Non receipt of this document will not be taken as an excuse if an Athlete, Team Manager or the respective club does not comply with the requirements outlined. ENTRIES Entries close 5pm Monday 15 August Late Entries Close 7.30am Saturday 20 August 2011 and incur a $20 late fee NB: Competitor listing will be sent out Tuesday 16 August Please check competitor listing thoroughly and make sure the right competitors are in the correct events as charges will apply after 10am Thursday 18 August Location 69 Hasting Street Noosa Heads - Main Beach. How to Enter Via Carnival Manager for SLSQ members. See your Club administrator for details. Non - Members and Interstate Surf Life Savers download entry form from - Surf Sports - Carnival Entry. Entry Fee U11 to U14 - $15.00 per person U15 to Master - $20.00 per person Non SLSQ member - $25.00 per person Late entry please add $20.00 to entry fee's above - (these will be accepted up to 7.30am on race day - see administration) Dash for Cash - $10.00 payable on the day prior to event. Note : Late entries on race day must be paid in cash eg. U11 to U14 = $35 ; U15 to Master = $40 ; Non SLSQ member = $ Changes - If you have entered the wrong event you will have until 10 am Thursday 18 August to advise Noosa Heads SLSC Carnival Administrator of the change - after this time a fee of $20 will be payable. If change is advised on Race day fee is payable by cash. Clubs will be invoiced following event for entry fee - payment strictly 14 days. Craft Clarification Surf Ski : Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) approved ski (traditional carnival ski). Ocean Ski : Non approved SLSA ski. Malibu Board : SLSA approved board (traditional carnival board). Ocean Board : Non approved SLSA board. Nipper Board : SLSA approved board (traditional carnival board). Page 1 of 6

2 Commonly asked questions: Q. When will the Competitor list be available? A. Tuesday 16 August on Noosa Heads SLSC website. Follow Surf Sports - Carnival Information - Noosa Ocean Classic Competitors list. Q. What if I have entered in the wrong event and you want to change? A. You are to notify NHSLSC Carnival Administrator, Anna Widdicombe before 10am Thursday 18 August - Any changes after 10am Thursday 18 August will incur a late entry fee. No changes will be accepted after 7.30am on Race Day. Q. Can I enter in two age groups? A. Yes - you must be nominated for both. If you have not returned in time for the scheduled start time the starter will not wait. Q. Can I enter for both board and ski? A. Yes Q. If I enter in multiple events do I pay per event? A. No - Entry fee is per person not per event ( Dash for Cash not included). Q. If I enter for event and then do not attend am I entitled to a refund? A. No refunds will be issued once entered. Q. If I receive a gift/prize at the event is it mine to keep. A. The gift / prize will be issued to you - it is up to your club on what the conditions are for club members receiving prizes. Q. What is the Dash for Cash and can anyone enter and what craft can be used? A. Only competitors who have entered one of the Noosa Ocean Classic U15 to Master events can participate. Dash for Cash craft must be SLSA approved craft. Dash for cash has four categories - Open Male and Female Malibu Board / Open Male and Female Surf Ski (see Dash for Cash course layout). Dash for Cash will cost $10 to enter, payable in cash when marshalled. Q. What are the prizes? A. Confirmation of random and placing prizes will be placed on notice board on race day however at this stage the value is expected to be over $10,000 : Hayden donated: Surf Ski - Random draw for all ski and ocean paddlers Xcel donated : Malibu Board - Random draw for all board paddlers U13 to Masters Xcel donated : Nipper Board - Random draw for all U11 to U12 Epic donated : Paddles x 2 - Random draw for all ski and ocean ski paddlers Endura donated : Gift Packs x 4 - U19 to Masters $$CASH $$ Page 2 of 6

Competitors will be briefed on course when marshalled. White board will be used. Marshall will call competitors in their respective age groups to the line, not by name. Competitors will then be registered on the line. Competitors will be required to have displayed in a visible colour on left side of arm or leg; their age group and event, competitors will not be permitted to start without these markings (it your responsibility to have a marker pen - don't rely on someone else). Competitors are required to give their name and show race officials on the starting line these details when called. Race officials will mark competitor of against nomination sheet. Once a competitor crosses the finish line follow the direction of officials. Do not leave the area until your name has been recorded. Prize money will be available for collection from Carnival Administrator 10 minutes after the last event concludes on race day, with the exception for Dash for Cash that will be instant. Prize money for events will not be determined until race day - not all events will have prize money for top three placing - some may have random draws for combined age groups and gender (see notice board on race day). Random Prize draw will occur 20 minutes after the last event concludes - the competitor must be present to receive prize (if prize has not been claimed after 3 minutes, redraw will be announced and take place - this will continue until prize has been won - prize winners will be permitted to following draws). Craft storage area's will be available in designated area's on the beach (refer site map). Tents are permitted on the beach (refer to site map). Surf Ski / Ocean Ski competitors will be required to supply a handler to take control of craft on the finish line. Please advise handlers to place craft in storage areas. Surf Ski / Ocean Ski competitors are required to cross the finish line with paddle in hand. Subject to conditions, the course and start times may vary - update will be available no later than 8am on race day (see notice board). Prizes will be announced on Race Day (see notice board). Equipment can be dropped off using car park next to club (see site map ) please be courteous to public users and do not leave car or trailer unattended. Long term parking can be located across the road (see site map). BBQ and drinks available 10am - 1pm on grass area beach side of club. 6 PRESENTATIONS Approximately 10 mins after all events are completed. EVENT/DISTANCE IDENTIFICATION To assist officials, with correct starting times and procedures, along with assisting finish judges with correct placing at the end of each event, all competing athletes are requested to clearly mark their left arm and leg, with the age group, discipline and distance they are racing in. e.g. - OSS12 (open surf ski 12km) or OOS12 (open ocean ski 12km) or 17SS6 (U17 surf ski 6km) or 35OB6 (35-39 years ocean board 6km) or 55MB4 (55+ years Malibu board 4km) or 12B2 (U12 board 2km). By doing this it will assist officials in checking names off at the start and finish of races in a more efficient manner. CRAFT HANDLERS To assist in a clear finish area on the beach we ask that athletes arrange for one (1) only craft handler to collect skis at water's edge. Ski paddlers are asked to carry their paddles across the line only. All board paddlers will cross the line with their board as per a normal board race finish. EVENT WATER SAFETY and OFFICIALS Any clubs attending that can offer assistance in these areas would be greatly appreciated also please contact Water Safety Coordinator. CANCELLATION POLICY The following Cancellation Fee & Refund Policy will be adhered to: o If a carnival is cancelled, with no postponement before the first event is conducted, 75% of all entry fees will be refunded to all clubs (25% retained for administration costs). o If a carnival is cancelled, after the first event is conducted, no refund will be given. o If a carnival is postponed and rescheduled to another date, a 75% refund will be issued to competing clubs that cannot compete at the rescheduled event. COMPETITION CONDITIONS In general form - The SLSA 33 rd Edition Surf Sports competition manual will apply for this event. COMPETITION UNIFORMS Athletes are not required to wear club competition caps during this event. However, it is strongly recommended that a cap to protect from the sun along with a long sleeve rash shirt be given consideration to being worn. Sunscreen is also highly recommended for application to the body, prior to competition. HYDRATION It is strongly recommended that all competing athletes ensure that they are well hydrated leading into this event. DRUG USE Surf Life Saving Queensland affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia supports the Australian Government, the Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Olympic Committee, and the Australian Sports Drug Agency in their efforts to eradicate the use of drugs in sport. SLSA has published an Anti Doping Policy which condemns the use of performance enhancing drugs and doping practices in sport. Any event conducted by SLSA or its affiliated State bodies or clubs, is subject to random drug testing, without prior notice. The very strict procedures laid down for the testing for drugs will be observed, and competitors refusing to submit to a drug test will be subject to prescribed penalties. Should Team Managers or athletes require further information please refer to SLSA s Anti Doping Policy and as appropriate contact the Drugs in Sport hotline on MISCONDUCT Misconduct before, during and after the event will not be tolerated. Offending members/competing athletes risk disciplinary action against themselves and/or their clubs. Competitors and/or clubs found tampering with signs, fencing or PA system cabling and equipment also risk disciplinary action against themselves. Consumption of alcohol is not permitted by any persons on any part of the beach or under club tents.
