4 IRB drivers course is currently underway with 6 trainees New ATV is operational, induction process is ongoing. A small number of complaints have been made with regards to the restriction in drivers. It is also clear that some patrols are more compliant than others when it comes to applying this restriction Phil (lifeguard) nicely set up board fin always forward fits nicely. Old ATV has been sold, neither purchaser was willing to go over $1000 so sold to a member for $1000 Registration for old ATV has been cancelled. Radio will be removed and returned to club. Chief Instructor's Report 62 bronze candidates passed this season Includes 14 young ladies from Loreto 6 in progress (wet assessment on Saturday 11th April) 43 SRC candidates passed this season 1 in progress (assessment on Saturday 11th April) 17 bronze candidates for next group in October ARTC candidates passed this season 17 ARTC candidates passed this season 2 four manikin Little Annie bags have arrived Having contacted owners any uncollected personal resuscitation masks in training cupboard will be disposed of at end of season. Final uniform presentation will be held after the Nantucket Shield lunch (at 2 pm) Items to be discussed and/or approved at the next meeting Need new water safety gear, rash vests and caps before next season. Would like someone from the Academy (perhaps Glen) to address each bronze group about the competition options available Would like to present the trainers with a gift for their time and effort this year thinking a CPR towel ($40 each). There are 10 bronze trainers + IRB trainers (allow 15 towels, numbers to be confirmed as we had a number of trainers who helped out once or twice only). Publicity Officer s Report We are now up to e-newsletter 125 and the online publication continues to provide timely club news to members. Sandy Menzies who formats all my words/pictures for the weekly e-newsletter has created a new style making it easier to read and absorb. Sandy has done a great job with the new layout and is be congratulated. As the new style e-newsletter has received a number of accolades I am proposing that we now discontinue the printed newsletters. This will save the club the cost of layout, printing and distribution of about three newsletters per year but members will still be well informed via e- Newsletter. It will be important that I am advised of events, training, achievements, results etc. for the newsletter. Assistance has also been given to Tom Kellaway for the Palm2Palms bike ride publicity. Planning meetings for the Pool to Peak swims will be delayed until after the Australian Championships. However the swims date has been set for Sunday 3 January The approval process is still underway. There is a picture book for the Pittwater Ocean Swim Series being put together. I have ordered two of these books at a cost of around $30. The intention is to present one of the books to Harris Farm Markets our long standing and valued P2P Sponsors. April Minutes 2015 Page 4
5 There was talk about doing away with the printed newsletter for discussion at next meeting is there a constitutional need that we send out a hard copy a couple of times a year Bev/Sandy to look at vs hardcopy. General Business: Glen Borg (apology) wanted to know if the club is planning a function for officials? Someone thought the club was organising something. they think so they would expect so, need to confirm date people invited First Aid, Water Safety, Carnival Officials etc. Aussies this weekend e-newsletter advertise water equipment that needs to be sold, eg skis Craig MacDougal Rubber on Floor still a little bit more to go but nearly there. Mike Rosic sent stats 62 Bronze, 39 SRC + 1, 14 ARTC trainers - present approval for that Yes. Safety Rash Vest and caps ordering 15 or 20 and getting half cotton and half stretch cloth Awards Night Rob Barkley Nominations for awards night on 30 May 2015 when is the cut off due? In previous years in February/March an is sent asking committee for nominations. What awards are for AGM vs Gala Evening. Bev to query branch about the plaque that was sent with error (best country club). Meeting closed: 8.25pm Our next meeting will be held Wednesday 13 th May, April Minutes 2015 Page 5
