1 Doug Aucoin Videography Director Doug Aucoin enters his fifth season as LSU s video coordinator. During that time he has developed LSU s football video department into the one of the finest in the nation. Aucoin, who was named the 2000 SEC Video Coordinator of the Year by his peers, oversees LSU s multi-million dollar video department which rivals that of most NFL teams. Aucoin, who joined the Tigers in 1997 after a stint with Tulane,is responsible for analytical support of computer and video technologies including the taping of games and practices, opponent video exchange,selfscout and opponent breakdowns and tape cut-ups used as a teach - ing tool. Aucoin also manages the computer network that the football coaches use for statistical analysis as well as self-scouting and the scouting of opponents. Aucoin oversees a staff of six students and one graduate assistant in the video department. Prior to working for Tulane,Aucoin was employed by the New Orleans Saints as an assistant to his brother, Albert, who was video director for the Saints.Their father, Erby, is a member of the Saints Hall of Fame for his pioneering analytical film work in the early years of the National Football League. A native of New Orleans,Aucoin graduated from Riverdale High School and graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1995 with a degree in business administration. Daniel was a standout cornerback for the Tigers from before moving on to the NFL where he enjoyed a successful 14-year career. He was an eighth-round draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts in 1984 and remained there for 13 seasons. In 1995, Daniel was a starter for the Colts squad that came within one play of making the Super Bowl. Kitchens played at Alabama from becoming the Tide's starting signal caller in the 10th game of his sophomore season. His best year was his junior campaign when he completed 152 of 302 passes for 2,124 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a senior, Kitchens threw for 1,545 yards, completing 121 of 237 passes with 11 touchdown passes. His crowning achievement may have come in his junior year when he engineered a game-winning,74-yard drive with just 2:14 to play to lead Alabama to a win over rival Auburn. He completed 20 of 33 passes for 292 yards in that game, and two weeks later threw a 92-yard touchdown pass to Michael Vaughn against Florida in the 1996 SEC Championship Game. 2 Strength & Conditioning Staff Tommy Moffitt Strength & Conditioning Coordinator Tom Moffitt is in his second season as the coordinator of LSU's strength and conditioning program,after coming to the Tiger athletic staff from the University of Miami on January 10,2000. In February of 2000, shortly after he was appointed LSU's strength coach,moffitt was named the 1999 Collegiate Football Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society. Moffitt served as the head strength and conditioning coach at Miami for two years, helping head coach Butch Davis rebuild the Hurricane program.while at Miami,Moffitt was named the 1998 Big East Strength Coach of the Year. Moffitt went to Miami after four seasons, ,as associate head strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee. A 1986 graduate of Tennessee Tech, Moffitt started his career as an assistant football coach at John Curtis High School in River Ridge from , earning the 1992 award as the National High School Strength Coach of the Year, given by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society. 4 Athletic Training Staff Jack Marucci Director of Athletic Training Jack Marucci enters his sixth season as director of athletic training at LSU. Since joining the Tigers, Marucci's leadership and vision has taken LSU to the forefront of athletic training at the collegiate level. As director of athletic training at LSU, Marucci oversees the athletic training operation for all 20 varsity sports at LSU, supervising a staff of five full-time trainers. An experienced trainer with a strong background in collegiate athletics, Marucci helped design the new athletic training facility at Tiger Stadium. Marucci served as assistant athletic trainer at Florida State from , a stint that included seven bowl trips with the Seminoles. While in Tallahassee, he served as the host trainer for two NCAA regional baseball tournaments. Marucci graduated from West Virginia in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education, then gained his master's from Alabama in 1988,serving as a graduate assistant trainer for the Crimson Tide from He also worked stints in 1987 in athletic training with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team and the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team, and in 1985 he worked in athletic training with the Cleveland Browns football team. Andy Barker Senior Associate Athletic Trainer Andy Barker enters his sixth season as senior associate athletic trainer at LSU as he came to Baton Rouge from Florida State where he was an assistant athletic trainer for six years. Since joining LSU, Barker has been integral in the designing and implementing a state-of-the-art computer tracking program which assists the staff in following the progress and rehabilitation of injuries.the program produces daily injury reports for a variety of sports, and it also tracks and monitors purchasing and inventory as well as tracking insurance and medical bill payments. Most recently the system was upgraded to provide reports to the NCAA to help track injuries involved in the Injury Surveillance System. In April of 2000, Barker received the Southeastern Athletic Trainers Association "Backbone" Award, an award that recognizes the top collegiate assistant athletic trainer from the seven states included in the Southeastern district of the National Athletic Trainers Association. A 1988 graduate of Clemson University, Barker then went on to become a graduate assistant trainer at Florida State in 1988.After two years as a graduate assistant in the Seminole athletic program, Barker was named an assistant athletic trainer there in 1990 and served in that position until joining LSU in August of While at Florida State, Barker worked seven postseason bowl games with the Seminole football team, served as host trainer for a 1995 NCAA regional basketball tournament, the host trainer for seven NCAA regional baseball tournaments and the host trainer for the Junior Pan-Am Games in Barker was born in New Orleans,La. Shelly Mullenix Senior Associate Athletic Trainer Shelly Mullenix joined the LSU Training staff in January, 1997, coming to Baton Rouge from Florida State University, where she had worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer from She was promoted to assistant athletic trainer at FSU in 1993 and served until December of In addition to Mullenix's role as a trainer with the football program, she plays an integral role in the education and development of nutritional programs for all LSU sports.this nutritional information is given in a team format as well as one-on-one individualized counseling. With the use of state-of-the-art computer analysis, Mullenix is able to perform body fat analysis, customize dietary intake and exercise prescription to suit the specific needs of the athlete.administratively, she is responsible for the recruitment of student athletic trainers to LSU and the development of the athletic training curriculum. 6 Equipment Staff Jeff Boss Equipment Manager Jeff Boss is responsible issuing and maintaining all football equipment,in addition to supervising LSU's new locker room facilities. In his 22nd year with the LSU program, Boss is an active member in the Athletic Equipment Managers Association.He was selected the winner of the Glenn Sharp Award in 1990,given annually to the Equipment Manager of the Year as chosen by that organization. His years of expertise in the field have also aided him in the design and development of a football shoe, the "Boss Shark," which was nationally marketed for intercollegiate play by the Nike Shoe Company. Before coming to LSU in 1980, he served five years as a teacher and football coach at Morgan City High School. He previously held similar positions at Kaplan High School in He began his athletic administration career at Franklin Junior High in 1972 before serving as athletic director and head football coach there in While at Franklin,he coached former LSU and Atlanta Falcon great Lyman White.
