Those who can not attend the interview will have the option to video ahead of time or do a phone interview.

Are you interested in getting more active & involved in county 4-H program plans & activities? - Starting September 30th you can attend the monthly McLennan County 4-H Council meetings. All 4-H youth members are invited to come be informed & have a voice in the plans made for the McLennan County 4-H program! Are you going to be a 4-H club officer for the year? - There will be a club officer training August 1st 9am-12pm at the Extension office. More info: To run for County Council office you must: Attend the Club Officer Training held August 1 st &/or Leadership Lab (registration has closed for Lab) Be of Intermediate or Senior 4-H age (must turn age 11 or older by September 1, 2013) Juniors can still take part in county council by attending council meetings to be involved or represent their clubs as a council delegates- per their clubs bylaws & officer election There will be 8 County Council office positions open at elections: President First Vice 2 nd Vice Secretary Reporter/Public Relations Officer Parliamentarian Health & Safety Officer Historian To learn more about these officer positions (similar to club offices) you may visit: & for Historian: McLennan County Council Officer Elections will be held at the first council meeting September 30 th 6:00PM at the McLennan County Extension office. It will be determined at the next Adult/ Volunteer Taskforce meeting held August 27 th what Monday out of the month we will meet- whether it s the 2 nd or 4 th or just last Monday of the month Council & the Adult/Volunteer Taskforce will meet at the same time & day every month Aug. through May. A Club Officer Training (for each 4-H club s officer leadership) & Social is planned for August 1 st, :00AM- 12:00PM or possibly 1:00PM depending on whether we can swing lunch. Each McLennan County 4-H Club will want to send their officers to the training. This training is open to all club officers for the H year. Those who attend Leadership Lab &/or the Club Officer Training will receive more information on running for council office following the camps & prior to elections!

6 2013 Texas 4-H Livestock Ambassador Short Courses Texas A&M University July 15-18, 2013 Cost: $200 (includes meals and lodging)- upon acceptance Texas Tech University July 22-24, 2013 Cost: $150 (includes meals and lodging)- upon acceptance Ages 14 and older Deadline: June 21 Selection Criteria: senior aged (14-18) 4-H youth that have exhibited a superior level of ambition regarding their livestock projects students with a profound interest in animal science and animal production students have shown advanced leadership qualities and a willingness to help others County Extension Agent approval top 25% class rank Contact Billy Zanolini for more information at Applications can be picked up from the Extension office.

If so, mark your calendars for June 29-30, 2013 for the 5th annual Texas 4-H Outdoor Challenge to be held at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood. Grab a friend. Learn, practice, and train to compete in a series of ten outdoor events, and then join us in June to test your knowledge and skills at the Texas 4-H Outdoor Challenge! Registration will open on 4-H Connect in April.
