3 RECORD KEEPING It is important for you to keep records for a few reasons: ü To keep track of work done and costs of your project. ü To have a record of all of your 4-H accomplishments in one place. ü To show self-improvement and service to others. ü To explain what you have learned. ü To train yourself for future work. ü To learn how to organize yourself. ü This material can be used as a part of your 4-H Record Book at the County and State levels. When completing your project book, please keep these things in mind: ü Do as much of the work as possible on your own with some help from your parents. The overall project book should reflect your work, not your parents. (Parents of 5-8 year olds: please have your child answer the questions in this book. You may help neatly write their answers if they need your help. Age appropriate answers are welcomed!) ü Be creative. You may decorate your record book, or make it into a scrapbook. ü Be neat and organized. ü Thoroughly complete your project book. ü Take lots of pictures throughout your project. ü Turn your project book in to your local 4-H agent one week before the show for judging. ü HAVE FUN!! 3
