The Pioneers will enter the meet as the No. 16 team in the nation, joining No. 4 LSU, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 23 Washington, Michigan State and host Iowa State. The top two teams from Saturday s meet will advance to the NC National Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, on April ALL-AMERICAN AND ALL-MRGC HONORS Five Pioneers earned national and conference awards, led by Nina McGee (Cincinnati, Ohio) who was named a regular season All-American on floor (first team) and in the all-around (second team). McGee also earned multiple accolades from the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference, including conference Gymnast of the Year and All-MRGC on all four events and the all-around. Senior Ellese Sakai-Hart (Aptos, Calif.) earned First-Team All-MRGC honors on beam and floor. All three of DU s sophomores won an All- Conference award: Rachel Fielitz (Walden, N.Y.) first team on vault, Leah Lomonte (Katy, Texas) first team on beam and Julia Ross (Henderson, Nev.) second team on bars. MEET OVERVIEW Denver earned the No. 3 seed at the Ames Regional, behind No. 1-seed LSU and No. 2-seed Nebraska. The remaining seeds are No. 4 Washington, No. 5 Michigan State and No. 6 Iowa State. The individual event specialists are Jessica Wallander of Air Force on vault and bars; Annie Graft of Air Force on beam; and Alexandra Stych of Air Force on floor. REGIONALS HISTORY Denver finished third at the 2014 Seattle Regional with a Of gymnasts currently on the DU roster, McGee finished highest on bars and floor, tying for fourth on both events. This will be the second straight Regionals that Denver, Nebraska and Washington have all competed at together. In 2014, Nebraska finished second, and Washington finished fourth. Nebraska returns senior DeZiel, who tied for first on vault, third on bars and tied for third in all-around at the 2014 Regionals. Washington is again led by Northey, who finished ninth in the all-around in DU last advanced to the NC National Championships in 2008 after finishing second at the University Park Regional, making it backto-back Nationals appearances for Denver. The Pioneers also finished second in 2007 when they hosted Regionals. Denver has qualified to NC Regionals a total of 19 times, only once competing in Ames back in 2006 and finishing fourth.
