2 County Council & Ambassadors County Council Meeting WHEN: Tuesday, January 8th WHERE: County Extension Office (CEO) TIME: 6:30 pm Remember the council delegate and the president of the club are the two representatives from your club who must attend the meeting and serve as voting delegates for the club. All 4-H members are welcome though! It will be a lot of fun, so come and learn about the county 4-H program and new opportunities. This month s community service project will be a Children s Hospital Toy Drive. The program will cover Bell County s Master Gardner and Master Naturalist programs. Council/Ambassador Christmas Party The County Council Officer and Ambassador Christmas party is scheduled for Thursday, December 20th at the CEO. $10.00 and under unisex gift for Exchange Game. NO CHINESE CHRISTMAS GAG GIFTS. Time is from 1:00 3:00 pm. Chisolm Trail Christmas Ball This event will take place on Saturday, December 8 th at the Bell County Expo Center. You will wear your official green jacket with black bottoms. You will need to arrive no later than 5:00 pm. Assist with the live and silent auction around 7:30 pm. After the band ends around 10 p.m. you will help with the cleanup. You will have down time to eat and participate in the dance! Represent us well! 4-H Club Managers Membership Advisory Board Meeting When: January 15, 2019 Where: CEO Time: 6:00 pm This meeting is open to all parents and leaders! We encourage all Club Managers to attend and give their opinions on the Bell County 4-H program. Membership Advisory Board Finance Meeting If you are interested in serving on the Membership Advisory Board Finance Committee, then please come to the CEO on Thursday, January 10th. We will be reviewing the finances starting at 6:00 pm. We strongly encourage a representative from each club attend this meeting! BCYF Food Container Pick Up Attention Club Managers! You can start picking up food containers on January 3rd at the CEO for your participants competing in the 2019 BCYF Food Division. Our business hours are Monday-Friday 8 am 12:00 & 1:00-5:00 pm. 3 Upcoming Events Ag Product ID The next Ag Product ID practice will be on Monday December 10th. Practice will be at 6:00 pm at the First Baptist Church 702 House. Our next contest will be at the Bell County Youth Fair on Friday, February 8, This will be the first time this contest will be held at our county fair. Please check out the 2019 fair book for more information on the contest format. Intro to Parliamentary Procedure Workshop Bell County 4-H Ambassador, Austin Castillo, will be hosting an Intro to Parliamentary Procedure Workshop a the CEO on Saturday, December 8th from 10 am 1:00 pm. 4 FCS Project News Food Challenge Practices Food Challenge practices for teams advancing to the District 8 4-H Competition will continue. They will take place at the First Baptist Church 702 House in Belton, starting at 6:00 pm. Nutrition Quiz Bowl Practices Nutrition Quiz Bowl is a quiz game that tests teams of 3-4 on their knowledge of food and nutrition, diseases, laws/regulations, etc.. Up against the clock, the 4-Hers buzz in to answer a question and earn or lose points accordingly. Competitions are held in a tournament-system bracket. Practices will take place starting at 6:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church Gym, Belton December 21 & December 28 Contact Barbara Wood for more information. 4-H Fashion Show Workshop Join us on January 7th at the CEO to learn all about the Fashion Show! You will learn the basics to get your ready to enter the county contest and have fun completing leadership and community service with your friends. All activities will count on your fashion show paperwork. Entry forms will be available at the workshop. The workshop will take place from 1:30 4:00 pm. Please RSVP by January 2nd. For your RECORDBOOKS! Welcome Home Gift Baskets for previously homeless veterans moving into the new Veteran s Community being built in Temple: 5 laundry baskets full of household and personal items were assembled at the state photography workshop last Saturday. A total of 40 items were collected! This is in addition to the 4 large boxes of new/used items already collected. Thank you for your generosity to those in need! 5 BCYF Events Bell County Youth Fair Eligibility Club Managers, please make sure you have a sign in sheet at each meeting and announce to all members to sign in before, during, and after the meeting. BCYF has a website in which everything will be posted including the new fair book, entry forms, superintendent s names and phone numbers, score sheets, and other information: bellctyyouthfair/ You MUST attend 2 meetings to participate in the BCYF. Your name MUST be on the sign in sheets for it to count. 2 meetings will be allowed from August 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018 this year. No meetings will be allowed in January to use for the 2 meeting rule. Must be your primary club! All 4-H members MUST be enrolled by December 10, 2018 to participate in the BCYF. BCYF Entry Deadlines 4-H members participating in the Bell County Youth Fair must submit a completed BCYF Entry Form to your Club Manager by THEIR ESTABLISHED deadline! Entry forms will not be accepted by individuals at the County Extension Office! BCYF Container Work Day If you are interested in helping assemble containers for the Bell County Youth Fair, please come by the CEO on Thursday, December 27th starting at 9:00 am. IMPORTANT BCYF Photography Dates All photos must be taken after March 1, 2018 Photos will be submitted online at beginning January 2, 2019 to no later than 5 p.m. on January 16, READ the photography section in the catalog! 6 BCYF Events Carcass Swine Weigh In Carcass Swine Weigh in for the Bell County Youth Fair will be January 27, 2019 from 1:00 2:00 pm at the Bell County Expo Center. Swine must weigh a minimum of 220 pounds and a maximum of 290 pounds at the time of weigh in. BCYF Horse Exhibitor Ride Nights Speed Events: January 21, January 28, January 31 6:00 pm 9:00 pm Performance Events: January 22, January 29, 6:00 9:00 p.m. & February 1 3:00 pm 9:00 pm BCYF Home School Eligibility The Homeschool Eligibility deadline is January 11, All Homeschool students must fill out an eligibility form and turn it in by the deadline. NO FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE OR ACCEPTED TILL AFTER JANUARY 1, Go to to fill out your form. Photography Project Texas 4-H Community Service Donate used/new DVD s for Veterans! Send to Bell County Extension Office, Donate directly to local Vet Home or Donate via DVDs 4 Vets 4-H Youth coordinators. Deadline December 15. We will also take a ferry ride to hopefully see wild dolphin. For those seeking Junior Master Photographer certification, this field trip will count as a practice event. This event is open to all levels of 4-Hers (including clovers) AND their families. Come join the fun! RSVP is extended until midnight Dec 13. 7 Livestock Project News San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo School Tour Guide Opportunity The San Antonio Livestock Exposition is looking for enthusiastic, responsible students in grades 9 12 to participate in this leadership opportunity. Tours guides are given the opportunity to educate school children about agriculture and its importance to our daily lives. Tour dates are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Contact Sheryl Long no later than December 14, 2018 if you want to participate. All participants will have to agree on the same date Rodeo Austin School Tour Guide Opportunity Rodeo Austin is looking for youth tour guides to lead school age children to educational exhibits around the rodeo grounds. These volunteers should be age 13 and up. The tour guides will be assigned classes and tour routes. The helpers will assist School Tour Committee members with other duties to make this event enjoyable and successful for everyone. Texas 4-H Dog Validation 4-H Dog projects must be validated by January 10th to be eligible to enter the Texas 4-H Dog Show. The Texas 4-H Dog Show takes place July 12-14, 2019, location TBD.
