1 Beach Volleyball Skills Recommended Baseline Introduction: It is important to understand that competing at the national or collegiate level requires a degree of skills and dedication. Skill levels vary across the country. The purpose of this document is to offer coaches a baseline to coach towards, and to set player and parent expectations of playing at the national level competitively. The document can also provide benchmarks by which improvements can be measured. This guide will help players train and better prepare for regional and national program tryouts.

5 JUNIORS / ADULT - EQUIVLENCY GOALS The chart below is the recommended equivalency for placement in adult beach or grass tournaments for highly competitive juniors in regional or national Beach-HP programs. NOTE* By rule of thumb : Juniors playing up in adult divisions are in the right division if they can win 50% of matches or more. If juniors can make it to semi-finals in the division, they may consider moving up a division in their next event. Adjustments should be considered based on the size and competitive level of the event.
