Yes it is TIME to start thinking about snowmobiling!!! I hope everyone has had as great of a summer as I did. (Maybe you saw the picture of our new bike on the web site) This year has all of the makings to be very exciting. Your newly elected board has been working hard all summer long. We have come up with some new ideas and new ways to hopefully make this best snowmobile season ever (if the snow gods smile upon us). As you may have already read in your dues statement, we are planning a great dinner before the first meeting (Sept 4) made by the one and only fry guy Travis, with some help from a few good friends. We are also planning on having a slide show/video of what happened with the club members from last winter and over the summer. If you have any digital pictures, of you, family members, or friends please summit to Brian Gabaldon via so he can put together the show. It should be FUN!! and maybe even a little embarrassing. The board is encouraging every member to sign up early to get in the raffle for the Weber Baby Q BBQ, and some great hand made gifts from Chuck Biegert. Brian Gabaldon is our Vice- President and newsletter editor and has some great ideas for the newsletter. It promises to be informative and fun to read with the help of the members sending in articles and pictures. We have a new Secretary and Webmaster Kim Greenwaldt. If you have had a chance to look at the web site lately you will find a new look. Kim is resetting the forums and if you are having trouble getting on the forum please resubmit your logon information. She is also setting up links to other club websites, magazine websites, weather reports, and this year daily grooming reports. I am pleased to announce that Jim Gulrich has accepted the grooming chairman position and with some help getting his feet wet (or snow on them) from previous grooming chairs, Jim will do an excellent job. He is recruiting new groomers. Please give him a call if you are interested. Lynette Bristow, the clubs Treasurer and Board Members Gene Bowling, Dennis Hamlin, Scott Blower, Chuck Biegert, Paul Hildebrand are working on everything from the grooming contract with the Forest Service, club rides, Candlelighters, Mt. Bailey $3000, and a great play day at the end of the season. Board member Dave Elder has once again promised to continue riding the mountains in hope of finding the perfect hill for everyone. Everyone s effort is greatly appreciated. I would like to encourage every member to attend the meetings and club events; it should be an excellent year. Everyone PLEASE shine up your snow dance shoes, cause snow dance season is just around the corner. THINK SNOW!!!! Dennis Jordan

Do you feel confident that you can name this mountain? If you can name that mountain, then you know more than our current president Dennis Jordan and past president Dave Elder. If you are at our first club meeting, be sure to ask them what mountain they think it is, then talk to Paul Hildebrand to get the correct answer. First Club Meeting Page 2 Hey Everyone!! You don t want to miss the first meeting of the year, Tuesday, September 4th at D&S Harley in Phoenix. Come at 6:00pm for a complimentary dinner(donations accepted) Shoji s style prepared for us by our French Fry Guy. Travis is planning to serve steak and chicken with fried rice or fried veggies. We will have plenty of food for all, so please come and join the fun. at 7:00pm, and if you have paid you annual dues by this time, you will be eligible for some great prizes. Some of the prizes include a Weber Q BBQ, a 9 bottle wine rack, an oak and black cutting board and other gifts created by a local craftsman and club member, Chuck Biegert. We will also have other surprise gifts, so please come and make sure to pay your dues by the first club meeting. The first meeting of the year will start Brian Gabaldon and Scott Blower are planning a slideshow with pictures of what club members have been doing to keep busy and have fun all summer. What a great way to kick off the season by catching up with fellow members/ friends. The board members have been busy this summer coming up with fresh ideas to make this club the best yet. 3 VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 Page 3 Deep Snow Tracks By the time you read this summer will be drawing to a close and we will all be looking forward to those first snowflakes. Summer is always busy with barbecues, 4 th of July, family reunions and such. Many of us are busy on projects of one kind or the other. I was over at Dave Hoxie s the other day and found him busy building a hot rod from the ground up. When I walked in he was holding a connecting rod in one hand and a piston in the other, with a very perplexed look on his face. This project may take some time. DJ has a new motorcycle which he is trying to learn how to ride, the other day he forgot how to turn and ended up in the ditch!! Well we put his training wheels back on for a couple more weeks. JM also has a new motorcycle and is putting a lot of miles on. He rides the bike just like his snowmobile, fast and never looks back! MM, Jim's significant other also has a new bike and will soon have her endorsement, which qualifies her as an official biker babe!! DP has been very busy this summer and has a new girlfriend, very time consuming. GL has a new Harley and is also building a hot rod along with a rock wall behind the house. Mrs. L bought the Harley as a present and may now be having second thoughts! B&I Reagan have a new grand baby, congratulations. GP has his rat rod on the road, pretty cool! D Plank is now a motor home owner and mechanic at the same time. Rumor has 4 new Ski-doos going to the P and B s in Prospect. Old time club member B Turley has moved clear to Texas, took 3 weeks to get there as truck broke down many times. LJ is feeling much better; she can sit now and is planning to do some serious riding this year. KM is preggers with twin boys, this should be interesting. CE is very excited about that. LC is pulling what hair he has left out as he tries to get the southern Oregon snowcats ready for the snow, good luck Lee! SH has a new sled and is anxious to put miles on!! MU has had some trouble staying upright on his motorcycle but with extensive tutoring from his friends he is doing much better. NP is recovering quite nicely after having a near death experience (literally) at a local hospital. He has a very cool bright yellow chopper which has been sighted near Touville. CM got a new (to him) jet ski which unfortunately died 15 minutes after takeoff, last sighted swimming for shore. GP is pretty excited about the new 800 Polecat, (Polaris took the best of Polaris, the headlight bulb and finished the remainder with AC parts to make this new sled), should be good one. I got this info from a very reliable source that shall remain nameless. PH has been busy all summer tuning on his classic go slow sled in an attempt to prepare for his impending defeat by the infamous DE. Shiela H has advised PH he needs to accept defeat gracefully. LK has a bright red C90 cruiser which has proved to be quite a challenge as his inability to stay upright even with a track and two skis is well documented. KK is a little apprehensive to saddle up behind him due to his dubious abilities in this area. O.T.C Annual Winter Banquet Make your plans now (and your reservations) to attend our annual Winter Banquet Saturday December 8, 2007 at Diamond Lake Resort. If you call Diamond Lake for reservations, let them know you re from the Rogue Snowmobilers to receive our discount. So get your reservations in early for the best rooms. 7 VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 Page 7 Technology: Who Needs It?? Our club has had a great website for several years. The problem: no one to update and maintain it so it became old and stagnant. I am here to tell you this problem has been resolved. We have a new webmaster who will be updating the site on a weekly basis during the season and regularly in between. Be sure to check it out at to see what s new. There will be a grooming report to let you know where the groomers have been, weather information, schedule of events so you can keep up with what it happening, links to other sites related to snowmobiling and much, much more. And you can help keep the website a vibrant and exciting place to visit. You can participate in the forum discussions, the webmaster pictures you took at club events so we can share them with others on the gallery page, or let us know of links that you found that could be added to the links page that other might like or find helpful. You can this to webmaster@roguesnowmobilers.com Another great idea we are going to implement this year is ed reminders about club events and meetings. If you want to be sent reminders, just check the yes box on your dues statement and provide us with the address and you will never miss out on another great club event again!! New Family Rides Added to the Schedule Looking at the past, some of the most memorable rides were those family rides. As a result, we have added these family rides back to the ride schedule. If you look at the ride schedule you will find that there are three no host family rides this season. The first of these rides will not be until February, but start planning now as you will not want to miss it. We will start at Fish Lake and make a loop out and around the southern Cascades seeing the spectacular sights. Later in March, we will meet at the Claude Lewis Shelter. From here we will make a ride out through Fish Creek area and on into Diamond Lake, have lunch and return back to the parking lot via Lake West. Last, we will be at 1000 Springs. Here we will make a tour around the mountain finding all the fun play areas. These rides are designed to ride in organized groups and share great spectacular times with our fellow club members. We want to see everyone from young kids to the more experienced adults attend these rides as this is a family sport. These rides will be limited groomed trails and the gentle boon docks as we want riders of all levels to participate and enjoy the day. It will also be a chance to enhance your riding skills while just playing and having fun. So mark the calendar, make your plans, watch for more information, and we will see you there.
