2 Background Auditorium and Pool studied for over 20 years 1992 School District referendum (District-wide upgrades) 1999 School District referendum (High School upgrades) Auditorium committee and architects Pool committee and architects Community Center studied in 2011 Community-wide survey conducted in Fall 2013 Current facilities have served the community well for over 45 years

3 Community Facilities 60% of auditorium spectators (12,000) are nonstudent/staff (Village/Community) Pool used 60% by Village/Community and 40% by Schools Over 17,000 Community Center users/visits per year Village-run referendum costs 41% less than School District referendum Community facilities help maintain the Village as a desirable location which in turn helps stabilize and increase property values

4 Referendum Questions Village Board approved four referendum questions for the April 1, 2014 election Question #1 A new community auditorium attached to the northwest corner of the high school $8,000,000 Question #2 New community center at Klipstine Park $3,900,000 Question #3 A new, replacement community swimming pool attached to the southwest corner of the high school $7,500,000 Question #4 Warm-Water activity pool to support youth and senior activities $1,500,000

5 Question #1 Community Auditorium The current auditorium: Has unsafe areas such as the stage, floor, corridors, mezzanine and lighting areas Does not have permanent wheelchair access or handicap seating The seating area, stage, wing space and set storage are small Lacks features, technology and basic amenities - limiting its use The Need
