18. Are there any types of new or additional INDOOR FACILITIES or OUTDOOR SPACES that you would like to see in order to increase the likelihood that you would participate in recreation and cultural activities? * indicates that a comment relates to more than one area. All comments are verbatim. Aquatics! More pool space, ball diamond space and ice space*! additional fitness centre options and pools*! more pool facilities, larger outdoor water park areas, spray parks*! more swimming lessons and green spaces*! 50 meter swimming pool! indoor pool, large spray park*! Ardrossan pool! swimming areas! Another aquatic centre for additional space for indoor swimming lessons. There is too much stress on the system (and on the building) to only have one urban option at Kinsmen. Programs are difficult to get into and space is so limited at KLC. Only one building will not support the amount of growth the community has seen and will continue to see; the way it is growing.! I would like to see another pool available for swimming lessons, Kinsmen Leisure Center is WAY too crowded and it's very hard to get a preschool child into swimming lessons.! Another swimming pool and more spray parks*! another swimmimg pool or add on to kinsmen for lessons! Warmer swimming pools! A bigger pool to accomodate the demand for pool times.! swimming areas for lap swimming! More kiddie pool availability - Kinsmen has limited hours, and MP wave pool makes it difficult for water play with toddlers. Suggestion would be a seperate kiddie pool at MP...$$$! swimming pool but I think that is in the works! Outdoor pool, more evening programs for children- especially music or the arts. Programs for children of working parents, please!*! Additional swimming pool - perhaps out in a rural location such as Ardrossan! more outdoor rinks, more preschool activitis, another pool*! another pool to accomodate more swimming lessons.! Move/replace swimming lessons location.! More available swimming. Both public and organized.! Lane pool that is just for swimming lanes; basketball courts (both indoor and out); painting studios to rent*

! Another swimming pool; a covered soccer field like the ones in Edmn that could be used year-round*! 50m pool, better indoor park at Ardrossan, new indoor park at millennium place, *! outdoor pool! More swimming pools.! I would hope someday that a larger gymnastics facility was made available. A notprofit club can't do it by themselves. They do a great job with the small space they have. The new Parkour program is great and a larger space would help attract more young boys to those type of extreme sports. Need another pool and dive tower. Rodeo grounds. It would be great to have our own summer rodeo/fair.*! Swimming pool in Ardrossan!! Another pool! continued development of wellness/fitness centres, swimming pools, wood chip/soft surface trails in Sherwood Park in loop*! A 50 meter pool for competitive swimming, an Equine riding arena.*! Pool at Ardrossan Rec Centre? Depending on cost! Another indoor pool would be useful.! I would like to see a pool in Ardrossan! Another swimming facility because it is hard to get space for swimming lessons.! More swimming places, Millennium Place seem to be very busy.! Increase space availability for swimming lessons.! Another swimming pool.! It would be nice if the Ardrossan Rec centre would get a swimming pool at some time.! Swimming pool in Ardrossan at new Rec centre.! A bigger indoor pool, an outdoor pool.! Want pool in Ardrossan.! Swimming pool in Ardrossan with family change room.! Olympic Sized Swimming Pool.! County racetrack would be a good idea since there are so many hot-rodders in county - it would get them off the roads/more development in the science park/maybe biathlon plans could those started up again/50m pool in Millennium Place.*! Swimming pool facilities at the Rec center in Ardrossan.! Outdoor pool - regular size.! A swimming pool in Ardrossan would ne nice! Pool in Andresen! Just an indoor pool in Ardrossan.! Not so much myself but I support more indoor hockey facilities. The ones we have are always so jammed up and teams have trouble finding where to play. We don't have a good indoor water park. Millennium has it but that's long ways.*! Swimming pool in Southeast part of County! Needs to be another swimming pool in county as recreational swim and swimming classes are very busy.! A 50 meter pool.

! Another swimming pool/as they have one pool the Broadmoor pool and they need more space for more swimming lessons.! We need a competition sized swimming pool and more than 1 place for swimming lessons. Need more recreational facilities to accommodate the growing population.! There is a lot there but for people who are retiring the costs should be lower even if it means the groups are larger. I wouldn't mind a closer swimming pool.! Size increased of the swimming pool and up dated.! A new indoor pool for swimming lessons.! Indoor waterslide addition to pool/indoor baseball facility.*! Aquatic centre at Ardrossan.! Have a new indoor facility that could be mixed use, but definitely have an aquatic space! Swimming pool in Ardrossan.! Kinsman swimming pool has a slide in it, in Calgary their leisure center had a 4 story slide which was awesome, it is great to have that in one of our facilities, and I think it was called the Coca Cola run.! Outdoor pool, more evening programs for children- especially music or the arts. Programs for children of working parents, please! Indoor ice/arenas! More pool space, ball diamond space and ice space*! I feel Strathcona need more ice surface! More Ice Rinks, will help more people to participate! more sheets of ice indoors; more soccer ptiches indoors*! I would like to see more FULL SIZE hockey arenas. Ice is way too scarce around Sherwood Park and residents of SPMHA and SPKAC should not have to book ice in Edmonton, Lamont, Gibbons or Leduc just so we can get some ice times. Leduc is doing a fantastic job with their Leduc Recreation Center, perhaps Strathcona County should look into getting another major facility with multiple arenas and other open spaces for fitness. Millenium place is much too full and does not offer enough ice times.! More arenas so young children don't have to practice so late or so early.! Please upgrade the Sherwood Park Arena. It is the main arena for competitve hockey and our junior hockey team. The facility is old and does not meet the needs of these organizations.! Ice Arenas! More off leash parks throughout SP. Closer, more readily accessible parks means more participation. More hockey arenas. We have never used the ones in Strathcona county - and that is not by choice. The centre area that is being developed should have more recreation and cultural draws so that people are drawn in to the area and it functions as a town centre.*! Hockey arenas! we need more indoor hockey rinks! Again we need more indoor ice surfaces. Our programs suffer greatly as quality ice time is limited and the amount of ice time received is below national standards.

Aside from Mill. Place and Broadmoor the facilities are outdated and in poor condition.! We are a hockey household. The number of available facilities for youth hockey is significantly lacking. Kids that play hockey in Strathcona (specifically Sherwood Park) are at a distinct disadvantage compared to kids in other communities with respect to ice facilities for youth hockey. We are constantly having to share ice with other teams (my kids also play soccer and have never had to share their practice facilities with another team). We need more indoor rinks for hockey not more parking lots, libraries and cultural centres.! More indoor ice arenas!! skating rinks indoor! more ice skating rinks for hockey!! More ice rinks to support the increasing demand of hockey participation.! hockey rinks! More ice! better spray parks, more skating rinks *! Indoor Ice Arenas! Trails down RR 233 so my kids could safely get from home to activities. Ice in ardrossan open!*! Ice! Sherwood park is in need of more hockey arenas! skating rinks that arent occupied by kids playing hockey but are strictly for pleasure skating! Not so much myself but I support more indoor hockey facilities. The ones we have are always so jammed up and teams have trouble finding where to play. We don't have a good indoor water park. Millennium has it but that's long ways.*! Skating rinks! Indoor skating rink! More outdoor ice rinks! Any space could use soccer, curling or ice rinks.*! The skating rink and more outdoor activities for children in rural areas so we do not have to drive to Sherwood Park.! More indoor ice surfaces for hockey.! New hockey arena.! We could have a bigger arena (doesn't have a lot of seats). Also festival place is a bit small. Not many seats so it sells out very quickly.! Additional ice surface in door.! More indoor hockey rinks in the south side.! More hockey rinks and soccer fields.*! Maybe a couple more ice sheets not only for hockey. I work out at Millennium and there's Ringette played and more ice sheets would be good in the next 5 years.! More indoor ice.! Indoor hockey rinks spray deck/water Park and additional squash or racquet courts.*! Ardrossan - new or upgrade in hockey rink, more pedestrian walking trails.*.

Outdoor rinks / ice! outdoor covered hockey rinks (Quonset), practice facilities for junior baseball (batting cage and pitching machines that are open to the general public)*! boards on outdoor rink at Uncas! Build a rink in Florian Park! An outdoor rink is badly needed in davidson creek! Heated changing space for the outdoor rinks.! Outdoor rinks lights on as soon as the ice is frozen on them.! More trails, more ice/hockey rinks, both indoor and outdoor. There seem to be a lot of really big green spaces that are used for nothing. They could expand Millennium Place.*! I would love to see more outdoor skating rinks in smaller hamlets and communities outside of Sherwood Park - specifically South Cooking Lake.! Not for me but they should have more skating rinks for families that cannot afford to go to places such as Festival Place, Millennium Place, etc.! outdoor skating rinks! Updated spray parks and outdoor rinks*! more outdoor rinks, more preschool activitis, another pool* Wellness! additional fitness centre options and pools*! Another community fitness centre! Larger facilities so that there is not such a waiting time to use machines! GARC fitness room! continued development of wellness/fitness centres, swimming pools, wood chip/soft surface trails in Sherwood Park in loop*! They could build more exercise areas that are not crowded and expensive, gyms/wellness centres.! Just the workout park or a gymnasium for training. Group Fitness! I would like to see more rooms available for stretching for exercise programs that I m involved with. Preschool! more outdoor rinks, more preschool activitis, another pool* Indoor sports/gymnasium! A gymnasium at ARC! Lane pool that is just for swimming lanes; basketball courts (both indoor and out); painting studios to rent*! Gym at the Ardrossan Rec. Centre! indoor basketball courts

! more parks in neighborhoods, spray decks, rental gyms for floor hockey*! Indoor tennis courts, trails/walking paths in newer areas, outdoor ADULT "jungle gym"? somewhere adults can exercise with a obstacle type workout *! New walking trial into Sherwood Park, an indoor badminton court.*! There need to be more options for gymnasium spaces for activities such as basketball.! We need more indoor tennis facilities in Strathcona County! Build a baseball indoor facility! Indoor tennis courts.! Gymnasiums for badminton.! Live near Cooking Lake but have nowhere to play badminton! Sportsfields (indoor & outdoor)! More pool space, ball diamond space and ice space*! more sheets of ice indoors; more soccer ptiches indoors*! Have Centennial Park become competitive baseball diamonds with Sherwood Park Minor Baseball! Turf field! Turf soccer field, more indoor fields! Turf Field! Another swimming pool; a covered soccer field like the ones in Edmn that could be used year-round*! an outdoor ampetheatre? More indoor soccer space that can be available to other groups*! An artificial turf soccer field would allow us to play more games & have practises here instead of having to go to Edmonton or St. Albert or Spruce Grove! Indoor soccer centre! Turf field please - it would increase seasonal use duration and safety of participants! an astroturf football field! We'd like to see SHPK have a Turf field.! Indoor waterslide addition to pool/indoor baseball facility.*! Any space could use soccer, curling or ice rinks.*! More trails, more ice/hockey rinks, both indoor and outdoor. There seem to be a lot of really big green spaces that are used for nothing. They could expand Millennium Place.*! More hockey rinks and soccer fields.*! Refurbish existing outdoor football facility, put in artificial turf.! Indoor soccer - full size.! Think that there is need for turf field for soccer players.! Would like to see indoor soccer facility at Ardrossan.! Artificial turf fields - we are in need of multiple fields! More slo-pitch senior s fields/facilities needed.! They could use more indoor facilities but there is cost involved. My grandchildren play indoor soccer and that facility seems quite full.! Think they do a pretty good job/ synthetic turf for field sports i.e. football.

! More indoor soccer pitches! Designate a indoor Lacrosse field Outdoor sports! Lane pool that is just for swimming lanes; basketball courts (both indoor and out); painting studios to rent*! Disk Golf! Need a better basketball court in Ardrossaan! outdoor covered hockey rinks (Quonset), practice facilities for junior baseball (batting cage and pitching machines that are open to the general public)*! County racetrack would be a good idea since there are so many hot-rodders in county - it would get them off the roads/more development in the science park/maybe biathlon plans could those started up again/50m pool in Millennium Place.*! Other golf course for beginners, 9 holes apposed to 18.! A dirt-bike Park.! More golf courses.! Cloverbar Ranch Tennis Court; groomed X-country ski trails on bike trails in winter.*! A better golf course.! An outdoor spray park and skate park at Ardrossan would be great. It's too bad the original plan for the skate park was put on the back burner. *! A BMX and skateboard park in Ardrossan. Agri-recreation! We need a seniors recreation centre in the County or at the very least a centre which could focus on Seniors recreational activities during daytime hours. Seniors need a place to recreate with their peers, socialize and network in a modern and upto-date facility with a broad range of recreational and fitness activities. We also need improved equestrian facilities for training, showing and riding and better linkages from rural subdivisions to the Blackfoot. *! A 50 meter pool for competitive swimming, an Equine riding arena.*! Horse arena.! Maybe a little more for horse back riding area space that you don't have to rent from a person.! public indoor riding arena Trails! A place to safely ride my road bike

! more walking areas with no uneven sidewalks! a permenant bike path into Strathcona Science Park that does note go through the tunnel on Petrolium Way or a dedicated lane in the tunnel for bikes. I am surprised that no one has been killed in this tunnel! climbing wall, bike path linkages to Edmonton river valley from urban areas (safety issues with traffic connecting Edmonton to Sherwood Park)*! more running trails, basketball nets*! Indoor tennis courts, trails/walking paths in newer areas, outdoor ADULT "jungle gym"? somewhere adults can exercise with a obstacle type workout *! continued development of wellness/fitness centres, swimming pools, wood chip/soft surface trails in Sherwood Park in loop*! Trails down RR 233 so my kids could safely get from home to activities. Ice in ardrossan open!*! more trails for rollerblading/skateboarding! More trails, more ice/hockey rinks, both indoor and outdoor. There seem to be a lot of really big green spaces that are used for nothing. They could expand Millennium Place.*! Running traills for all weather, presently some of the trials in Heritage Hills are submerged in water during rainy season! Bike trail that joins Strathcona County trails with City of Edmonton trails.! Walking and biking trails/new tennis courts.! New walking trial into Sherwood Park, an indoor badminton court.*! More nature trails. I know they have lots but I would like to see more.! More cross country ski trails.! Skidoo trails.! Ardrossan - new or upgrade in hockey rink, more pedestrian walking trails.*! Place benches along the paths so seniors can sit when they go for walks.! Walking trails.! Nice trail system around cooking lake.! More bike paths.! Cloverbar Ranch Tennis Court; groomed X-country ski trails on bike trails in winter.* Indoor Playgrounds! Though diffiicult it would be nice if the indoor facilities had swings since children love them but cannot use them in the winter time! More parking at Millenium. Another rec centre in Sherwood Park. Another indoor playground.*! 50m pool, better indoor park at Ardrossan, new indoor park at millennium place, *! Another mini gym like klc's! More drop-in indoor gym spaces for children 0-6 years.! In the wintertime, it is nice to have areas e.g. indoor playgrounds for toddlers (6 and under) as we have grandchildren and it would be good with these children.! Increased drop in preschool gym times at KLC. Perhaps drop in ball hockey in the raquet courts at GARC.

Outdoor playgrounds! Yes, a small pre-school playground in Mills Haven would be wonderful. A place within walking distance to take the smaller children during the day. Our only option now is on school property and unavailable during the school year. Spray parks/decks! outdoor spray park! more pool facilities, larger outdoor water park areas, spray parks*! more spray parks for older kids. like the one built in Fort Sask! indoor pool, large spray park*! Another swimming pool and more spray parks*! More spray decks like the new one at Cloverbar Ranch! Bigger spray park! Updated spray parks and outdoor rinks*! An outdoor spray park and skate park at Ardrossan would be great. It's too bad the original plan for the skate park was put on the back burner. *! More outdoor spash decks! outdoor spray park! more parks in neighborhoods, spray decks, rental gyms for floor hockey*! better spray parks, more skating rinks *! More spary park or enchace current ones! spray park / wading pool! More squash courts and more outdoor spray decks like clover bar ranch*! Indoor hockey rinks spray deck/water Park and additional squash or racquet courts.*! Only have one skateboard/bmx park - could use another. We could use another spray park. Could use a second Millennium Place - the teen area is wonderful.*! We go to Edmonton Spray Park (10) ours is a (2). We like the one off of Mills Creek Golf court has multi age facilities in immediate area.! Would like another spray park in Sherwood Park/only one in city. Need it for limited summers! More spray decks -larger even Fort Saskatchewan is way better.! A Spray Park.! A really nice BIG spray park. Racquet courts! More squash courts and more outdoor spray decks like clover bar ranch*! More squash courts! Less costly racket ball! more raquet courts! More racquet courts! Indoor hockey rinks spray deck/water Park and additional squash or racquet courts.*

! Racquet ball.! More racket court places. Open / outdoor spaces! more swimming lessons and green spaces*! More outdoor space, less building! more parks in neighborhoods, spray decks, rental gyms for floor hockey*! umbrellas and tables at playgrounds to be protected from the sun! Indoor tennis courts, trails/walking paths in newer areas, outdoor ADULT "jungle gym"? somewhere adults can exercise with a obstacle type workout *! adult type parks such as the new one in Nottingham with eliptical, bars, benches for body resistance exercises! Outdoor space! If their were little barbeque pits in parks in Sherwood park their would be more use of those/generally pretty good, I think the county does a good job/bike lanes in Sherwood park and throughout the county esp. to Edmonton and rural to Urban locals.! I'd like to see the county outdoors spaces preserved instead of developed. Culture! Facilities need to be available for groups to use; Festival place has trapezoid-shaped rooms, not square, which is not conducive to square dancing.! More areas like festival place/more multiuse areas.! Some place to do pottery! Safe and free graffiti zone for volunteer public art. Public easels in scenic spaces; attached to benches, maybe. More community dances.! Establish a multi purpose site like the Enjoy Centre in St. Albert. No more recreation centred, more cultural hubs. Create community halls!! Community gardens! more events in/around broadmoore lake and the other lake areas - HErtiage hills, etc! an outdoor ampetheatre? More indoor soccer space that can be available to other groups*! Outdoor pool, more evening programs for children- especially music or the arts. Programs for children of working parents, please!* Climbing wall! climbing wall, bike path linkages to Edmonton river valley from urban areas (safety issues with traffic connecting Edmonton to Sherwood Park)*! Climbing Wall, Indoor Roller Skating Facility! maybe a big indoor rock climbing place so we don't have to go into the city?! Rock climbing

Off Leash! More dog parks. It's quality exercise and helps in a healthy lifestyle. I am frustrated in the lack of resources for offleash parks given the resources spent in arenas and parks and playgrounds that are not used.! More dog walk parks! A second Dog Park would be nice for variety. New indoor facility! Only have one skateboard/bmx park - could use another. We could use another spray park. Could use a second Millennium Place - the teen area is wonderful.*! Need a Millennium Place or facility like it, in the south side of the county.! More fitness centre availability in the north east part of Sherwood Park as Millennium Place is reaching its maximum capacity which keeps some people away.! I would like to see at least one more additional indoor recreation centre in the county.! More is always better - more of all types of facilities.! Indoor Velodrome.! More facilities as population grows.! A workout recreation centre with aerobic classes and that type of thing. Not team activities just indoor individual physical activities.! A new facility similar to Ardrossan build on highway 21 and Wye Road just to take the pressure off Millennium Place.! Something on the south side of Sherwood Park - some kind of indoor facility similar to Millennium Place. Also, no center on south end for recycling.! A Velodrome in Strathcona County would be really good.! We need more new space to accommodate the growing population who need it.! *! More parking at Millenium. Another rec centre in Sherwood Park. Another indoor playground.* Expand / renovate existing facilities

! Larger capacity at Millennium Place.! I cannot say enough about refurbishing the fitness room at GARC. They moved it back for Ardrossan and now we are pushed back again for the pool. I am really, really not happy about that. GARC needs a larger fitness room & floor is too hard.! I would like them continue to keep all the existing Rec centres updated. There needs to be more local centres and local accessibility to the centres and trails rather than driving to Millennium for instance.! Expand Millennium Place (weight lifting area).! Expand Moyer to be more like Ardrossan. Many families go to Fort Saskatchewan and the county is loosing big time when it comes to this area not having access to facilities.! Improvements at Glen Allen, including size of facility, would satisfy the South East part of the Park! Like using GARC; find the staff & facility much friendlier and customer oriented than Millenium Place, so would like improvements made to the facility; especially for group fitness. Rural! More of any of the indoor and outdoor facilities in the outlying areas.! Yes, would like something in the southeast area here at cooking lake plus something for seniors like shuffle board or pool.*! More indoor facilities in the outlying/rural areas. Other! Create a network of rural cycling routes;! Quieter indoor walking track for winter! I would like to see combined children and adult facilities and program times. For example, why don't we have adult aquatic classes at the same time as Red Cross swimming? Or, a ring of treadmills/ellipticals around/above the swimming pool so parents can exercise and watch their children instead of sitting on the sidelines doing nothing. We lead busy lives so multi-tasking is important for parents to be able to fit their exercise time into their already busy schedule.! Senior Facilities - croquet or bowling lawns! Indoor dog walking! Be very careful with cost. Sometimes I think we have too much $ in the county! tai chi for seniors to improve balance! Another Bowling Alley! Clean up Broadmoor Lake and restock it with fish (like it used to have) - or stock some other lakes with fish! special outdoor events! Indoor botanical Garden/Greenhouse! I would hope someday that a larger gymnastics facility was made available. A notprofit club can't do it by themselves. They do a great job with the small space they have. The new Parkour program is great and a larger space would help attract more

young boys to those type of extreme sports. Need another pool and dive tower. Rodeo grounds. It would be great to have our own summer rodeo/fair.*! more running trails, basketball nets*! an organized group for biking or dog walking! I think that we have awesome facilities in the county - I would like to see them maintained and enhanced, rather than just expanding all over the place. Bigger (and grander) is not always better.! A close rifle range to Sherwood Park or Ardrossan.! Bigger wait rooms (female area).! Indoor paintball.! The only thing I every thought of is to have an indoor walking track where you could take your dog.! An area for single seniors to meet.! In new facilities ensure they are handicapped accessible for everything e.g. washrooms.! Need more parking in some places (e.g. Broadmoor Park).! The Uncas gymnasium utilizes it.! More curling rinks in the County
