2 Ad Hoc Birmingham Brand Development Committee Minutes - DRAFT Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. City Hall, 151 Martin St. Room 205, Monday, January 30, 2017 Present: Absent: City Staff: Public: Rackeline Hoff, Mark Nickita, Celeste Hoffley, Bert Koseck, Douglas Fehan, Peter Hollinshead Lilly Stotland Joellen Haines, Assistant to the City Manager McCann Detroit staff: Melisa Mackevicius-Leonard, Susan Stallings, Lindsey Laesch. The Committee discussed approval of the minutes from the Nov. 30, 2016 meeting. Doug Fehan made a motion to approve the minutes, Peter Hollinshead seconded. All were in favor. Committee Chair Mark Nickita opened the meeting by explaining that the objective of the meeting is to view the designs presented by McCann Detroit for the new City logo and provide feedback to the design team on the logos. McCann gave their visual identity creative presentation, which included 10 different designs, along with various renderings and uses of the logos on city signs, equipment and clothing. The Committee decided to approach the critiques in a workshop setting, and all 10 designs were arranged on black boards in numerical order for the group to see side by side. Each member of the Committee gave his or her critique on the designs, and offered suggestions to improve or modify the renderings. McCann took note of the suggestions and said they will convey that to the designers. The Committee discussed their next step which is to have McCann return with modified city logo designs based on Committee feedback for a follow up workshop/meeting on March 6, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. The suggestion was made by the Committee to attempt to meet before March 6, and McCann said they would keep Joellen Haines apprised of their time schedule to determine if a meeting prior to March 6 could be scheduled. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
