If a judge is not handing out place tickets for their individual races they are asked to keep order at the finish line. ALL COMPETITORS MUST HAND THEIR PLACE TICKET TO THEIR SCHOOL'S RECORDING TABLE. 3 CHECKPOINTS Checkpoint staff are asked to meet at the announcers table near the recorders tent at 9.10 am so you can be shown your position and receive instructions for that checkpoint. All runners are required to wear footwear (no spikes) 2. Each school may enter the following number of competitors:- 12 years - 6 competitors 13 years - 16 years - 8 competitors 17 years 18 years - 6 competitors 3. In the 12, 17 and 18 years age group only the first 4 place getters receive points. In all other age groups, only the first 6 receive points. Teams with fewer than the correct number of runners, i.e. 4 (12, 17 and 18yrs) or 6 (13-16yrs) will be deemed to have non-finishers. Each non-finisher receives points equaling the number of runners who actually competed. 4. Competitors must run in their correct age division and are restricted to one event. 5. At the conclusion of his/her event each competitor must show their finishers ticket to the recorder at their school's table and wait to have their name and position recorded. 6. The school with the lowest point score wins the competition.

4 7. The first 8 runners per event qualify to attend the Regional Carnival - the first 6 as the team and the last 2 as reserves. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. A canteen with drinks and snacks will operate on the day from the kiosk adjacent to the main arena. Students are however, advised to bring their own lunch. 2. In the event of extremely poor weather, which would affect the safety of runners, the carnival will be postponed. Schools will be notified by 7:15 am if this is the case, however schools/students need to check CHS website:- to confirm postponement. If it is wet but not unsafe to run on the day students will be relocated to the large Pickering Pavilion when not competing. 3. St. Johns Ambulance have been organised to attend on the day, however, schools are advised to bring their own first aid kit and ensure students are suitably warmed up before competing. 4. Can checkpoint staff endeavor to have a mobile phone with them and to give their number to the Carnival Referee. (Particularly CP s E, I, O, Q,) N.B. There will be mobile phone staff sign on sheet at the recorders table for all Checkpoint staff to list their number and copy the Carnival Organisers number prior to walking the track 5. The 18, 17 and 16 years boys all run the blue course (5500m). To make it easier for the judges to distinguish runners, the 17 years boys will wear a dark blue ribbon whilst the 16 and 18 years will wear a sky blue ribbon. The cross-country is divided into 3 courses, each course shown on a separate map. 1. COURSE A: the 3000 metre course is shown on MAP 1, as a RED line and will be marked on the day with RED signs. 2. COURSE B: the 4000 metre course is shown on MAP 2, as a YELLOW line and will be marked on the day with YELLOW signs. N.B. The finish from CP W is marked as a DASHED YELLOW LINE 3. COURSE C: the 5500 metre course is shown on MAP 3, as a BLUE and will be marked on the day with BLUE signs. N.B. The finish from SECOND TIME at CP W is marked with a DASHED BLUE LINE
