MARINE SURVEYORS MARINE CONSULTANT 38 OAK HILL LANE ELKTON, MD SURVEY REPORT INSURANCE SURVEY SURVEY NO. xxxx MAY 9, 2016 ******************************************** TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: This is to certify that the undersigned surveyor at the request of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, attended the sailboat in and out of the water on the 9 th day of May in the year 2016, at Summit North Marina, Bear Delaware, and did survey said vessel for Mr. xxxxxxx, while representing his interest in obtaining marine insurance. The vessel is an Amel Super Maramu 53 ketch, built by Chantiers Amel, located at 8 Rue Joseph Cugnot, BP80015, Perigny, Cedex-FRANCE, (telephone number +33(0) ), in the year 1992, as hull identification number xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. The vessel s approximate measurements are: LOA 52 6, LWL 41 4, BEAM 15 1, DRAFT 6 9, BALLAST 12,320 lbs., and DISPLACEMENT 32,000 lbs. The vessel s documentation number is xxxxxxx, which will expire February 28, ALL MAJOR HULL MEMBERS, wherever accessible, together with all surfaces, joints, bonds, fillets, webs, bulkheads, and hard curve areas were carefully inspected with particular care being devoted to areas of normal stress concentrations and possible bulkheads or other hard spots. Field methods of sounding and visual sighting were used. Also, the use of a moisture meter to determine the moisture content of the hull, decks, and other areas which could retain moisture causing damage to the vessel. HULL CONSTRUCTION: the hull is solid handlaid laminate composed of biaxial cloth set in polyester resin. The cloth is a special flat woven type created especially for Amel that bonds to itself with minimal voids without intervening layers of mat. Amel also applies a proprietary blister barrier coating directly underneath the gelcoat on all its boats. Balsa-cored decks on Amels are installed with the hull still in the mold, and the joint is laminated with six layers of cloth so hull and deck together ultimately form a single skin structure. Inside the Super Maramu there are four full-height watertight bulkheads (two are fitted with watertight interior doors), that were also MEMBER ABYC, IAAI, and ASNT SOCIETY OF ACCREDITED MARINE SURVEYORS INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MARINE SURVEYING

The deck is solid laminate anywhere hardware in installed; all hardware is mounted with stainless-steel fasteners tapped into stainless-steel plates buried in the laminate. a) The fiberglass to resin ratio is good. b) The resin appears to have cured well. c) The foredeck appears to be solid with no significant delamination or voids. d) Both the starboard side and port side catwalks are solid and in good, structural condition with no significant delamination or voids. e) The cockpit appears to be solid and in good, structural condition with no significant delamination. f) The cabin top appears to be solid and in good, structural condition with no significant delamination or voids. The mast step appears to be in good order with no deflection to the cabin top. g) The hull runs fair and in good condition. There are no signs of damage. h) The transom appears to be solid and in good condition. i) There are gel coat blisters on the bottom of the hull. No voids were found in the layup of the bottom. No signs of major repairs, damage, or hard grounding.

6 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 3 of 22 HULL CONSTRUCTION (cont.) j) The hull to keel seam is in good condition. k) The keel bolts were not accessible for inspection. l) Where accessible for inspection, the hull to deck seam appears to be in good condition with no signs of separation. m) The tabbing accessible for inspection appears to be in good order and well secured to the hull supports and structural members. n) The bulkheads appear to be in good condition. o) The compression post supports on the main and the mizzen masts are in good condition. p) The engine bed is in good condition with no signs of separation or structural fatigue. q) The deck supports accessible for inspection appear to be in good condition. r) The pan system is well secured and in good condition with no signs of structural failure. s) The interior shows well.

MACHINERY: said vessel s auxiliary power is an 85 horsepower Westerbeke model 82-BA naturally aspirated, fresh water cooled, diesel engine. The engine s serial number is xxxxxxxxxx. I have noted the following: a) The water intake hose is in fair condition. The hose is double hose clamped. b) The exhaust hoses are in fair condition. The exhaust system is double hose clamped as per ABYC standard P sections 1, 2, and 3. c) The water circulation hoses are in good condition. d) The riser is in good condition. The water jacket is in good condition. Note, this was only an external inspection.

8 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 5 of 22 MACHINERY (cont.) e) A boot is not installed to cover the starter cable terminal end, nor is there a cover over the positive terminal ends on the alternator. ABYC standard states continuously energized parts, such as positive battery terminals and both ends of all wires connected thereto, shall be physically protected to prevent accidental short circuits. Protection shall be boots or other means of protection that cover all energized surfaces. f) The linkage appears to be in good order. g) The stainless steel muffler appears to be well secured and in good condition. Refer to the sea trial for leaks and additional comments. h) The motor mounts are in good condition. The motor mounts are the original. The bolts are tight.

9 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 6 of 22 GENERATOR: 7 kw Yanmar generator, serial number I have noted the following: a) The water intake hose is in fair condition. The hose is double hose clamped. b) The exhaust hoses are in good condition. The exhaust system is double hose clamped. c) The downpipe is in good condition. d) The Vetus plastic muffler is in good condition. e) The starter cable end is not covered. f) The battery was disconnected from the generator. STEERING SYSTEM: mechanical wheel steering system. The pins, cable, two tiller arms, and other mechanical fittings accessible for inspection are in good condition. Refer to the sea trial for additional comments.

The vessel is equipped with Icom VHF, Raytheon depth finder, Raytheon knot meter, Raymarine autopilot, Garman RC530 Chart Plotter/GPS, Raytheon wind, Furuno AIS, Raytheon R-70 radar, Icom MC802 shortwave, and a Plastimo compass which is in good condition. BOW THRUSTER: retracting bow thruster which appears to be properly installed and in good condition. Refer to the sea trial for operation. RUDDER: fiberglass skeg attached rudder. The rudder is solid and in good condition. There was no play in the rudder shaft log. PROP: three-blade bronze prop, which is in good condition. When tested, the blades ran out true.

11 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 8 of 22 SKEG: well bonded to the hull. GALVANIC PROTECTION: the vessel is equipped with sacrificial anode protection. The plate zincs are in poor condition and have signs of stray current. The vessel does have a bonding system, but the engine intake is not bonded. RIGGING: HARDWARE - the two Lewmar #58 and two Lewmar #40 two-speed, self-tailing winches are well secured to the coamings, in good condition, and did work. The two Lewmar #16 two-speed, self-tailing winches are well secured to the main mast, in good condition, and did work. The two Lewmar #44 two-speed, self-tailing winches are well secured to the main mast, in good condition, and did work. The Anderson winch for the mainsheet traveler is in good condition. The two Lewmar #6 winches are well secured to the mizzen mast and in good condition. The Lewmar #40 mainsheet winch is well secured and in good condition. The vessel is equipped with an Amel roller furling system for the headsail. The foil appears to be straight. The base is electric to furl the sail up and in good working order. The furling system did work.

12 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 9 of 22 RIGGING (cont.) The sheaves and blocks are in satisfactory condition. STANDING RIGGING a) Aluminum deck step mast with boom and double spreaders. The mast appears to be straight and in good condition. The boom appears to be straight. All stainless steel hardware accessible for inspection appear to be in good condition. The vessel has a furling system for the mainsail, which appears to be in good condition. The furling system is electric. The mizzen mast and boom appear to be in good condition. The masts were not unstepped. b) The open-face turnbuckles appear to be in good condition. The turnbuckles have ample adjustment remaining. I did not detect any damaged threads.

13 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 10 of 22 RIGGING (cont.) c) The swedged ends do appear to be in good condition. I did not detect any cracks in the swedging. d) The stays and shrouds appear to be in good order. e) The chain plates appear to be well secured with no signs of distortion to the hull. RUNNING RIGGING: in good condition. SAILS: refer to inventory list for sails. VENTILATION: does meet all requirements as per U.S.C.G. regulation and ABYC standard H-32. The ventilation system is natural air with a caged type blower. The blower worked at time of my inspection. The ventilation hoses are in good condition. FUEL SYSTEM: the vessel is equipped with one stainless steel fuel tank. I have noted the following: a) The deck fill port is not properly marked DIESEL as per ABYC standard H b) The fuel fill hose is not type A-2 hose. The hose is in poor condition. The hose is not double hose clamped at both ends.

14 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 11 of 22 FUEL SYSTEM (cont.) c) The feed hose from the tank to the filter could not be determined to be type A-1 hose. The other feed hoses are type A-1 hose and in good condition. Also, all hoses connections are over copper tubing to make the connection, which should be made with hose barb and properly clamped. d) The fuel tank is vented. The vent hose is in fair condition. e) The fuel tank appears to be in good condition with no visual signs of leaks. f) The installation of the fuel tank does comply with ABYC standards. g) The fuel tank is grounded. However, the ground was found to be somewhat faulty. h) The one shut off valve worked. ELECTRICAL: 24 / 12 VOLT SYSTEMS - negative ground system with a circuit breaker panel, two on/off battery switches, and a Phase III 24 volt battery charger. I have noted the following: a) The vessel is equipped with six Series 27 acid plate batteries. The batteries are secured to the hull as per ABYC standard E The positive terminal ends are covered as required by ABYC standard E , but the covers are not installed properly.

15 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 12 of 22 ELECTRICAL (cont.) b) I did not detect any wiring violations and/or safety hazards with the 12 volt system, except for open positive terminal blocks in the engine compartment. 240 / 120 VOLT SYSTEMS - 50 amp service with a circuit breaker panel. The system appears to have been factory installed and in good order. There was no signs of overheating on the back side of the panel. However, no GFI receptacles are installed in the heads and galley. Also, the receptacles in the heads do not have a cover plates. ABYC standard states if installed in a head, galley, machinery space, or on a weather deck, the receptacle shall be protected by a Type A (nominal 5 milliamperes) Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). ABYC standard E states that receptacles installed in locations subject to rain, spray or splash shall be weatherproof when not in use. Weatherproofing may be provided by means such as spring-loaded, self-closing, or snap-type receptacle covers. The vessel is equipped with a 50 amp yellow shore power cords, which is in good condition. The Pro Sine 1800 inverter was properly installed. AIR CONDITIONERS: approximate 6,000 BTU Marine Air unit in the forward cabin, which is the serial number is not accessible. A 16,000 BTU Cruisaire in the main cabin, which the serial number is not accessible. A Cruisaire in the aft stateroom, serial number The water intake hoses are in fair condition and are double hose clamped at the seacock. The units appear to have been properly wired and adequately vented.

16 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 13 of 22 BILGE PUMPS: the midship bilge is equipped with a 24 volt electric pump with a 1 discharge. The pump is secured to the hull. The pump is properly wired. The pump did work. The discharge hoses are in fair condition. The bilge is also equipped with a manual pump, which is in good condition. FIRE PROTECTION: ABYC standard A-4 Table II states that a vessel 53 in length is required to be equipped with four B-1 type, U.S.C.G. approved fire extinguishers or ABC dry chemical fire extinguishers, mounted in the following locations: outside engine compartment, crew s quarters, steering position and galley, if equipped with a stove, or passenger cockpit. A lb. BC dry chemical fire extinguisher is mounted in the aft cabin. Halotron fire extinguishers are located by the galley and forward cabin, which do not have current inspections. The engine compartment is equipped with a Halon 1211fire extinguisher, which does not have a current inspection. The vessel is not equipped with carbon monoxide detectors or smoke detectors. SEACOCKS, STRAINERS, AND THRU-HULL FITTINGS: ABYC standard H states the seacocks are readily accessible as installed and oriented that their handles are easy to operate as per ABYC standard H The thru-hull fittings have backup boards, except for the aft head intake. I have noted the following: a) The bronze ball valve for the engine intake worked. b) The bronze ball valve for the generator, air conditioner and the freezer are feed off a manifold, which is fed by a single bronze ball valve, which was found to be in good working order. c) The bronze ball valve for the forward head sink drain worked. d) The bronze ball valves for the air conditioner discharges worked. e) The bronze ball valves for the head discharge fore and aft are in good working order. f) The bronze ball valves for the forward and aft head intakes worked. g) The bronze ball valve for the raw water is t d for the forward head and forward air conditioner, which is in good working order. h) The Groco 750 strainer for the A/C and Perko strainer for the engine intake are in satisfactory

17 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 14 of 22 SEACOCKS, STRAINERS, AND THRU-HULL FITTINGS condition. i) The thru-hull fittings above the water line are in fair condition. The thru-hull fittings below the waterline appear to be well secured; they are painted over. PLUMBING: the hoses and lines have been properly ran throughout the vessel. The hoses below the waterline are double hose clamped. The drains, faucets, and fixtures are in fair condition. The vessel is equipped with one fiberglass fresh water tank with a capacity of approximately 250 gallons. The 24 volt Shur Flo water pressure pump appears to have been properly installed and in good condition. The six gallon electric Attwood hot water heater appears to be properly installed. GALLEY: the appliances appear to have been properly installed. The galley is equipped with the following: a) Double sinks with a faucet for pressure hot and cold water. The drain hose is in fair condition. b) Force 10 propane stove with an oven. The unit appears to be in good condition. The stove is equipped with a safety switch, which is located behind the stove. The stove does gimbal. The propane tank does not have a pressure gauge. ABYC standard A states that each

18 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 15 of 22 GALLEY (cont.) system shall be fitted with a pressure gauge. The gauge shall read the cylinder pressure side of the pressure regulator. Note, the purpose of the gauge is to provide a quick and easy way to test the system for leakage. c) The two Frigo refrigerators are well secured and in good order. d) The Panasonic microwave oven is not properly secured. HEADS: the vessel is equipped with an electric marine toilet and a manual marine toilet with plastic and fiberglass holding tanks and a Jabsco macerator. The head water intake hoses and discharge hoses are in good condition. DECK HARDWARE: the deck hardware, such as cleats, chocks, and railing, are well bonded to the hull. However, the forward starboard gate stanchion is loose. As part of routine maintenance, I would advise pulling the deck hardware and rebedding in a polysulfide compound. NAVIGATION LIGHTS: the red and green bow light and stern light worked at time of the survey. The deck lights worked. The vessel is not equipped with a steaming light. Also, the lens on the stern light is in poor condition.

19 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 16 of 22 PORTS AND HATCHES: I have noted the following: a) The Diot forward hatch is well secured to the deck and in good condition. b) The two Diot skylight hatches is well secured and in good order. c) The aluminum opening ports are well secured and in good condition. d) The fixed windows in the main cabin are well secured and in good condition. e) The fiberglass hatch at the companionway and plywood drop boards are in good condition. f) The two anchor hatches are in good condition. The deck hatches are in good condition. SWIM PLATFORM: molded into the transom. The platform is solid and in good structural condition. GROUND TACKLE: CQR 45 and Danforth anchors with approximately 3/8 chain and three strand nylon line. The ground tackle is properly sized for said vessel and in good condition. WINDLASS: 24 volt Lofran windlass with foot switch. The windlass appears to have been properly installed. The windlass is well secured. CANVAS: the bimini is in good condition.

21 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 19 of 22 RECOMMENDATIONS STRUCTURAL ITEMS AND SAFETY ITEMS a) Cover the positive terminal ends on the engine, such as cable end for the starter and alternator ends. b) Install a master disconnect (ON/OFF) switch for the generator. c) Cover open positive terminal ends on the generator. d) Fuel fill port needs to be labeled DIESEL. I would suggest to replace the fuel fill port with a new diesel fuel port. e) Replace the fuel fill hose with A-2 type fuel hose, and each end of the hose must be double hose clamped. f) Fuel hose connections will need to be replaced with barb fittings on the end of the copper tubing. g) Section of fuel hose off the Racors need to be replace with A-1 hose and properly clamped on each end. h) Positive terminal ends on the batteries need to be properly covered. i) Cover open terminal blocks in the engine compartment. j) Install GFI receptacles in the galley and the heads. Receptacles in the head area need to have water proof cover plates. k) Install new fire extinguishers or have the existing extinguisher inspected and tagged. Extinguishers mounted in lockers or cabinets need ISO labels. l) Install new carbon monoxide detectors. m) Install new smoke detectors. Note there are no marine grade smoke detectors. RV detectors will last longer than the ones made for the home. n) 1211 Halon in engine compartment needs to be inspected.

23 INSURANCE SURVEY #xxxx PAGE 21 of 22 COMMENTS Overall, the vessel surveyed out well. Said vessel is a European built vessel, so not all items would comply with US standards. The vessel does appear to be structurally sound. There also has been a new engine installed. The vessel can be considered an upper end boat, well built, with great craftsmanship interior and hull layup. The 240/120 volt system has had a new panel installed. CONCLUSION Said vessel is suitable manufacturer s intended purpose. With consideration given to the condition of the vessel, optional equipment, market condition, and the use of the BUC Book, it is hereby my professional opinion that an appraised value for said vessel can be placed at an insured value of $261, A replacement value can be set at $1,455, The sole purpose of this report is to obtain marine insurance and is in no way to be considered for purchase or financing.
