2 Welcome to BURNHAM PARK POOL REGISTER ONLINE at and click on Burnham Pool-Register Now This beautiful complex houses one (1) 25 x 50 meter pool, one (1) separate diving tank, one (1) wading pool with fountains, one (1) training pool and a sand beach, a concession stand, picnic area, and bathroom facilities. Swimming is daily from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m. BURNHAM PARK POOL SWIM LESSONS There will be instructional swimming Mondays through Thursdays 9:00AM to 11:30AM. There are no classes on Fridays. These programs will consist of pre-school ages 2 & 3, which is held in the wading pool, beginner swimmers (minimum age is 3 years old and must be able to stand in the training pool). LESSONS ARE AT NO COST, FOR MEMBERS ONLY AND ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. Session One begins Monday, June 24 and runs through July 11. You must register for the first session at the time of your registration for the pool. Session Two begins Monday, July 15 and runs through August 1. Registration for Session Two will be the week of July 8th July 12th for those in Session One on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. You may register for Session Two at any time if you are not in Session One. SWIM LESSON LEVELS ARE LISTED AT THE END OF THIS DOCUMENT COMPETITIVE SWIMMING ACTIVITY Burnham Pool offers a competitive swimming program available to all Morristown youth and members of the pool. THE AGE GROUPS ARE 8 AND UNDER, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, AND The Burnham Park Swim Team will compete with other teams in the Morris County Swim League. The team will practice Monday through Friday; practice times vary by age group. HOW TO REGISTER Burnham Pool members may register online. To register for the Burnham Pool, please go to web site click on Burnham Pool-Register Now link. The Recreation Office is located at 200 South St. 3rd floor. Please call (973) with any questions. If you already have a CommunityPass account, please use you or username and password to log in and follow the instructions to register for the Burnham Pool. If you do not have a CommunityPass account, please follow the instructions on the site to create the account. Once an account is created, please follow the instructions on the site to register for the pool. While going through the registration process, please be sure to create and select all your family members that you would like to register for the pool. Registration for swim lessons and swim team may also be done at this time. Complimentary guest passes will be added to your account upon registration. Additional passes may be purchased at anytime and will be added to your account. Paper books will no longer be issued. If your family is registering for the pool for the first time, you must come to the Recreation Office to process your identification cards after registering online. Please bring pictures of ALL family members to create

3 identification cards. All returning members can validate their identification cards at the Recreation office or at Burnham Pool after you register online SPECIAL REGISTRATION TIME AT THE RECREATION OFFICE located at 200 South Street: THURSDAY, JUNE 20 th 5:00PM 7:00PM New member pictures and card validation. POOL MEMBERSHIP FAMILY PLAN: Includes two adults (only); either husband and wife, or widow/widower, or a single parent and all unmarried children, natural or adopted, of the same family residing in the same household not over 17 years of age. Children enrolled as full time college or vocational school students, not older than 22 years of age, may be included as a family member with the proper proof of their enrollment. ADULT PLAN: This plan is open to all individuals between the ages of 18 and 59. YOUTH PLAN: Open to all children between the ages of 5 and 17. However, all CHILDREN MUST REGISTER WITH AN ADULT/GUARDIAN PRESENT. ALL CHILDREN 10 YEARS OLD AND UNDER MUST BE ACCOMPANIED AND ATTENDED BY AN ADULT WHENEVER USING THE POOL FACILITY. SENIOR CITIZEN PLAN: This plan is available to all adults 60 years of age and over. DAILY PLAN: This plan is available to individuals wishing to use the pool on a daily basis. A validated photo I.D. CARD will be required. The cost of the CARD is $38.00 for Residents, $50.00 for Non-Residents, plus Daily fees will be charged at the gate (see following page). DAILY MEMBERSHIP CARD HOLDERS MAY NOT HAVE GUESTS (only Full Membership holders will be allowed guests). GUESTS must be accompanied by Member to enter the pool. Members must remain with their guests throughout their entire visit. THE LIMIT IS TWO (2) GUESTS A DAY PER MEMBERSHIP. GUEST PASS FEES at the gate: RES. Non-RES. We also reserve the right to restrict the number of daily guests when the day s capacity has been met. MEMBERSHIPS ARE NON- TRANSFERABLE. Fees paid will not be refunded after opening day. HOURS OF OPERATION: BURNHAM PARK SWIMMING POOL RULES AND REGULATIONS The Burnham Park Pool will open for use on June 15, Subject to school closing, a modified schedule will be in effect until the last day of school. Burnham Park Pool will be open every day, weather permitting, from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m. through August 14th. Pool hours are 12:00 Noon to 7:30 p.m. starting August 15th. The pool will be cleared 10 minutes before closing. POOL WILL CLOSE AT 5:00 P.M. ON LABOR DAY. The POOL MANAGER or ASSISTANT MANAGER may close or limit the swimming facilities for the protection of health and safety of the members and guests (EXAMPLE: extreme weather conditions or over crowding).

5 DEFINITIONS: AGE : Shall be determined as the individual s age as of the official date of opening of each session. RESIDENT : Shall mean an individual whose legal place of residence is the Town of Morristown. POOL AREA : The entire fenced area surrounding the pool tanks. POOL DECK : The area of concrete immediately surrounding the pool tanks. PICNIC AREA : Those areas designated for picnicking outside of the pool area and adjacent to the sand beach. MEMBERSHIP: a. Membership is open to residents of the Town of Morristown and is additionally open to residents of the State of New Jersey who have paid the required fees. Proof of residency, age, or applicable school enrollment is required. b. Membership is non-transferable. Transfer of membership identification will result in revocation or suspension of membership. c. All memberships are granted subject to the Rules and Regulations as established by the Department of Public Works. Failure to abide by these Rules and Regulations may result in revocation of membership. MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES: (To enter the facility you must be a member or a guest of a member) FAMILY MEMBERSHIP : Shall include two adults (only); husband, wife, widow/widower, or single parent and all unmarried children, natural or adopted, of the same family residing in the same household who are not over 17 years of age as of the opening day of the season. Family membership shall also include children who are residing in the same household, not older than 22 years of age, who are presently enrolled in a full time program in college or a vocational school. COUPLE : Shall be two adults, married or unmarried, with or without infant children under 5 years old, who reside in the same household. ADULT : Shall be determined as the individual s legal adult age as of the official opening date of the season. YOUTH : Shall include any individual between the ages of 5 and 17 (inclusive) as of the opening day of the season. SENIOR CITIZEN : Shall include any person 60 years and over as of the opening day of the season. GUEST : A non-member who must be accompanied by a member to enter the pool. Members must remain with their guests during their guests visit.

6 CONDITIONS: All members will be issued photo identification CARDS which must be presented for admission to the pool area and must be available at all times when within the pool area. There is no charge for each member s CARD. However, there will be a $7.00 fee for replacement of lost or damaged CARDS during the season. Infants and children under five will not be issued identification CARDS. You can revalidate cards at the pool or at the Recreation Office. Identification CARDS are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Illegal transfer of identification CARDS, the giving of false information upon application for membership, or the defacing of identification CARDS will result in revocation or suspension of membership. Persons found in possession of a CARD which is not registered under their name will be suspended from use for the duration of the season. A record of lost CARDS will be maintained. Found identification CARDS must be reported and given to the PoolManager immediately. LOST identification CARDS must be reported to the Pool Manager immediately and must be replaced by purchase of a replacement CARD. The issuance of replacement photo identification CARDS and payments thereof must be done, as soon as possible after loss of original CARD, in person at the Recreation Office, Morristown Municipal Building, 200 South Street, Morristown. POOL RULES: All bathers, including babies, must wear bathing suits in the swimming pool. Cut-offs will not be allowed as proper attire for bathing. Bathing trunks must have hems. Infants and children not toilet-trained MUST wear plastic pants over diapers and training pants. No member is allowed in the water unless lifeguards are on duty. No artificial floating devices or paraphernalia, including toys, balls, rafts, inner tubes, snorkels, facemasks, fins and the like shall be allowed in the pool. Any persons having a communicable disease, open blisters or cuts, sores, inflamed eyes, ears, nose or mouth infections, excessive sunburn, or any type of skin disease will be excluded from the pool area. No person wearing any type of bandage, cast or band-aids shall be permitted in the pool. Shirts of any kind are not permitted to be worn while swimming, without permission of Pool Manager. At all times, children under ten years of age shall not be permitted in the pool area unless accompanied and attended by a responsible adult who must remain with them at all times. CHILDREN ELEVEN AND TWELVE YEARS OLD WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT AN ADULT ONLY UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A SWIMMING PROFICIENCY TEST.

7 DIVING RULES: a. Diving is permitted in the diving tank only. b. Swimming is not permitted in the diving tank. c. Excessive bouncing on the board is prohibited. d. There will be no retrieving of objects from the bottom of diving tank unless authorized by the lifeguards. e. Divers shall not congregate on the diving stands. Only one diver is allowed on the diving stand at a time. f. Each diver shall wait until the preceding diver has surfaced and cleared the diving area before attempting to use the diving board. g. Diving from the sides of the diving boards or from the diving stand is not permitted. GENERAL RULES: a. All vehicles must park in designated parking areas only. b. Bicycles must be parked in the bike racks provided at the main gate. (No responsibility is taken by the Town for lost, stolen or vandalized bicycles). c. Street shoes will not be permitted on the pool deck area. d. Dressing and undressing will not be permitted in the parking areas. Dressing and undressing is permitted only in the bathhouses. e. No person shall comb his or her hair within the pool deck area. f. Goggles are not permitted on the diving boards. g. All foods must be consumed and served within the confines of the picnic area. Under no circumstances shall food or beverages be brought into the pool area. h. Destruction of property will result in revocation or suspension of membership, and may result in criminal charges and penalties. i. It is recommended that valuables be left at home. No facilities for checking valuables are provided. The Town will not be responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal property of members and daily guests. j. All litter, paper or debris must be placed in trash container. Littering is a violation of Park and Health Ordinances. k. Card tables and umbrellas are permitted in designated areas only at the discretion of the pool management. l. Attire in and out of the pool must be consistent with standards of good taste.

8 GENERAL PROHIBITIONS: a. NO GLASS OR METAL CONTAINERS OF ANY TYPE ARE ALLOWED IN THE POOL AREA. b. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park or pool area including parking lots. No one under the influence of alcohol will be allowed in the pool area and parking lots. c. Baby carriages, play pens, cribs or furniture of any kind will not be permitted within the pool enclosure. These items may be left at the pool gate. Car beds and infant seats will be permitted. Pool members are permitted to bring their own beach chairs to the pool. Lounge chairs are permitted. d. Wrestling, running, ball playing or other similar activities are not permitted in the pool area or parking lots. e. Pets/animals are not permitted. f. No horn blowing or loud music. g. No smoking on the pool deck areas. Smoking is confined to the grassy hill on the Rt. 24 side of the pool. Smoking is not permitted under the shelter. Extinguish and dispose of cigarette butts properly. h. No spitting, expectorating or spouting of water. i. No roughness, rowdiness, profanity, "horsing around" or other conduct affecting the safety and comfort of others is permitted. j. ABSOLUTELY NO SWIMMING DURING ELECTRICAL STORMS. k. Failure to abide by lifeguard s or pool manager s instruction may result in membership suspension or revocation. l. No soliciting is permitted in the pool area. m. No loitering in the parking areas. ENFORCEMENT OF RULES AND REGULATIONS: a. Regulations shall be posted at the pool and be strictly enforced. b. The Director of Public Works, or his/her designee (such as the Recreation Manager or Pool Managers in his/her absence) may temporarily close or clear the pool in an emergency (i.e. inclement weather, electrical storm, etc.) c. The Director of Public Works or his/her designee, as noted above, shall have the authority to prohibit any action in violation of the rules listed above, and shall have the power of expulsion or suspension of the privileges otherwise granted to the holder of a membership. The Director, his/her designee, and Recreation Staff have full authority to call local police for assistance when necessary.
