SANCTION: Provided by Swimming Ontario, all current Swimming Canada and FINA rules apply. The only meet package considered valid will be the most current version found on ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY: THIS IS AN OPEN INVITATIONAL MEET. All athletes must be registered with a FINA affiliated aquatic organization. All International Athletes must be registered with their National governing body. All International teams must provide a Team Manager Athlete Roster as proof of registration. Entries must reflect athletes ages as of the first day of competition. Meet Management reserves the right to delete a swimmer (Canada only) from an entry or results file for incorrect or absent 9 digit ID numbers and/or date of birth. Foreign teams need to submit the attached Proof of Residence and Registration Status with their entries. COACH ELIGIBILITY: All coaches must be registered with a recognized coaching association (CSCA, ASCA) and will be required to provide proof of accreditation at registration. Coaches shall submit clearly marked alternate entries for swimmers entered in distance events Meet management reserves the right to alternate genders and/or swim 2 per lane. FINALS: Finals will be swum according to gender and age category (Girls/Boys and OPEN) Consolation finals (B finals) will be held only for those events with 20 or more swimmers entered in any age category at the entry deadline. Events with Preliminaries and Finals will be swum during the Finals session as Finals only if there are 8 or less swimmers entered in any age category at the entry deadline. 5/25/2016 7:46 AM Page 3

4 RELAYS: Relays will be swum as timed finals. 13 and over heats will be swum during the finals session Relay forms with the names and order of the swimmers must be submitted to the clerk of course prior to the start of warm-ups for the afternoon session of the day in which the relay will be swum. Mixed gender teams will be exhibition only. TRAINING TIMES: The Canada Games Complex may be available for training times. Please contact the Canada Games Complex ( ) to request training times. Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file. Entries will be accepted on a first come basis. All Distance Events will be limited to 40 fastest ATHLETES FOR 400/800 AND 32 ATHLETES FOR 1500 Should the meet be over-subscribed, the team with the 400 th swimmer will have all their entries accepted. No entries received after that will be considered. ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Swimmers will be limited to 9 individual events over the course of the competition. Teams may enter any number of relays in the appropriate events. Deck entries will be accepted only where empty lanes are available. No new heats will be created. All Deck entries will be swum EXHIBITION and will be not eligible for points or awards. No Times (NT) will not be accepted for any of the distance events (400 FR, 400IM, 800FR & 1500FR) All swimmers entries should be submitted with times/their true and current Long Course best times or converted Short Course best times based on a 1.5% conversion rate in HyTek. No other person will be permitted on deck unless expressly authorized by the Meet Manager or Meet Referee. Deck passes and technical packages will be handed out at registration Meet entry fees are due upon registration. Cheques or Money Orders must be made payable to Thunder Bay Thunderbolts Swim Club Exchange rates can be confirmed by contacting SCRATCHES: PRELIMS & TIMED FINAL EVENTS Please report all scratches to the Clerk of Course 30 minutes before the start of preliminary and or timed finals sessions. Scratches from heats of distance events scheduled to be swum during evening finals must be made prior to the start of the morning session. This allows for full heats during evening sessions. Distance events will be reseeded if necessary. Positive check is required for all distance events 15 min prior to the start of the event. All scratches must be submitted on official scratch cards available from the clerk of course. Heats may be combined at the discretion of the referee. FINALS The scratch deadline for Finals will be 30 minutes before the start of the final session. Scratches from heats of distance events scheduled to be swum during evening finals must be made prior to the start of the morning session. This allows for full heats during evening sessions. SCRATCH PENALTY Scratches made after the scratch deadline and all step-downs, no-shows and unexcused incomplete swims, as determined by the referee, will result in the offending swimmer being scratched from all remaining events, including relays, scheduled for that day and a $50.00 fine to the offending club. 5/25/2016 7:46 AM Page 5

6 There will be no re-seeds and no fee refunds for scratches. OFFICIAL SPLITS: Meet management requires that any coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by the swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event shall so advise the Referee prior to the commencement of the session in question. 7 COMPETITION SUIT RULES IN EFFECT: In swimming competitions the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like armbands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit. Swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below knee. All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials. Swimsuit Surface covered: Men swimsuit shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. Women swimsuit shall not cover the neck or extend past the shoulders, nor shall extend below the knee. Composition/other items: Men s swimsuits are in one piece. Subject to decency rule and observance of limitation in surface covered, Women swimsuits may be in one or two pieces. Other items covering the body and not part of the swimsuit are prohibited. MATERIAL: The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of textile currently is: Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and nonconsolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding. CONSISTENCY: Swimwear effectively manufactured and used shall correspond to and be fully consistent with FINA approved samples. Any modification before use (including impregnation) is prohibited. Moreover, there shall be no variation/modification for individual swimmers. RISK MANAGEMENT / WARM-UP PROCEDURES "Swimming Canada WARM UP PROCEDURES (November 25, 2014, Attached) WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET". These will be posted on the walls of the pool deck during the competition. Meet officials will provide a safe environment and organized competition. 13 November 25, 2014 SWIMMING CANADA COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competition must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures during all scheduled warm-up periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals. GENERAL WARM-UP: Swimmers must enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a start or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position. Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool tank are prohibited. Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warm-up time. Any such lane usage must be communicated either in pre-competition handout, announcement or deck signage. Diving starts shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes. Only one-way swimming from the start end of sprint lanes is permitted. Notices or barriers must be placed on starting blocks to indicate no diving during warm-up. EQUIPMENT: VIOLATIONS: Kick Boards, Pull-Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the scheduled warm-up time. Meet Management may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the warm-up only. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use. Hand paddles, drag chutes, and flippers / fins are not permitted during any warm-up at any time. Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion will be removed without warning from their first event following the warm-up period in which the violation occurred. In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer will be removed from the competition in its entirety. A provincial disciplinary action or report may be filed. SAFETY MARSHALS: The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall: Be visible by safety vest Be situated at each end of the competition tank and when applicable, similarly situated in designated warm-up tanks when pre-competition warm-ups are scheduled. Actively monitor all scheduled warm-up periods. Ensure participants comply with warm-up safety procedures and report violations to the Referee. PARA-SWIMMER NOTIFICATION: Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-swimmers participating in warm-ups where necessary and at the coach s discretion.
