2 WELCOME & THANK YOU GetLoud is just around the corner, and we ve got everything you need to make your day spectacular. From the packing list to the event schedule, our guide will ensure you know what to bring and what s happening on the big day. And for those who haven t hit their fundraising minimum, we ve got all the tips and tricks you need to get there so you can join us at Fort York for the festival. As of today, we ve raised a lot of money for SickKids. And it ll go a long way to finding future cures and building a new hospital a state-of-the-art building to enable even better care for all our patients. But we re still shy of our goal of $2.5 million. So, help us keep the momentum going. Fundraise. Spread the word. But most importantly: GetLoud! 2

3 GETTING TO GETLOUD There is limited parking available, so we encourage participants to be dropped off or stay green and take public transit to join us. Fleet St. Fort York Blvd. Strachan Ave. PARTICIPANT PARKING Princes Blvd. Lake Shore Blvd. W CORONATION PARK Rememberance Dr. 3

4 ARRIVAL BY CAR DROP OFF OR PARKING FROM THE GARDINER EXPRESSWAY EASTBOUND: Take the Jameson exit on the Gardiner Expressway and continue east on Lakeshore Boulevard. Turn left at Newfoundland Rd., then turn right onto Princes Blvd. If getting dropped off at the event, pull up at Princes Gate and walk to Coronation Park (look for the crew onsite to help guide you there). If parking, turn left up Canada Blvd. and then left again into the underground parking at Enercare Centre. FROM THE GARDINER EXPRESSWAY WESTBOUND: Take the Spadina exit on the Gardiner Expressway and continue west on Lakeshore Boulevard. Heading directly towards Princes Gate, turn right at Strachan Ave. Then turn left Manitoba Dr., which turns into Canada Blvd. If getting dropped off, proceed to Princes Gate for unloading, then walk to Coronation Park (look for the crew onsite to help guide you there). If parking, turn right into underground parking at Enercare Centre. There is no parking at Fort York as the festival is taking over! Parking is available at the Enercare Centre at 100 Princes Boulevard. Further directions and parking information can be found here. PARKING COST: $15 ARRIVAL BY TTC FROM THE BLOOR-DANFORTH SUBWAY LINE: Take the 511 Exhibition streetcar south from Bathurst subway station. Exit at the Manitoba Dr. stop, then walk east towards Strachan Ave. Turn right down Strachan Ave., stopping to cross at Lakeshore Blvd. Proceed along Strachan Ave., then turn left onto Remembrance Dr. Look for the GetLoud signage at Coronation Park, which will be up ahead of you, to your right. FROM UNION SUBWAY STATION: Take the 509 Harbourfront streetcar towards the Canadian National Exhibition grounds on Fleet Street. Exit at the Manitoba Dr. stop, then walk east towards Strachan Ave. Turn right down Strachan Ave., stopping to cross at Lakeshore Blvd. Proceed along Strachan Ave., then turn left onto Remembrance Dr. Look for the GetLoud signage at Coronation Park, which will be up ahead of you, to your right. 4

For those who can t make it all the way by foot, there will be a shuttle to the finish line available at the 2.5km rest stop. 6 PREPARING FOR GETLOUD PLEASE BRING Layers Comfy shoes & clothes Sun/rain gear make sure to check the forecast before you come! Low profile lawn chairs Blankets Non-professional cameras (no detachable lenses) Umbrellas (no beach umbrellas) Small backpacks PLEASE LEAVE AT HOME Alcohol Narcotics Professional audio and video recording devices Large lawn chairs that will obstruct views ONLINE REGISTRATION Online registration for GetLoud will close at 11:59 pm on Thursday, September 27th. Please ensure all your team members are registered by that date to ensure a smooth registration process on day of. If you add team members to your team, please note that it may increase the fundraising amount required by your team to qualify for festival access and/or fundraising rewards. See the Fundraising Rewards section of this guide for more information. ONSITE REGISTRATION Onsite registration will be available on the day of the event. We will not be able to add new team members to existing teams on the day of the event and therefore we will not be able to apply an existing team s fundraising results to new participants who sign up on day of. Please note, adults registering on the day of the event will need to pay the registration fee of $30 and provide a minimum of $300 in donations or make a self-donation to qualify for festival access. Youth registering for March + Festival must be accompanied by an adult who has paid their registration fee and met their fundraising minimum. There is no registration fee or fundraising requirement to register for the March Only. To register day of, please visit the CHECK-IN tent at Coronation Park before 10:00 am, or the CHECK-IN tent at Fort York after 11:30 am for festival access only. 6

7 FUNDRAISING Thank you to everyone who s fundraising for GetLoud. All funds raised go to SickKids Foundation. GetLoud fundraising will help unleash the full potential of SickKids including smashing the limits of an old building, the limits on generating new knowledge and translating it to treatment, and the limits on delivering seamless health care to every child. We re building a new SickKids, and it s going to take all of us. So all of us need to GetLoud! FUNDRAISING FOR FESTIVAL ACCESS: Remember, for those who registered for the adult March + Festival, the fundraising requirement of $300 is mandatory for festival access. You must either reach your fundraising minimum individually on your personal page, or your team must reach an average of $300 per adult March + Festival participant for the team to collectively earn access to the festival. Youth do not have a fundraising minimum but must be accompanied by a registered adult who has hit their fundraising minimum to gain access to the festival. Already reached your goal? Congratulations! Don t stop there the more we fundraise, the greater the impact we ll have on the kids and families who rely on SickKids. Login at GetLoudforSickKids.ca to increase your fundraising goal on your personal page and see how far you can go! If you re still working towards your fundraising goal, we are here to support you. Visit the Participant Centre for ideas and resources including our Social Media Toolkit with suggested messaging and images for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. FINAL TIPS TO GET YOU THERE: Set a good example if you haven t already, donate to your own campaign. It lets people know you re serious about fighting against limits at SickKids and sets the bar for any forthcoming donations. Ask once and ask again don t get discouraged if you don t get a reply right away. People tend to be busy and may have missed your ask the first time. Ask again and let them know that the event is just around the corner. Go mobile. Use the SickKids GetLoud app to easily ask for donations, track your progress, and thank your donors via or social media. Download it to your iphone/ipad/android today! 7

8 FUNDRAISING REWARDS We have some exciting fundraising rewards for those who have gone above and beyond in their fundraising. You can qualify for these rewards individually, or through your team fundraising. Here s how each reward level works: FESTIVAL ACCESS: Based on a $300 average fundraising amount per March + Festival adult on the team If team average is not met, March + Festival adults who have reached $300 on their personal page will receive a Festival wristband (along with their associated youth) Available to registered March + Festival participants only SICKKIDS FLAG: Based on a $600 average fundraising amount per all adults on the team One per team (provided to team captain if your team captain is not able to attend, please designate a co-captain by contacting our office by September 27th) Individuals who are not on a team and raise $600 or more will qualify to receive a SickKids Flag. One per household. SICKKIDS HOODIE: Based on a $1,200 average fundraising amount per all adults on the team (every member of the team will receive a hoodie if this average is met) If team average is not met, individuals who have reached $1,200 on their personal page will receive a hoodie (along with their associated youth) MAX VOLUME LOUNGE: Based on a $1,500 average fundraising amount per March + Festival adult on the team If team average is not met, March + Festival adults who have reached $1,500 on their personal page will receive a Max Volume Lounge wristband (along with their associated youth) Available to March + Festival participants only 8

9 To upgrade your registration to March + Festival, please contact our office at or info@getloudforsickkids.ca by Thursday September 27th. There is a $30 registration fee for adults (18+), and no registration fee for youth (0 17). Please note that each upgraded adult will increase the team s required fundraising minimum for Festival and Max Volume Lounge access. Participants will have the opportunity to top up their fundraising with a self-pledge on the day of the event, during the check-in process. Please visit a CHECK-IN & DONATIONS line if you will be making a donation there. You may also make a self-donation online at GetLoudforSickKids.ca, against your personal page. 10 EVENT DAY CHECK-IN All participants taking part in the march should arrive to the start location at Coronation Park between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. When you arrive at Coronation Park, you will need to visit the CHECK-IN tent. Here you will receive your event credentials, drop off offline donations, verify your fundraising total, and receive a ballot outlining which fundraising rewards and event day benefits you have earned. If you or your team raised an average of $300 per adult by August 31st, you should have received an from our team instructing you to go directly to the EXPRESS CHECK-IN tent on the morning of the event. Please have this handy (either printed or digital) to receive access to the Express Check-In line. If you haven t received this , and believe you should have, please contact the GetLoud team at or info@getloudforsickkids.ca by Thursday September 27th. Note, only those signed up as March + Festival will receive an event t-shirt. We have special t-shirts for SickKids Kids and SickKids Families, so please ensure you self-identify when picking up your t-shirt to ensure you receive the correct t-shirt. We have SickKids Hero badges available for all SickKids Kids be sure to ask for yours during registration. If you plan to attend the festival only, you may check-in at Fort York anytime after 11:30 am. Access to Fort York is through the Bentway. BAG CHECK Bag Check will be available for drop-off of items at the start of the march (Coronation Park) and pick-up will be available at the end of the march (The Bentway), so you can check your festival items (lawn chairs, small umbrellas, etc.) and not have to bring them along with you during the march. WATER AT GETLOUD Each participant will receive a reusable water bottle, courtesy of FedEx when they arrive at Coronation Park, the start of the march. There will be water refill stations available throughout the event, including at Coronation Park, the one rest stop along the 5km route, the finish line at the Bentway and the festival at Fort York. 10

11 FOOD AND DRINKS AT GETLOUD START LOCATION CORONATION PARK Upon arrival at Coronation Park, a light grab-and-go breakfast (muffins, yogurt, fruit) will be available to all participants. This will include gluten-free and dairy-free options. FESTIVAL FORT YORK All participants who qualify for the festival will receive a free BBQ lunch at the festival. Upon check-in, participants will receive a ballot card, which will include access to the free BBQ lunch and Maple Lodge Farms lunch. The Food Truck Lane, amplified by Canaccord Genuity, will offer additional tasty treats, including Rancho Relaxo, Food Dudes, Reunion Island Coffee, Smoothie Solutions, and a wood fired pizza truck. Food truck items are available for purchase via cash, credit and debit. Free ice cream will also be available at the Food Truck Lane, amplified by Canaccord Genuity. The GetLoud festival site will be licensed with beer, cider and wine, available for purchase via cash, credit and debit. Soft drinks will also be available for purchase at each of the bar locations within the festival. If you have special dietary needs, we suggest bringing your own snacks and meals. We cannot guarantee that items have not come into contact with nuts or other allergens. If you have any questions regarding the rally, march or festival experience, please call us at BRINGING YOUR DOG TO GETLOUD Well socialized, healthy dogs are permitted to join you and your family on the march. If you bring your dog, you are solely responsible for their behaviour. All dogs must be kept on a leash at all times during the event and are not permitted in any food and beverage serving areas. Please be courteous and pick up after your dog throughout the event. Please note: While dogs are allowed to attend the festival, loud music will be played throughout the day, which may not be good for all dogs. Please take this into consideration before bringing your dog to GetLoud. SAFETY ON THE MARCH ROUTE The march component of GetLoud includes a 5km walk through the streets of downtown Toronto. The route has been clearly marked with GetLoud arrows. There will be volunteer crew along the route to help guide you and keep you safe please obey their instructions as well as traffic signals and stay on the sidewalks at all times. Sweep vehicles will be travelling with participants throughout the march route. If at any time you feel you cannot complete the march, flag down a sweep vehicle to assist you. 11

There will be a live social feed on the big screens at the festival, so that everyone can join the conversation! 2019 REGISTRATION We have a special opportunity to register for the 2019 SickKids GetLoud during the event. You can do this at Coronation Park before the march, or at Fort York during the festival. Adults who register for the 2019 March + Festival will receive a discounted registration fee of $20. Adults and youth who register for the 2019 March + Festival will also receive a special edition SickKids buff, while quantities last. Everyone who registers for March + Festival, March Only or Volunteer Crew will be entered into a draw to win a Food Truck party for 25, generously donated by Food Dudes. 13
