2 CODE OF CONDUCT PLAYERS: Play by the rules at all times. Never argue with officials, work hard for yourself and your team. Be a good sport, co-operate and enjoy your basketball. PARENTS: Let the coach do their job. Focus on your child s effort, not on winning or losing. Respect umpires decisions and teach children to do the same. Set an example and applaud good plays by all teams. Never yell at or ridicule a child for making a mistake. Children play sport for themselves and not for you. Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. RULES MERCY RULE: Applies to under 12 s and under 14 s. 3 POINT BASKETS: Only in under 16 s and under 18 s. MAN TO MAN DEFENCE: Can be played anywhere on court. ZONE DEFENCE: Not allowed for under 12 s and under 14 s. 4 x 10 MINUTE QUARTERS: Clock stops for all time outs. 2 x time outs per half. Clock stops for every whistle in the last 3 minutes of the game. ½ time break = 3 minutes, all other 1 minute. FOULS: 4 team fouls per quarter with fifth being foul shooting. 6 TH or 7 TH PLAYER: Can play 2 games in any one round in older age group. Where 2 teams are in one division, may not change after the 3 rd game. UNIFORMS: Tops must be tucked in. BALL SIZES: Under 12 and under 14 boys and ALL girls use size 6. Under 16 and under 18 boys use size 7. FORFEITS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR FINALS If a team does not advise the opposing team contact and that town umpire s co-ordinator of inability to play before 6pm on the evening prior to that match, a fine of $200 will be imposed on the town association. No player shall be eligible for finals unless that player has played four matches for that club in the 2015/16 season.
