1 The New Zealand Open Kite Foil National Championships Saturday 4 th, Sunday 5 th and Monday 6 th of February 2017 The Organising Authority is The Takapuna Boating Club inc., NOTICE OF RACE 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1, shall apply. 1.3 Appendix T, Arbitration, will apply 2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1 The regatta is open to Kites that comply with the International Kite Racing Class, Rules for Formula and Foil. 2.2 Eligible Kiters may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, to Takapuna Boating Club, 39 The Strand, P O Box , Takapuna, Auckland 0740., by 1000 Saturday 4th February FEES 3.1 The Entry Fee is NZ$ SCHEDULE 1

2 4.1 Registration: Saturday 4 th February 2017 From 0900 To Dates of racing: 4 th February 2017 Briefing 1115 First warning th February 2017 First warning th February 2017 First warning On Monday 6 th February no warning signal will be made after 1700 hours. 5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The Sailing Instructions will be consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, The Standard Sailing Instructions. Supplementary Sailing instructions will be available at Registration, on the official noticboard at Takapuna Boating Club Main Deck, and on the Takapunaboating.org.nz website. 6 VENUE 6.1 The regatta will be sailed in the waters off Takapuna Beach 7 THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be Windward / Leeward with an offset at the top mark. (Course La) 8 PENALTY SYSTEM 8.1 Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty. 9 SCORING Five races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 2

3 (a) When fewer than six races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When from six to ten races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. (c) When eleven or more races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores. 10 SUPPORT BOATS Support boats shall be registered with the organising authority. 11 LAUNCHING Unless otherwise directed by the Organising Authority, all competing boats and equipment shall be launched and retrieved from Takapuna Beach. 12 RADIO COMMUNICATION 13 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. PRIZES Prizes may be awarded. 14 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. Decision to Race.
