6 MHSAA Rules Meeting Officials wanting to work the post season need to complete the on-line rules meeting, or have attended a live meeting no later than December 14 th.
7 MHSAA Officials Test for Post Season Consideration Officials wanting consideration for post season assignment need to complete the online 30 question test no later than December 14 th. Scott Strickler will review the test later in this meeting.
8 MHSAA Golden Rod to State Officials wanting to work post season should complete and mail in the Golden Rod form. Used to evaluate strength of schedule. Available as a download word document from the MHSAA site. Due to the state no later than December 1 st.
9 Arbiter Calendars Updated by Members Assignment of matches meeting will be held 11/12. Calendars must be updated no later than 11/09. Block off the Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays you are NOT available to work. Turn backs on un-blocked dates are unacceptable. Assignment of matches will be published by 11/15. You will have 3 days to accept or decline your assignments. Non-accepted matches will be removed from your calendar and assigned to others.

13 New Rules In bounds vs Out of bounds The simplest way to put it is: 1. The wrestlers are considered in bounds if ALL of the supporting points of either wrestler are in. 2. If both wrestlers have a supporting point out, they are out. 3. Officials need to straddle line when in a potential out of bounds situation. a. Don t be LAZY and stay by the 10 foot circle.
14 What is a supporting point? According to the rulebook Art. 2 Supporting points are part of the body.holding the opponent. A. When down on the mat, the usual points of support are: 1. The knee 2. The side of the thigh 3. The buttocks 4. The hand(s) 5. The head
15 Expanded out of bounds for NF and Fall situations 1. Therefore- the federation and state have adopted the rule that you can score nearfall or pin someone out of bounds. 2. The toes are not considered a supporting point in regards to scoring NF. a. You can still score a TD on the edge (that remains unchanged). 3. In a NF situation, if only the toes of the wrestler scoring are in, then the action must stop.
16 Legal Uniforms and Wrestling Shoes At the high school and junior high / middle school level, wrestlers may wear either the one-piece singlet or twopiece uniform. (Rule 4-1-1) Shoes shall be a light, heelless wrestling shoes reaching above the ankle and tightly secured. Any match delay or stoppage directly related to shoelaces shall be treated as delay of match and, therefore, a stalling violation. Tape is ONLY allowed to secure the LACES in place. NO other tape is to be over or around the shoe on the foot or sole of the shoes.

18 Mouth Guards & Braces A wrestler with braces must have a mouth guard that covers the braces. This may be the traditional style mouth guard OR may be the newer device where the guard fits directly over the braces. Both styles are legal in Michigan.
19 UNIFORMS: Rule 4-1-1a-c HANDOUT Compression shorts or shorts designed for wrestling: Minimum 4-inch inseam that shall not extend below the knee. Min.4 inseam Shall have an elastic waistband. Shall not have exposed belt loops, drawstrings, zippers, snaps, buttons, or pockets. Must be school-issued. Minimum 4 inseam Check the Coaches Box on the wrestling page of the MHSAA website for more information.

31 RULE 6-6-4a1: Dual Scoring Error RULE 6-6-5a1: Tournament Scoring Error INCORRECT SCORE The score of the previous match is erroneous (PlayPic A). If the offended contestant has not left the mat area and the next match on that mat has not started (PlayPic B), the error can be corrected. A B
32 Rule 7-1-2: illegal maneuvers A full, straight-back suplay and the straight-back salto are illegal.
33 Rule 7-1-5w: illegal maneuvers A front flip and/or front hurdle over an opponent in the standing position is ILLEGAL.

60 26. During a dual meet, a match ends with the score 6-4. Wrestler B is the apparent winner and Wrestler A refuses to participate in the end of match procedure. Wrestler A will be warned that in the future he should be a good sport There will be a one team point deduction for flagrant misconduct from Team A There will be a one team point deduction for unsportsmanlike conduct from Team A There will be a three team point deduction for unsportsmanlike conduct from Team A
61 27. When the defensive wrestler stands, with one or both arms trapped and is lifted off the mat by the offensive wrestler. The referee shall: Move to a position to catch the defensive wrestler Watch the defensive wrestler for signs of stress Caution the offensive wrestler to be careful Immediately stop the match
