In no why is it meant or to be used for training purposes. It furthermore is in no way meant to be all conclusive or to undermine any other product or method that is used for A/C recovery.

4 General: Airplane recovery Airplane Recovery (AR) is needed when: A/C goes of runway at take off or landing plane had an emergency landing due to weather or technical reasons Airplane recovery is a complex and time consuming job Every recovery is different due to ground and plane condition Closed runway or inactive airplane costs money! AR is responsibility of airport and carrier
5 AR: Why complex? Catch 22: airplane is a heavy object, but can only withstand a little amount of stress ( point load ) on the structure Note: there are more reasons to the complexity of AR, but this is the major one that effects the others. Furthermore every recovery is different and requires special training. Options: 1. Lift with maximum of 0.5 or even 0.25 bar on the body 2. Lift from dedicated lifting areas, the so called jacking points
6 AR: Why complex? The tools that are used for AR are: 1. Low pressure bags 2. Hydraulic tripods 3. Cranes are rarely available, hard to position and require partly dismantling of the wing These tools encounter several major problems when used contributing to the difficulty of AR
7 AR: Why complex? B A A B During lifting the lifting point shifts from A to B and therefore the angle between wing and ground changes. Bags and Jacks have difficulty to cope with the changing angle during continuous lifting.
8 AR: Why complex? Bags are too unstable and have the tendency to buckle out when lifting, especially between two non parallel surfaces (eg. ground and wing) For Jacks it is hard to follow the load during lifting Result: a very complex and time consuming operation, because...

Lift a small part with low pressure bags, stabilize with jack in jacking point, reposition bags and lift a small step again.
10 AR: Additional downsides tools Wing design is changing to more v-shaped Conventional straight wings Today s V-shaped wings Planes with modern wing-design are even harder to be lifted with conventional mattress-like air bags. When lifting they have a high risk of buckling out as they have difficulty to follow the load
11 AR: Additional downsides tools Unstable at great height For greater height larger surface area is needed. Although capacity increases positioning becomes harder or is not possible For low pressure bags to reach greater height and lifting force they need to become bigger making them harder to transport and position
12 AR: Additional downsides tools Aircraft wings have limited space for lifting due to: Antennas, flaps & slats, sharp objects

15 Continuous and controllable lifting R2S is able to lift over an angle and retain vertical and horizontal stability making continuous lifting possible AB R2S is ready for the more V-shaped wing design

17 High performance NT bags: combine a huge lifting capacity with a large lifting height and stability Stroke: R2S has an extremely high of more then 500% The lifting capacity is 15 tons per column. column. The lifting capacity can be increased by increasing the amount of modules used
18 Modular and flexible to position R2S is built out of a modular program, making it able to reach any needed height and lifting capacity with one compact system meters // tons The modular and compact setup enables R2S to be positioned optimally and therefore avoid objects easily Limited space available

21 Modular and flexible to position The modular setup of R2S makes it able to lift both small and large planes Small aircraft can be lifted with small modules R2S can lift in a small area to great height
22 Rapidly deployed Assembly is easy and straightforward, due to its design and self-locking pins and can be assembled within 30 minutes R2S is compact and lightweight assembled on the recovery location for easy shipping preassembled for even quicker deployment
23 Additional benefits Very long shelf life ability to stay dry from inside heavy duty vulcanized rubber ability to be repaired if ever needed metal parts are protected against corrosion Expand program over time start small and expand when needed
24 Additional benefits Remote control no need to be under plane when lifting Multiple use The NT bags are originally designed for heavy duty rescue operations. If ever needed the NT bags can be deployed and lift structures up to 132 tons (145 US tons) High safety factors Highest 4x safety pressure, bursting pressure above 40 bar for NT bags Build in pressure release valve Anti projectile connectors
25 Working of R2S design Extreme stability due to stability structure that creates stiff column to prevent buckling and ability to lift over angle Lightweight due to high quality aluminum and composite materials Maximum control by using only a minimum amount of low pressure bags to create stability in the structure. The low pressure bags mold around the A/C structure. Easy to transport due to stiff structure Fast assembly due to self locking pins and straightforward design Flexible due to modular setup for any height or capacity High performance due to use of NT bags: 132 tons Lifting capacity High stroke High safety factors Super long life
26 Conclusions R2S R2S is a system capable of following the load and maintain stability enabling continuous and controllable recovery R2S is high performance and compact due to use of high pressure NT bags R2S is modular to enable lifting on any type of A/C, big or small and allow optimum placement for rapid deployment R2S is rapidly deployed due to straight forward design and structure R2S system can be expanded over time depending on the needs R2S has a long shelf live and parts can be replaced if ever needed Originally designed for rescue operations NT bags can be used for other heavy duty applications
