1 4-H Club Meetings for May 2017 Lipan 4-H - Thursday, May 4 th, at 6:30 pm at the Lipan Community Center Young Riders - Monday, May 1 st at 6:30 pm, Reunion Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall Tolar 4-H - Tuesday, May 2nd, at 6:30 pm at Tolar First National Bank. Lake Granbury Community 4-H - Monday, May 8 th, in the Annex I Meeting Room Sharp Shooters 4-H - Meets every Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm at the Reunion Fairgrounds, with regular business meeting the 1st Tuesday of each month. Cornerstone 4-H - 2nd Wednesday of every month at 3 pm at the Cornerstone Christian Academy. Meeting May 10th. 4-H Council & Adult Leader Meeting May 22nd will be our 4-H Council and Adult Leader Meeting at 6:30 pm at the office. We will elect Council Officers and County Friend of 4-H. Club Friend of 4-H Don t forget each club will need to elect a Friend of 4-H and have their council representatives bring it to the May Council Meeting on May 22nd.

4 County & Club Officer Elections May is usually the month that we elect officers for the next 4-H year. If you want to run for a club officer position, you need to contact your club manager to find out the specifics. We will hold County Council Officers elections in May. If you wish to be on County Council, you must be elected as President, Vice President, or County Delegate. Contact Ms.Pittcock if you have questions about County Council! 4-H Awards Here is a list of 4-H awards that you may apply for: Gold Star, Silver Spur, Gold Spur, Danforth s I Dare You, 4-H Rookie, 4-H Letterman, 4-H Honor Roll and 4-H All Star. You can find the 4-H award applications at our website: look under the 4-H tab. Awards applications due June 9, Healthy Lifestyles Ambassadors The healthy living 4-H program focuses on nutrition, childhood obesity, drug awareness, bullying prevention, health & fitness, stress management, and food science. 4-H ers will learn about healthy lifestyles, professionalism in health related careers, and how to coordinate educational events for the development of leadership and effective citizenship related to the healthy lifestyles projects. BYOSM (Bring Your Own Sewing Machine) 6/2, 6/16, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, 7/28 from 9-11 am For more information...call Ms. Pittcock for more information July 17-20, 2017 Food Camp Registration is open for Hood County 4-Hers. Open to the public on 6/12. There are ONLY 30 spots available. Make sure to save your spot!

5 Livestock News for May 2017 Howard College Lamb & Goat Camps We just received info for these two camps offered in Big Spring over the summer. These are great camps with tons of good information and speakers. The cost is $85 per person. You are responsible for your own lodging. Lamb Camp is June 4, 5 and 6 th. and Goat Camp is June 11, 12 and 13 th Ag Ambassadors The goal of this event is to teach 4- H ers about agriculture and career opportunities. As part of this program 4-H ers will be expected to dress nice, be engaged, ask questions, and complete thank you notes to speakers and presenters. If you have questions please stop by the office or call Marty. If you want more info, contact Marty. Aggieland Lamb & Goat Camp District 4-H Horse Show The District 8-4-H Horse Show will be June 19 th - 20 th in Belton. We will entry information to those of you that validated horses. Livestock Raisers Association The HCLRA meets on the 3 rd Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm at the fairgrounds. We need more 4-H families to get involved with this group. They make the rules for the county show, up-keep the facilities and provide us a place and opportunity to show our projects. Next meeting is May 18th Join us in Aggieland for a FUN and EXCITING 3 day program dedicated to educating students on the fundamentals of feeding, nutrition, health, facilities, and selection with plenty of showmanship and Quality Counts information!
