Junior Carnival format preparation and back up location Various discussions on implementing the new carnival program as well back up provisions due to the forecast weather conditions. Beach events would not need to change with the lagoon to be used for younger age groups and the moving older age groups to the ruins. The Interbranch water events would need to be run that weekend as the team will be released on 9 November It was decided to continue to assess the weather conditions during the week with final decision on Sunday morning 6.2. Clash of Dates with State Champion Lifesaver and Nutri Grain Finals The from Umina SLSC requesting SLSCC approach SLSNSW to change the date of SLSNSW State Champion Life Saver or approach SLSA for a wild card entry to Australian Titles for Jemma Smith was presented to the meeting. 3 Rob Pidgeon at SLSNSW as well as adding it as an agenda item for the Combined Portfolio conference if needed. Director of Board of Surf Sports to request a change of date for SLSNSW State Champion Life Saver from Rob Pidgeon at SLSNSW Add a request to change the date of SLSNSW State Champion Life Saver to Combined Portfolio conference agenda if the request to SLSNSW is unsuccessful 7. 4 Strategic alliances within sport was discussed including the potential sports of athletics and royal lifesaving and examples of the kayaking club and Beachletics was also discussed. It was concluded that further discussions would be around planning for next season. Manager of special events to review SLSCC position and the potential strategic alliances EDO/ARRO discussion concluded that SLSCC will follow the SLSNSW requirements but need to determine what if any impact the EDO/ARRO requirements have for SLSCC 10. Reports Determine the impact of EDO/ARRO requirements have for SLSCC Clarify NSW First Aid restriction action point Add as agenda item for Combined Portfolio conference SLSNSW holding a second event on the same day as State Championships Best of Best Surf Boat Challenge and NSW Country Championships 10.1 SLSCC Support Officer Report Chris Styant Calendar changes since last meeting are: Assessor course cancelled 8/10 - remove Add Kracka Swansea Change date Facilitator workshop from 14th October to 21st October and rename title Youth Program Facilitator Workshop NPJIP - remove 15/10, 18/12 and change venues 19/11 Umina, 3/12 Shelley Training office course change to 3 & 4 Dec Spinal course 15/10 - cancel U9 - Open carnival 22/10 - venue Avoca change U12-Open Sydney water series venues updated 12/11 Fairy Meadow & 26/11 Woonona Masters carnival 14/11 Killcare added Country champ 11/12 Feb added NP U8-14 Nov 6 venue added Wamberal Streets Boat series R2-20/11 change location Swansea Belmont, this change was missed from calendar in June Directors Meeting - change from 15/11 to 8/11 Newcastle Permanent Junior Carnival on 6 Nov 2016 has a host venue at Wamberal Hi Vis vest colours further discussions concluded that orange and lime colours are not to be used. 5 10.2 Manager of Officials - Toni Jennar Issues 1 Dates for Level 1 Officials Courses September Monday 19 th and Tuesday 20 Cancelled lack of numbers October Monday 17 th and Tuesday 18 Soldiers 16 booked in 12 attended November Monday 21 st and Tuesday 22 Toowoon Bay December Monday 5 th and Tuesday 6 SLSCC HQ LEVEL 1 OFFICIALS COURSES I have ordered 30 Level 1 Officials Kits from SLSNSW. These kits will have new 35 th Edition Revised in them 2 JUNIOR OFFICIALS COURSE If any Clubs are going to facilitate a Junior Officials Course Can you please confirm date with me 3 At the U12 to Open Beach only Carnival and the Masters on 29th October had troubles with Clubs not allocating Officials. Had to make three announcements for clubs to provide. I am getting very frustrated with Clubs. It is a WHS issue, they either don t care or don t do the work before the carnival. Why should other Clubs carry them 4 Re Accreditation.????? Financial Implications Options 1. Accept the Manager of Officials Report 2. Seek clarification and further information from the Officials Manager Recommended: That the BOSS accepts the Officials Manager Report 35th Edition of Revised Surf Sports Manual is needed for various members of the Board and 4 facilitators Obtain reprint dates for 35th Edition Revised SSM Order 11 copies of 35th Edition Revised SSM for board members and facilitators once reprint dates provided by Officials Manager 10.3 Manager of Representative Teams Brett Harrod Interbranch appointments - Assistant Water Coach is Bridget Brosnan and Interbranch Chaperone is Annaleise Harrod Interbranch selectors will be meeting on Sunday 6 November 2016 before to select the team Interbranch team will be meeting on Friday night of the event and presenters have been arranged for the team talk on team principals Trans Tasman preparations are proceeding well with Annaleise Harrod being appointed as Trans Tasman Chaperone Board of Surf Sports Minutes 2 November 2016 Page 5 of 6

6 Trans Tasman venues have been announced as Omaha, Waipu and Takapuna That board recommend the purchase 30 signs for use by the Interbranch team Nominations to be sent to selectors once entries are closed Arrange for tents and credit card to be available for Interbranch team 10.4 Manager of Carnivals - Chris Gathercole Information provided in agenda item 6.1 Carnival format preparation and back up location 10.5 Manager of Boats Phil Lytham Streets Surf Boat Series To date 58 entries have been received for 2016/17 season, this is up 6 crews on last season. Round1 will be held on Sat OB, short course racing. Clothing and prizes have been ordered. Discussion on ESO/SEMC qualifications needed and who can attend the training Obtain a list of SMAR and SMBBM awards from SurfGuard and provide to Chris Gathercole, Phil Lytham and Toni Jennar 10.6 Manager of Gear Steward Graham Sherer Gear and equipment ready for carnivals New carnival radios are being trialled 10.7 Manager of Special Events Tony O Mara Newcastle Permanent Junior Ironperson ESO for the series is Bruce Gould.
