Assistant Coach Second Season UT-Arlington, 2004 Shane Laflin begins his second year as an assistant coach for the women s basketball program. Laflin will serve as the programs recruiting coordinator as well as working with the team s forwards. Laflin comes to UTA from the University of Texas where he served as a graduate assistant coach for legendary coach Jody Conradt. While at Texas, Laflin assisted in scheduling, scouting, on-campus recruiting and was the supervisor of team managers. A native of Tempe, Arizona, Laflin graduated cum laude from UT Arlington in December of 2004 with a bachelor's degree in history. He has been heavily involved in coaching youth basketball and has served as a camp counselor at numerous college basketball camps, including a four-year stint at Jody Conradt's UT basketball camp. Among his coaching experience, Laflin was boys basketball eighth-grade coach at Arlington Grace Prep Academy from and was an assistant coach of the Girls' AAU Team Texas 17-Under, based out of the Dallas-Forth Worth area. 8
9 MAVERICKS BASKETBALL Erin Grant Assistant Coach Second Season Texas Tech, 2005 consecutive class 5A state championships. A McDonald s All-American, Grant averaged 12.3 points, 7.4 assists and 4.3 steals as a senior and finished fourth nationally with 1,055 career assists. Erin Grant, a former four-year basketball letter winner at Texas Tech from , played for Morrow at Mansfield High School from Grant will work primarily with the guards and will assist with recruiting and film breakdown. At Mansfield, Grant led the Tigers to an unprecedented four consecutive state championships and is the only player in Texas High School Basketball history to win four Grant started every game (158) but one in her four years at Texas Tech, where she led the Lady Raiders to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including the Elite Eight in She holds Big 12 Conference and Texas Tech records for career assists (844) and was named to All-Big 12 First Team twice and Second Team once. In 2003 Grant was named Co-Big 12 Freshman of the Year and was selected to play in the 2006 WBCA All-Star Challenge. Also in 2006 Grant was a Kodak/WBCA All-America finalist and AP All-America Honorable Mention. She won gold with USA Basketball at the 2005 World University Games and also played in the 2003 World University Games. Capping her career at Texas Tech Grant was selected as an official candidate for the Naismith Trophy, presented annually to the top college player in America A 2006 WNBA draft pick by the Seattle Storm, Grant returned to the United States after leading Stockholm 08 to the Swedish Championship where she was named MVP of the tournament. She finished the WNBA season with the Houston Comets before returning to UTA for the start of the season. 9
10 Lindsey Wilson Assistant Coach Third Season Central Oklahoma, 2006 Lindsey Wilson, who is in her third season as an assistant at UTA, graduated from The University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education in She was a three-year letterwinner for the Bronchos after transferring from Southeastern Oklahoma State following her freshman year in As a senior, she ranked among the leaders in the Lone Star Conference after making 37.2 percent (48 of 129) of her three-pointers. A three-year starter at Hydro-Eakly High School, Wilson helped her team to three straight state titles. She averaged 17 points and 3 assists per game as a senior in 2002 to earn all-state honors. The Wilson name in no stranger to the coaching circles in the state of Oklahoma. Her father is longtime prep coach Rick Wilson, who has won six state championships at Weatherford (Okla.) High School. Wilson will handle academics, travel/scheduling and tape exchange within the women s basketball program. The assistant coach will work primarily with the forwards. She is currently pursing her master s degree of science in physical education from UT Arlington. 10
11 Rachel Cisneroz Director of Operations First Season Hardin Simmons, 2008 A former Hardin-Simmons standout, Cisneroz led the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls to a 21-6 overall record, including a 16-4 mark in league play and was a Second Team All-Conference recipient in her senior campaign. Cisneroz s concluded her career at Hardin-Simmons with a record and was a three-year Academic All-ASC award winner. At Hardin-Simmons, Cisneroz was a member of the Media Production Staff where she was responsible for video editing, creating commercials, involved in video shoots, and was also an interracial part of a local TV station in Abilene. The newly-named Director of Operations will be responsible for the daily operations of the women s basketball office, which includes grading film, cutting videos, team travel, and statistics. Cisneroz graduated Cum Laude from Hardin- Simmons in May of 2008 with a major in communication with an emphasis on Public Relations and Advertising. The Director of Operations is currently completing her master s degree in communication from UT Arlington.
