The game will be broadcast live in the U.S. on NBCSN and also streamed live via NBC Sports Live Extra. LINEUP TODAY Forward Steve Moses will miss today s game with a lower body injury. He is day-to-day. The U.S. will utilize all eight defensemen and the 1 other forwards it has on its roster. STARTING IN GOAL Jack Campbell will get the start again today in goal for Team USA. He stopped 15-of-17 shots on goal in a 4- win over Russia on Monday (May 4) in his men s world championship debut. Campbell is among the most decorated players on the U.S. Men s National Team in terms of medals. He is a two-time gold medalist at the IIHF U18 Men s World Championship (009, 010) and also helped the U.S. earn a gold (010) and bronze (011) at the IIHF World Junior Championship. A group of 17 players and staff visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum in Poland yesterday on the team s day off. Other players enjoyed a day of golf, while others explored the town and utilized the spa at the team s hotel... A short Christmas song was mixed in with reggae, country, rock and rap as part of the music selection heard in Team USA s dressing room this morning... The U.S. has won two medals in Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia in the men s world championship, including its only gold medal in 19 and also bronze in 004 (see table in these notes)... Assorted family and friends of Team USA s players and staff will arrive in Ostrava on Friday and be here through the remainder of the tournament... Bill Zito, part of the management team of the 015 U.S. Men s National Team and also the assistant general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, spent the past two days watching games in Prague. He returned to Ostrava late this morning... Scott Aldrich, one of Team USA s two equipment managers, works full-time for USA Hockey as the manager of hockey operations. Coach Dan Bylsma calls him the pride of the Upper Peninsula.... Ray Shero, part of the U.S. Men s National Team Advisory Group, is expected to be in Ostrava on Saturday... Team USA is the home team in today s game and will wear its blue jerseys... The U.S. is playing its third game with a 4:15 p.m. start time... Bob Webster, who is the team leader of the 015 U.S. Men s National Team, has worked with USA Hockey and its national teams for parts of five decades... USA Hockey president Ron DeGregorio is retiring in June after 1 years at the helm and more than 40 years as a volunteer helping grow and better the game of ice hockey in the U.S. and throughout the world. Richards was an assistant coach for the 014 U.S. Olympic Men s Ice Hockey Team and also for the 010 U.S. Men s National Team. Dan Bylsma and Greg Carvel are both serving as assistant coach of the U.S. Men s National Team for the first time. Bylsma was the head coach of the 014 U.S. Olympic Men s Ice Hockey Team. NBC COVERAGE Team USA games at the 015 IIHF Men s World Championship. All seven preliminary round games will air live and/or same-day delay. Additionally, all Team USA preliminary round games will be streamed live online through NBC Sports Live Extra. Hendricks is playing on his first U.S. national team. He is the oldest member of Team USA at. Hendricks has served as an alternate captain throughout his professional career, including at Edmonton the last two seasons. He was team captain of his college team, St. Cloud State University, in Justin Faulk and Trevor Lewis are the team s alternate captains. Faulk was a member of the 014 U.S. Olympic men s ice hockey team, while Lewis played on the 007 U.S. Men s National Junior Team that earned a bronze medal at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Leksand and Mora, Sweden. JACK EICHEL U.S. forward Jack Eichel won the Hobey Baker Award, significant of the top player in NCAA Division I men s ice hockey. He led the nation in points playing for Boston University. Eichel, who is eligible for the NHL Entry Draft this June, is expected to be one of the top two picks in the draft. He played for the U.S. National Junior Team this past December/January in the IIHF World Junior Championship. BITS FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THESE GAME NOTES... Andrew Schapiro, the U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic, was at Team USA s game against Russia on May 4 with members of his family... The U.S. allowed just two goals in its first two games, the fewest in the opening two contests for a U.S. team since The U.S. is in games on May 1 all-time at the world championship after its win over Finland yesterday (May 1)... Team USA arrived in Ostrava early Wednesday evening (April 9) from Vienna where it played an exhibition game against Austria on Tuesday (April 8). The U.S. received goals from Mike Reilly, Steve Moses, Auston Matthews and Jeremy Morin in the win... U.S. forward Mark Arcobello has played for four different NHL teams in He joins Dennis O Brien ( ) and Dave McLlwain (1991-9) as the only players in NHL history to play on four different teams in one campaign... The U.S. has won gold at the last three IIHF world championships played this season (U18 Women, Women, U18 Men)... Team USA s host is Ostrava native Andre Niec. He played hockey in the Austrian second league this season for Kapfenberg. Niec speaks four languages fluently, including Russian, English, Czech and German... Stan Wong is serving as an athletic trainer for a U.S. team for the 4th time. This year marks his ninth straight men s world championship. He has also served as a trainer for three Olympic teams, 1 national junior squads, eight Deutschland Cup teams and for Team USA at one Youth Olympic Games. Wong will be inducted into the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame on June 18 in San Antonio, Texas... The last time the IIHF Men s World Championship was played in the Czech Republic (004), the U.S. earned a bronze medal under head coach Peter Laviolette. Team USA s last medal came when it earned bronze in 01 in Helsinki and Stockholm with Joe Sacco as head coach... Two U.S. players have birthdays in the month of May. Netminder Connor Hellebuyck will turn on May 19 and a week later (May 6) Jimmy Vesey will also hit... In 004 here in Ostrava at the world championship, the U.S. played six games. It went in Group B play before advancing to the qualifying round where it won two of three games to advance to Prague and the quarterfinals. Team USA ultimately earned a bronze medal in the event. Team USA returns five players from the 014 U.S. Men s National Team, including defensemen Jake Gardiner, Seth Jones and Connor Murphy; forward Brock Nelson; and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. U18 MEN S WORLDS... The U.S. will host the 016 IIHF U18 Men s World Championship, April 1-4 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, at the spectacular Ralph Engelstad Arena. Seth Jones was named by the directorate as the tournament s best defenseman. Jones, the youngest player on the team at 19, led all players on the squad with Johnny Gaudreau was second on Team USA in points with , while Tyler Johnson was third (6---9). Tim Thomas was the goaltender of record for all eight U.S. contests and finished with a.49 goals against average and.869 save percentage. MANAGEMENT TEAM The 015 U.S. Men s National Team is under the direction of the U.S. Men s National Team Advisory Group, including NHL general managers Stan Bowman (Chicago), Dean Lombardi (Los Angeles), David Poile (Nashville), and Dale Tallon (Florida). Also involved are Don Waddell, president of Gale Force Sports & Entertainment and Ray Shero. The group is led by Jim Johannson, USA Hockey s assistant executive director for hockey operations. Bill Zito, assistant general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, is also part of the management group for the 015 U.S. Men s National Team. The U.S. Men s National Team Advisory Group was formed in February of 007.
