1 Suburban Swim League Championships Saturday, August 2, 2014 Host: Chardon Sharks LOCATION 316 Maple Avenue, Chardon Lifeguard Office: Directions: (from I-90): Take 44 south to Chardon; 44 south becomes Center Street; Make a left onto Fifth Avenue (2 nd street light past State Highway Patrol); Left onto North Street; quick right onto Chardon Avenue; 1 st stop sign, make a left onto Maple Avenue; Volunteers will be there to direct parking. TIMES 1. 7:00 8:40 Warm-ups 2. 8:30 a.m. Official s Meeting on the pool deck 3. 8:40 a.m. Timer s Meeting on the pool deck 4. 8:50 a.m. Welcome/National Anthem 5. 9:00 a.m. Start of Meet PARKING Chardon High School Student Lot Chardon Middle School Lot Park Elementary Lot Chardon Board of Education Chalet Parking Lot St. Mary s Parking Lot (all cars must be gone by 4:15pm for evening Mass) NO PARKING IS PERMITTED ON ANY CHARDON STREET. This is a City ordinance. Anyone parking on a Chardon street, will be ticketed. Stopping to let individuals out on any street is prohibited. TEAM AREAS All teams will be assigned an area on the front lawn of Chardon High School. Bring tents, as the open field is not a shaded area. Tents/other items are permitted to be brought/set up the night before. However, the City of Chardon or Chardon Local Schools will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen items. Individuals are also not permitted to stay the night on Chardon High School front lawn. o The cut off time to bring items in is 9:00 p.m. Porte-lets will be placed on throughout the meet areas. Rubbish cans will be placed throughout team areas. Attached is an aerial map. The bathhouse does have limited space. It would be ideal for swimmers to come wearing their suits to the meet. Coach sitting areas will be on the grass area on the pool deck. ON-CALL BOARDS On-call boards will be used to notify swimmers and parents when to report to the clerk of course area and what event is currently swimming. Boards will be placed on the front lawn of the team sitting area. It will be the responsibility of the swimmer to arrive to the clerk of course in order to swim. 1

2 CLERK OF COURSE (COC) The Clerk of Course will be located at the basketball court. o The basketball court is located next to the skate park which is adjacent to the pool. Only swimmers, COC volunteers and coaches will be permitted in this area. COC volunteers will lead swimmers to the on-deck sitting area to swim. Swimmers are REQUIRED to wear footwear when walking from the COC to swimming pool. Buckets will be provided at each lane to keep shoes while the swimmer is not using their footwear. HEAT SHEETS Heat sheets will be sold at the designated table on the front lawn of Maple Elementary on Maple Avenue. Heat sheets will be sold for Saturday and Sunday s meet. VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN All volunteers are asked to check in at the designated table located on the front lawn of Maple Elementary on Maple Avenue. Volunteers will be provided a name tag with shift time and description. Please be prompt for all shifts. All teams must provide a phone number for a point of contact, should a volunteer not arrive for schedule position. For any volunteer that does not arrive, the team of the missing volunteer will be responsible for finding a replacement. AWARDS A volunteer from each team will be asked to pick up his/her team s awards at the awards table at the END of the meet. Each team will have a designated box and all awards will be labeled and placed in this bag. The awards table will be located on the front lawn of Maple Elementary on Maple Avenue. All awards will be signed for by the designated volunteer. Any awards not picked up will be given to the Wickliffe Team to be picked up on Sunday. CONCESSIONS Food and beverages will be available for purchase on the concession area located in front of the Chardon High School bus garage located on Maple Avenue. The hospitality area for Coaches, Officials, Scorers and other designated volunteers will be located at the baby pool area of the pool deck. SCORING/RESULTS Scoring will be conducted in the picnic area of the pool deck next to the starting blocks. Printed results will be posted on the fence to the right of the bleachers area. RESTROOMS There will be restrooms and changing areas in the pool house located next to the pool (for swimmers only). Additionally, there will be Porte-lets on Maple Avenue, the high school front lawn and COC. 2

3 SPECTATOR SEATING Bleachers will be set up on Maple Avenue overlooking the pool. No spectators will be allowed onto the pool deck, inside the fence. Bleachers will hold approximately 600 individuals. HOSPITALITY Hospitality area will be available to all with wristbands. o Wristbands will be provided to coaches/officials/scorers/volunteers It will be located in the baby pool area of the pool deck. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. MISCELLANEOUS Coach s area will be on the grassy area of the pool deck. EMS will be on site for the entire meet. CAS Swimwear will be located on the front lawn of Maple Elementary. A t-shirt vendor will be selling 2014 SSL champs wear on the front lawn of Maple Elementary. Chardon volunteers will be assisting with parking. Alcohol is not permitted on any premises. Should anyone be found consuming alcohol, it will be enforced by the Chardon Police Department for the removal of the container, alcohol and/or person(s). Please be considerate to others that are nonsmokers and the athletes. Maple Avenue between the team sitting area and the pool house will be closed to traffic. First Aid will be located at the pool house unless it is a major injury for EMS. 3
