4 COACHING STAFF Brad Holt Head Coach 6th Season Dover, N.H. Holt has built the UNE men s ice hockey program from scratch over the past five seasons, going through a two-year pre-varsity phase prior to having now completed three seasons in the highly-competitive ECAC East League. After three wins in their first full varsity season, Holt and the Nor easters notched double the number of victories during the campaign (6), which included three triumphs over New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponents. The season also featured the program s premiere win -- a 5-2 defeat of regional-power Amherst College. Big Blue captured the mid-season PAL Cup at Southern New Hampshire during , turning back the hosts before edging UMass Boston in penalty shots (2-0) to claim the title. Over the years, Holt has had experience as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Colby College (1980), as a player and coach for the Ishockey Klub of Aalborg, Denmark ( ), and as a coach and arena manager for the Oyster River Youth Hockey Association ( ) in New Hampshire. He then stayed locally to serve as head coach at New Hampton Prep School ( ), before a move to Vermont to lead the Green Mountain Glades of the Eastern Junior Hockey League ( ). More recently, Holt spent a couple years as a game official and referee evaluator for Hockey East, in addition to his continued work with The Clinic hosted by Bowdoin College (30 years). A Dover, N.H. native and 1979 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Holt was a three-year letter winner for the NCAA Division I Wildcats and played on two NCAA Final Four squads. After graduation, he played for the Dayton Gems in the Washington Capitals organization. Holt has helped UNE bring back an ice hockey program that enjoyed a great deal of success in the late 1970 s, winning three consecutive NAIA District 5 championships when the University was known as St. Francis College. Within the Athletics Department, Holt serves as the Community Relations Coordinator. Jason Tremblay Assistant Coach 2nd Season Tremblay has worked at the high school level in Maine for the past nine seasons. As the head coach at Cape Elizabeth, he led the Capers to two consecutive State Championships and was named Coach of the Year three times. Tremblay also has his own hockey academy during the summers, and has been instrumental in starting the ADM Model at Biddeford Youth Hockey. Last season he assisted UNE primarily in a recruiting capacity, and now he is specializing with the offensive unit. Tremblay played junior hockey under what is now the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs system for two years. He then played four years at NCAA Division III Elmira College, where he served as captain his senior year and was part of two teams that went to the NCAA Tournament. Tremblay is a graduate of Elmira College. Mike Manos Assistant Coach 5th Season Manos has worked with the UNE hockey program for four years, specializing with the defensive unit. Manos played on the Green Mountain Glades under the team s former head coach, Brad Holt, and was a two-time Eastern Junior Hockey League all-star. He then went on to four years at NCAA Division III Hobart College, where he earned all-ecac accolades. Manos graduated from Hobart College.
5 Jim Allen Goaltender Coach 3rd Season COACHING STAFF Allen has worked with the UNE hockey program for two seasons, serving as the Goaltender Coach. He had spent the previous five years in the same position at Cheverus High School. Allen is a 1979 graduate of the University of Maine. Stephen Snyder Student Assistant Coach 1st Season Kristen Bailey Athletic Trainer Bailey (M.S., LAT, ATC), after a year s sabbatical, is back in Biddeford to serve as Assistant Athletic Trainer, as well as a Clinical Educator in the field. A 2002 graduate from the University with a bachelor s degree in athletic training, she has been back at UNE since Bailey played four years of softball for the Nor easters and graduated magna cum laude before heading to California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her master s in While at California U., Bailey served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. She landed her first job in August of 2003 as Head Athletic Trainer and Instructor of Athletic Training at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. She held that position for two years before returning to her home state of Maine to work as an Athletic Trainer and Rehabilitation Aide at Saco Bay Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy in Standish. During that time she also served as Head Athletic Trainer at Bonny Eagle High School.
