4 Sacramento Kings will return to Rupp Arena to play the Washington Wizards in October LEXINGTON The NBA s Sacramento Kings and Washington Wizards will play a preseason game in Rupp Arena on October 15 at 7 PM, the Bluegrass Sports Commission (BSC) and Global Sports Management (GSM) announced today. The game will feature the return to Lexington of former UK stars DeMarcus Cousins, Rajon Rondo and Willie Cauley- Stein of the Sacramento Kings along with John Wall of the Washington Wizards. Taking place the day after UK Basketball s annual Big Blue Madness, the game will help tip off the basketball season for Big Blue Nation and provide fans a unique opportunity to be part of the excitement of NBA basketball. This game will highlight an exciting weekend of basketball for Kentucky fans. They can start off the weekend with Big Blue Madness on Friday and an NBA game on Saturday, stated Brian Breslin, Vice-President of Global Sports Management. We are excited about bringing another NBA pre-season game to Lexington and the great fans of this area. Global Sports Management and the Bluegrass Sports Commission have brought the last two NBA pre-season games to Lexington, including last year's matchup between the Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans. We have had tremendous crowds the first two times we brought NBA basketball to Lexington and we are expecting the great fans of Kentucky to come out and show their support for these former Wildcat stars and these two up and coming NBA teams, Breslin said. Tickets range in price from $10 - $250 and go on sale to the public Friday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. They can be purchased at the Rupp Arena box office, or online at or or by calling Ticket Master at WHAT THEY RE SAYING DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings "I am excited for the upcoming preseason game in Lexington versus the Wizards. Getting a chance to play at Rupp in front of the Kentucky fans is always a good feeling. Kentucky fans are the best fans in college and have supported me my entire career so it is great to come back and give them a show." Willie Cauley-Stein, Sacramento Kings "I'm thrilled to play in Lexington once again with my Kings teammates. Last year we had a blast entertaining the Big Blue Nation crowd at Rupp Arena home of many great memories for me. John Wall, Washington Wizards "I am excited to be returning to Lexington for our preseason game on October 15. Rupp Arena holds a special place in my heart and I look forward to playing in front of the best college basketball fans in the country."

10 LMU athletic department set to launch podcast network this fall HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Lincoln Memorial University athletic department will implement a podcast network to provide weekly audio content for all 21 varsity sports for the seasons, it was announced on Tuesday. The LMU sports podcast network, which will be named Splitter Sound Bites, will officially be unveiled in August. "It is with great excitement that we announce the launch of Splitter Sound Bites," LMU Athletic Director Matthew Green said. "This podcast network will provide a platform for our student-athletes and coaches to tell their story, while also allowing LMU fans and alumni insider access into everything pertaining to Railsplitter athletics. I commend Scott and his team on developing this initiative and look forward to its official launch in August." The goal of the LMU sports podcast network will be four-fold: to deliver quality and informative weekly content for each of Lincoln Memorial's athletic programs; to provide fans with an interactive, personal and entertaining look at Railsplitter athletics as the seasons unfold; to connect fans with the LMU athletic department's coaches, studentathletes and administrators; and to give those coaches, student-athletes and administrators a platform to discuss their sport, season and a variety of additional topics. "We are thrilled to launch our podcast network this fall," said LMU Director of Sports Communications Scott Erland. "In this content-driven era of sports media, it's of paramount importance to provide our fans with coverage that is high in both quality and quantity. Splitter Sound Bites will do just that, allowing fans and media a level of access that they've never had before, while lending a voice to the names and faces that make up the LMU athletic department." Splitter Sound Bites will begin in earnest, starting with podcasts featuring various administrators and coaches throughout the summer months before picking up full steam in August. Each in-season sport will have one podcast per week, with coaches and student-athletes coming on to discuss the past week, the week ahead, the season as a whole and a plethora of other topics. In addition to that, Splitter Sound Bites will also highlight select guests on a weekly basis for general topic discussions. The LMU athletics podcast network will be housed at where every podcast from the entire seasons will be archived KY High School Baseball Coaches Association 13th Region Award Winners for 2016 Player of the Year Weston Griebel, North Laurel Head Coach of the Year Darren McWhorter, North Laurel Assistant Coach of the Year Drew Chamberlain, Harlan County All-State Nominations Adam Carnahan, Clay County and Jacob Nelson, Knox Central Senior East All-Stars Braxton Hicks, North Laurel and Braden Miller, South Laurel Junior East All-Stars Adam Carnahan, Clay County and Weston Griebel, North Laurel Sophomore East All-Stars Tyler McCullough, Middlesboro and Jack Capobianco, North Laurel

11 There s nothing like barreling down the lake in the spring or summer at 5:00 in the morning. The cool mist will wake up anybody. But it s not really the air that is alarming, it s the possibility of a big bass that is ready for breakfast; buzz bait style. To see the calm water come to life with a massive explosion is fishing at its finest. There is, however, a technique to this type of fishing. Most people when they see the bass strike, they immediately set the hook. That is a big mistake. You just missed another one. The art to catching bass on a buzz bait is not to set the hook when you see the bass strike but to wait until you feel the tug. The time between the two may only be a second but it s the difference between success and failure. It is a hard discipline for some because we are so used to responding immediately to sight. It looks like a strike. It looks like I ve got him. It looks like he s on. But he s not. Not until you feel the tug. Outdoor Truths This is a great lesson for life. Most of the time, we live our lives according to what we see. And we react accordingly. We think whatever the circumstances look like, that is what they must be. If it looks hopeless, it must be. If it looks like the end, it must be. If it looks like there is no way out, there must not be. And we react accordingly. There is, however, a mechanism that God has placed within us. It s a tug. It s the voice of God saying, Don t walk by sight, but by faith. It is Him saying Don t ever count the situation hopeless until I have been added to the equation. It is Him saying that no matter how bleak the circumstance is, I will have the last word. Friend, don t set the hook on your circumstances at the first sight of trouble. Wait on the tug of God and He will turn every situation into one that is worth keeping. Gary Miller gary@outdoortruths.org Julie Ann Campbell, mother of Zac Campbell, boating education coordinator for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, holds a huge blue catfish caught in early May from a small lake in Shelby County. May and June are two of the best months of the year to catch channel and blue catfish. Lee McClellan Associate Editor, Kentucky Afield Magazine KDFWR
