2 It s Been A Good Year! I was honored to serve as Commodore in 2012 Weather was exceptional; big PLUS Busy but productive year all fronts I ll focus primarily on wharf reconstruction 2
3 Financial Stability Fee increase was first & most important step forward $500 in 2012 $250 in 2013 $250 in 2014 Stability until 2015 or beyond Leveraged funds to complete wharf work and improve our financial picture 3
4 Necessary Step Forward Result: $80K new money in 2012 $120K in 2013 $160K in 2014 We continued our restraint program Little or no capital this year We are in reasonably good shape financially Even better future years 4
5 WHARF WORK BEGUN I appreciated membership support..and I WANT TO REWARD YOUR CONFIDENCE! As you can see, we re delivering on the wharf work Work has begun Demolition first 5
6 Repayment Plan We are allocating approximately $100K each year to debt repayment Use additional funding for operating expenses and general facilities maintenance and repairs There are other needs 6

11 Treasurer s Report Donna Marie Humphries Year in Review at October 31, 2012 (continued): Existing long-term debt $245k Outstanding Line of Credit $60k New long-term debt anticipated by end of wharf work of $1.2 million 11
12 Treasurer s Report Donna Marie Humphries Updated RNYC property appraisal anticipated to be completed by December 15, 2012 based on best use valuation Long term debt arrangement to follow based on new appraised value 12
13 Treasurer s Report Donna Marie Humphries We are going to continue our fiscal restraint where possible to ensure vital areas of need are addressed including: Kitchen fire suppression and propane systems upgrade Boat-launch ramp repairs 13
14 Treasurer s Report Donna Marie Humphries Looking Forward: The increase approved in the spring of 2012 for fiscal years 2013 and 2014 are projected to return an additional $40K in revenue each year ($80K additional new money) Easily service the new debt for the foreseeable future when combined with the existing 2012 increase of $80K *** 14
15 Social activities Peter Lawrie The Club continues to host a number of annual social events. Christmas Party, Kids Christmas Party, Commodores Cocktail Party, Flag Officer-New Members Night, Past Commodores Night, Sail Past As well as a number of Racing and Power Boat Events All social activities generally well attended. Always looking for ideas from members on how to improve social activities In 2013 make a commitment to attend more RNYC functions. IT IS YOUR CLUB. Some clothing still available for sale in time for Christmas. A huge THANK YOU to Sid and Bernice Hynes for hosting the Commodores Cocktail Party
16 Facilities & Grounds PETER LAWRIE and ALASDAIR BLACK The 2012 Clean-up Day was a resounding success and gave us a great start to the boating season, intend to repeat in 2013 watch for the date on the calendar Endeavored to limit expenditures this year and repair or replace only critical items Replaced several electrical boxes on wharves Completed some major repairs and replacement of critical parts on the boat travel lift Bought a number of spares for boat travel lift at very reasonable cost. Most of work done by in house staff Yard Staff will not be employed by RNYC this winter. ***
17 Sail Racing Dave Humphries Great weather conditions for most of the summer. Moved a Wednesday Night Race to St John s Harbour, in Conjunction with Port Authority Race. On the international scene, Two boats from the RNYC successfully completed the Route Halifax Saint Pierre Ocean Race. Bella J,and Nomad. Both finished the race in respectable time because of good following winds. Congratulations to all. The First Ocean One International Yacht Race was also run this year from Saint Pierre to St John s. Four boats from the RNYC competed for the trophies with Double Cross winning overall. Nomad War Eagle and Bella J also finished the race but it was a pretty long race due to very light wind.
18 Race Week 2012 Iceberg Rum Race Week saw some very close racing and a whole lot of wind seeing a few races cancelled but a Great Time was had by all at the Dinner & Dance. Thanks to Iceberg Rum for their sponsorship and support again this year and also to Tom Hickey and his band mates from Turbulence for an awesome show. ***
19 Sail School Dennis Hanlon Offerings included: 8 one-week camps race week Grand Bank Cup Adult Learn to Sail program completes 3 rd successful year A year of rebuilding: lost 5 of 13 coaches from prior year; all senior new director Simon Rees; new head coach Justin Bean registration levels comparable to last year profit up slightly due to lower costs

33 Easter Seals Regatta ANOTHER GREAT DAY! Heavy winds but it didn t dampen the enthusiasm of the group or the fun we had. Full contingent of Easter Seal Kids and families. Over $16,000 raised, RNYC member contributions up 20%! Big Thank You to our Sponsors, Century 21 Sellers Choice, Terra Nova Foods. Special Thank You to Eg Walters and Woodrow French for their time and support as CHAIR and Patron respectively. Last but not least a BIG THANK YOU to you the members that made this all possible! ***

Let me know if you feel you are still not getting sufficient information. Enhance the website by adding a members only section which will see the addition of more information in the coming year Spindrift format and content improved Web site was modified to attempt to improve ease of use and add new areas of interest to members Achieved goal of improving media involvement with assistance of club members. ***
