THANKSGIVING TOURNAMENTS eight games will be played in in Carver Gym on Friday and Saturday, with WWU hosting the Chuck Randall Classic (men) and the Lynda Goodrich Classic (women) there will be four games each day, with game times of noon, 2:30 pm, 5 pm and 7:30 pm a special ticket offer will feature half-price tickets at $5 for general admission. CHUCK RANDALL CLASSIC this season marks the 15 th edition of the Chuck Randall Classic the tournament is named in honor of former WWU coach Chuck Randall, who earned school and national hall of fame honors during his 18-year career at WWU from 1963 to THE NATIONAL RANKINGS WWU dropped out of the national rankings this week, ending a string of 14 consecutive weeks in the national rankings receiving votes in both the NABC (No. 27) and D2SIDA (No. 31) polls ranked No. 22 in the NABC preseason coaches poll and No. 19 in the D2SIDA preseason media poll finished last season ranked No. 12 in the nation by the NABC. PICKED TO REPEAT GNAC coaches have selected the Vikings to repeat as league champions in the annual preseason coaches poll WWU received 7 of 11 first-place votes, and a total of 116 points, ahead of second-place Western Oregon (108 points). DEFENDING CHAMPIONS WWU won the GNAC regular season and tournament titles, clinching the regular-season championship with a 17-3 league mark for the sixth GNAC title for Western, and fourth outright the Vikings beat host Saint Martin s (91-79) and Western Oregon (71-69) in the GNAC final to claim the first conference tournament title in program history. WHAT S NEXT following the Chuck Randall Classic, the Vikings remain at home hosting Concordia (Thur., Nov. 30) and No. 15 Western Oregon (Sat., Dec. 2) to open GNAC play WWU will play its first 8 games of the season in Carver Gym, before debuting on the road Dec in the Hoops in Hawai'i Holiday Classic in Honolulu.
