4 WELCOME The 2017 Cup Regatta will be the eleventh. Since our first event in 2007, the fleet is bigger, the standard of sailing is better and the social calendar that accompanies the racing ensures an entertaining long weekend, no matter how well your boat performs. We will again be joined by members of The Classic Yacht Association of New Zealand, numbering 10 this year. We are hoping for some country Victorian and interstate members to also join us. We have also received the donation of a Perpetual trophy which must be the most significant in yachting for decades. Come to the historic unveiling at Friday night's Cocktail Party at Royal Yacht Club of Victoria Finally, we have retained and added significantly to the fleet through your hard work. General information session for Guineas Invitational Skippers and crews Rigging and allocation of RYCV Elliott Sail Training dinghies. On water viewing briefing for CYAA members and supporters. COCKTAIL FUNCTION Friday November hrs. Cup Regatta welcome reception at Royal Yacht Club of Victoria A catered event that requires pre-event ticketing@ $40.00 pp, bar prices. Use 2017 Cup Regatta entry form for tickets DRINKS ON BOARD Saturday November hrs On completion of racing all skippers and crews are invited to visit other Classics to celebrate the Cup Regattas first day of Classic Yacht racing. OUR HOSTS AT RYCV Saturday November 4ᵗh; Sunday November 5ᵗh; Monday November 6ᵗh 0830 hrs.. Coffee with bacon and egg rolls on the 0845 daily pre-race briefing on the RYCV after deck. 6 3 November FRIDAY 1500 Classics 1505 Tumlarens/Dragons 1510 Inter Dominion THE GUINEAS A one of a kind Classic Yacht racing event. Three sets of Classic Yachts racing teams in a points scoring event conducted over a maximum of three twenty minute races. Separate Sailing Instructions are issued for these races For the Classics this will be the sixth occasion, for the Elliots the 4ᵗh occasion. For the Tumlarens and Dragons teams this will be the inaugural event and a last chance pre regatta boat, skipper and crew tune up. 4 November SATURDAY 1000 hrs THE CUP REGATTA DAY 1 The main event. Two mass starts are scheduled for first day of 2017 Cup Regatta racing Warning signal for first race of the 2017 Cup Regatta is 0955 hrs. Courses to be selected by RYCV Race Committee First leg for both Saturday races is a beat to a laid weather mark. Observe signals on Race Committee Vessel Thorsen for warning signal time of race two THE TONY BLAKE PERPETUAL TROPHY Awarded to the Classic Yacht with the lowest aggregated point score over the Cup Regatta and the two previous Summer and Winter race series. Trophy points are based on a double regatta points score and Summer and Winter series points. THE GUINEAS TROPHY S Awarded to the lowest combined scoring team of two pairs of selected yachts after a maximum of three twenty minute races conducted on Friday November 3. Best combined scoring Tumlaren and Dragon team Best combined scoring Elliot 5.2 Inter Dominion Dinghy Team STRADBROKE II TROPHY Awarded to the Cup Regatta s Classic Yacht with the lowest aggregated points score for all the conducted races of the 2017 Cup Regatta COL BANDY TROPHY Awarded to the Cup Regatta s Classic Yacht with the lowest aggregated points score for all the conducted races of the 2017 Cup Regatta

7 SAILING PROGRAM SUNDAY 5 November 1000 hrs THE CUP REGATTA DAY 2 Day two of 2017 Cup Regatta racing Two mass starts are scheduled. Warning signal for race three is 0955 hrs. Courses to be selected by RYCV Race Committee First leg for all Sunday races is a beat to a laid weather mark. Observe signals on Race Committee Vessel Thorsen for warning signal time of race four. MONDAY 6 November 1000 hrs THE CUP REGATTA DAY 3 One race for day three of the 2017 cup Regatta A pursuit start for the third day. Warning signal is 0955 hrs. Course to be selected by RYCV Race Committee First leg is to the gate formed by Channel Lateral mark 20 and the Workshops Pier. Allocated course to be then sailed. Marina finish and then on to Cup Regatta BBQ for Cup Regatta Trophy presentations REGATTA TROPHIES THE TRANS TASMAN TROPHY Awarded to the lowest points scoring member from the Classic Yacht Association of New Zealand. THE RMYS UIRA TROPHY The UIRA trophy of coffee pot was originally the Major Ballenger Cup and was only recently recovered. It was won by Uira (Mr. Gidgeon Palmer) in its first race atr St. Kilda afgter being launched in 1896 and donated back to the RMYS in 1973 by Mr. Chas Marshall Pty Ltd for a Tumlaren distance race. For the Cup Regatta it will be awarded to the first over the line Tumlaren in the Pursuit race. Uira is being restored by CYAA member Peter Denniston. CONCOURS d ELEGANCE TROPHY The CYANZ members are tasked to decide which 2017 Cup Regatta entrant best represents the ethos of the CYAA. The trophy is a work of art wooden boat hook donated by the Tim Phillips Wooden Boat shop of Sorrento. THE INTERDOMINION TROPHY Awarded to the lowest points scoring team from the CYAA or CYANZ. Association of New Zealand. The challenge trophy will be raced for over a maximum of three twenty minute race on Friday November 3 The RYCV Sail Training Elliot dinghies will be used for these races
