2 INTRODUCTION 2008 Beijing Olympic As China prepares to host the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Arrow Dive Club prepares to host its Second China Dive Camp & Tour in China's capital as well. Once again, join Coach Deliang Li, 1988 Olympic Bronze Medalist, for a summer experience your children and you will never forget China Dive Camp. Last year's divers enjoyed greatly and benefited immensely from the rigorous training with China's world class coaches and the top divers, and the youths will never forget the vast cultural and historical expanse they experienced as they toured from Beijing through Shanghai. Many of them will attend this year's camp as well, and would be more than happy to share last year's experiences with you. Coach Li will bring your family with him to train in Beijing as China's own 2008 Olympic Dive Team prepares to defend their reputation in the forthcoming Olympic Games. Your children will train with China s top divers under the watchful eye of the very same world class coaches who have churned out China s numerous Olympic gold medals. Your children and you will also tour the great expanse of Chinese history, culture, and geography - from China s capital city of Beijing to historic Xian to modern Shanghai. This summer trip will provide your family an athletic and historic journey of epic proportions. The camp incorporates every facet of diving training. Divers will begin the camp with intense physical conditioning to increase their flexibility and stamina. Once physically prepared, they will refine the fundamentals of diving, improve technique, and practice new dives through state-of-the art training equipment and diving facilities. As well, they will learn mental disciplines to improve focus and concentration during critical moments of competition. This physical and mental training prepares divers not simply to rely upon coaches and others for progress, but to engage in self-evaluation and self-discipline. These skills not only will reflect themselves in markedly improved diving performance, but will contribute greatly to the divers' maturity as they learn to trust and depend upon themselves. And Other World Class Coaches 2005 China Diving Campers CHINA DIVE CAMP (August 16 August 21) Beijing, as China's capital, forms the springboard for its world class divers. The diving facilities provide not only training grounds, but have hosted numerous world class diving competitions as well. These official Olympic and world competition facilities provide the best arena for divers to thrive and compete under the watchful eye of the Olympic coaching staff. Our youths will live out the full experience of diving training and competition. They will live in the dormitories with other athletes and students to full immerse themselves in the lifestyle and mental disciplines of successful divers. They will have close access (walking distance) to diving facilities to facilitate ease of training, and of course to alleviate parental safety concerns. Last year's dive camp facilities consisted of an enormous indoor pool boasting minimum depth of at least 17 feet under every form of board or platform used in modern competition with state-of-the-art pool and training facilities. The divers trained on 4-one meter and 3-three meter springboards which used official Duraflex B springboards on concrete stands. And, those facilities had specially designed diving rigs support equipment to train and prepare each diver. Port-A-Pit spotting rigs were used to maintain safety on 10 trampolines and 10 dryland springboards. This year's facilities are expected to surpass the magnificent site of last year's summer training more details will follow as Coach Deliang Li finalizes this summer's plans in contemplation of Beijing's new Olympic facilities presently under construction. With the 2008 Olympics just around the corner, this Dive Camp provides an unparalleled opportunity not only to train in Chinese capital where the Olympic Games will take place, but also to watch as the sprawling metropolis transforms itself under international eyes to host the age-old Olympic tradition. 4 CHINESE TOURS AND ATTRACTIONS (August 22 - August 28) A licensed and bonded tour company has arranged a comprehensive tour of several cities of China. Visit Beijing China s capital - to see the Forbidden City of Chinese dynasties past. Visit historic Tiananmen Square and walk along the Great Wall. As China modernizes its capital from historic significance to host the 2008 Olympic Games, visit China's historic capital of Xi'an, where Terracotta Warriors once served to protect ancient Emperors, even beyond death. Finally, travel to Shanghai to see China s booming economy and financial center.
