3 Meet the Coaches Head Coach Greg Gammell Greg Gammell enters his second season as Rhode Island College s head men s golf coach. The Anchormen are coming off a 4-3 fall 2007 season, which saw RIC placed fifth at the Great Northeast/Little East Championship and 37th at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships. It wasn't long before Gammell's impact was felt on the Rhode Island College men's golf program. He led the Anchormen to the greatest season in program history in as the club recorded a 14-3 overall record and a second place finish at the inaugural Little East Conference/Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament He led the Anchormen to a 6-2 overall record and a 29th place finish at the NEIGA Championships during the fall 2006 campaign. It was the program's highest finish ever at the annual event. The Anchormen followed up the fall season with an 8-1 record in the spring. Gammell, a Coventry, Rhode Island native, is an outstanding golfer who is a six-time champion and four-time runner-up at the Coventry Pines Golf Club. He was the runner-up at the 1981 Pawtuxet Valley Open. He was the Fenner Hill Golf Course Club Championship runner-up in In addition to his coaching duties, Gammell is the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations at Rhode Island College. He earned a bachelor s degree in agriculture and resource technology from the University of Rhode Island in He played three seasons of golf for the Rams, placing fourth at the 1983 New England Intercollegiate Championships. Gammell earned Honorable Mention All-New England honors as a senior in Gammell resides in Coventry, Rhode Island with his wife Beverly. They have two children: Geoff and Kelsey. Assistant Coach Mike Kelley Mike Kelley enters his fifth season as the assistant men s golf coach at Rhode Island College. Kelley assists head coach Greg Gammell with all phases of the RIC men s golf program including recruiting, administering practices and match coaching. Prior to joining the golf staff, Kelley served as RIC s head women s basketball coach from In addition to his duties at RIC, Kelley is also a basketball official and coaches the South Kingstown High School varsity girls basketball team. Kelley holds a bachelor of arts degree in education/mathematics from Providence College which he received in He is currently a teacher at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick. Kelley resides in West Warwick with his wife Judith. They have three children: Kristen, Melissa and Courtney. 23

Fall 2006 Season: Saw action in eight of the team's nine matches and averaged a team-low score of earned medallist honors twice with a 72 vs. Newbury and then again with a score of 75 in a quadmeet sweep of Wentworth, Wesleyan and Brandeis. Freshman Year (2006): Named the team s MVP...saw action in each of the club s five matches and averaged a team-low score of earned medallist honors three times on the season, sharing the honor with a score of 80 in the quad-meet with Worcester State, Becker and Brandeis, and then with a score of 76 in the win at Newbury and sharing the honor with a score of 81 in the win over Johnson & Wales...fired a season-low score of 75 at the Blazers Invitational.
