That gave them tremendous hope and probably knocked our confidence, which due to the run we ve been on was already fragile. Take absolutely nothing away from Craigmark, as a club we know what it is like to win against a bigger team in the cup but in all honestly for a club like Clydebank the result was embarrassing. In our time in the Juniors it is one of our worst results, if not the worst. I would like to apologise to the fans. I know that at the moment they maybe don t want to hear an apology, they want to see an improvement in results and we re striving to get there, I have a good relationship with the club and if the type of situation was needed, where a change would be best for the club I m sure we would work that out amicably. Myself and those at the club have Clydebank s interests at heart but we are not thinking along those lines we are thinking of how to change things round. We are not in a situation where we can go out and fix it financially. I am up for the challenge and I suppose we will find out in the next few weeks if the players are too, maybe we already know with some of them because the club can only do so much, I think we give them a great platform to play. This afternoon we welcome Lossiemouth United to Holm Park and it would be good to get back on a winning streak starting today and book a place in the third round of the Scottish Junior Cup. I was extremely saddened to learn this week of David McAllister s passing. I knew him well through his work with Yoker and as the West Region Treasurer, my condolences go out to his friends and family at this sad time. 5 Wish Bankies all the best for season Chairman s Chat Last Saturday's defeat in the West of Scotland Cup was a hard one to take. For the club, in a League where there are only 11 home games, it was a huge blow. Cup competitions are a great way of generating extra revenue for the club so any exit at the hands of lower League teams is a real disappointment. Auchinleck Talbot put us out of the West last year and that was mainly a footballing setback having played so well in the match for long spells, but at least we had an extra home match and a decent turn from another clash with Tommy Sloan's fine side. Losing against Craigmark Burntonians was a blow on every level possible and made worse because it was entirely self inflicted. The team bus going back up the road was the most subdued I have ever seen it and no wonder, the result, coming on the back of a poor run, means extra anxiety from those in the team to the those on the terracing. As chairman, I completely understand why everyone will feel down at the moment. I would not seek to minimise the disappointment in football terms. And I am also acutely aware that our fans have had to fork out money to travel to Aberdeenshire and Dalmellington in the space of a month. But I hope it comes as some reassurance that everyone behind the scenes is working as hard as possible to improve things on the park. We usually find out more about a person's character in testing moments than we do when things are going well. As chairman, I hope that all those who care about Clydebank FC will pull together to turn our fortunes around. That means supporting both the manager and the players and understanding the nature of our club. Setbacks and bad runs of form are part of football and some perspective is required when they come round. Today we welcome Lossiemouth United to Holm Park for the second round of the Scottish Junior Cup. Please get right behind the team for this vital match and help us all put last week's disappointment behind us. 7 Proud To Be a Bankie On this page we put the spotlight on a Bankies fan, this week it s the turn of former club Director Frank Hotchkiss 1.How long have you been supporting Bankies? Since I was 8, over 40 years ago. 2.What was your first game and were you a first game jinx? As far as I remember, we were home to Airdrieonians in April 1974 and we won 2-1. (Scored by Roxburgh and Ward White) 3.Player you have enjoyed watching the most? In Senior days, if I have to pick one it would have to be Davie Cooper, a quite unbelievable talent. In the Juniors it would be Daz, by far the best player I have seen at this level for any team. 4.Best Bankies goal seen scored?i can't pick just one, but lots of Cooper's goals when he seemed to go past numerous defenders before scoring; or one of Eadie's headers which were more powerful than most people's shots. 5.Favourite ever Bankies goal (Not necessarily the best)? Equaliser at East Fife to make it 4-4 from 4-1 down and Mackie's goal in the Junior cup final. 6.What is your favourite all time strip? White with red trimmings on the sleeves and broad red/ black/red horizontal stripes off -centre. Away tops, red with the white diagonal, which reminds me of a strip my sister had and the purple Wet Wet Wet top. 7.In your opinion what is the problem with results this season? A combination of factors. We have lost a number of good players who have been very difficult to replace. We have struggled to find the right partnership in the centre of defence. A number of our more reliable players are not performing as well as they have. We are playing with little confidence, which shows especially in our young strikers. We have also had a few injuries and absences to cope with. We can't have a good season every year, we are probably overdue a poor one, but I have every confidence in our management team to come through this. 8.A lot of talk on the forum about applying for Lowland League, what is your own take on this? I am in favour of it. I want Clydebank to play at the highest level possible and at the moment this seems to offer the only way back to the Seniors for us. There are also financial rewards which would benefit us and entry into the Senior Scottish Cup, which I would love to see us play in again. It is a big step, but we've taken them before. 9.Do you look forward to the day we run out at our own ground? Very much so. I loved Kilbowie, it felt like home and was a unique wee ground. I know we won't be recreating that however there is so much more we could do if we had our own ground, quite apart from the security, financial and otherwise, it would bring. 30 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON

8 Proud To Be a Bankie. cont d 10.Having spent some time on the board yourself, I have to ask did you enjoy it and would you have done anything different? I really enjoyed my time on the board. I was very proud to represent the club and it always gave me a thrill to sign for things on behalf of Clydebank FC. Being involved in the day to day running of a club can be almost all-consuming, but it is also very rewarding. When we won our first League Cup, I took the trophy home that night and into the school I worked in the next day. (I gave it back eventually). I'm sure there are things I would change, but you make decisions at the time in the best interests of the club as you see it. 11.Realistically, what would you settle for right now as to how our season will finish up? I would settle for staying in the division. A wee run in the Scottish would be welcome too. 12.Finally Frank, can you give us any tips on how you are able to win so many raffles and signed strips etc.? I have always won things, just lucky! Unlike a friend of mine who went to Africa recently and couldn't stop buying raffle tickets; he's now been diagnosed with tombola. (I'd better stop now...) 10 Bankies v Arthurlie Report Junior League Tables Clydebank 1 Arthurlie 1 Ian Gold s last-gasp equaliser and Robert Hamilton's injury-time super save earned The Bankies a hardfought point against 10-men Arthurlie. It looked like being another day of disappointment for Budgie McGhie's strugglers as they huffed and puffed to break down opponents who had been a man short since the 39th minute. Arthurlie grabbed the lead early in the second half and Bankies hardly threatened until supersub Gold headed in what could be a priceless point winner. His effort arrived in the 91st minute but there was still time for Lie to nearly snatch the points. Gary Smith broke down the left and cut in before hitting a weak shot at goal. The ball bounced in front of Hamilton and he could only parry it into the danger area. It looked a certain goal as Ryan McArdle pounced on the rebound but Rab the redeemer spread himself superbly to block the strike and leave the Arthurlie player visibly shaken. Lie dominated early on and Paul Stewart nodded over then saw Hamilton beat away another headed effort from a corner. Muir was shown a second yellow for scything down Jordan Shelvey as he raced down the left. As so often happens it was the 10 men who reacted better to the loss and in 49 minutes Lie were ahead. Ryan McGregor's header from a corner was cleared off the line by Reece Pearson but the loose ball fell to McGregor who smashed it high into the net. It should have been 2-0 when Andy Irvine duffed a clearance straight to Stewart but Hamilton saved his weak effort. Then sub McTernan went on a lung-bursting run down the left before cutting inside and sending over a cross that fooled Hamilton and crashed off the bar. In injury time Bankies were awarded a corner even though the ball looked like it smashed off Ramage. Lie players protested furiously and were caught out as Ramage sent over a perfect near-post delivery for Gold to rise and direct into the far corner. Bankies tried to push for a winner but it was Lie who came close on the break but Hamilton's superb save clinched just Bankies' second point of the season. Before this season The Bankies had faced just one other side from that region, in the shape of Formartine Utd, and that was a first round tie in the season that Budgie McGhie s men went all the way to the final. This term Clydebank faced Colony Park in the cup first round, taking two attempts to get through, before today s second round tie paired them with today s visitors. Highland League club Lossiemouth s manager Steve Dunn has been quoted as saying that his side would be using United as a form of feeder club as time moves on helping local young talent progress to the Highland League, a very progressive move for the team whose Glasgow based supporters ironically sponsored the match ball in the Colony Park replay a few weeks ago. 12 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON

Beginning with the North version of the Sectional League Cup - where they lined up against top division Hall Russell United and Ellon United, neither leading lights in that division, Sunnybank, from the same league as Colony Park, as well as Grantown, from their own division - they failed to gain a point. United s form in knock out competition is no better. They went out in the first rounds of both the North Regional and Inter-Regional League Cups in the first round at the hands of Dyce and Cruden Bay respectively. The Scottish Cup regularly throws together ties such as this whereby a team from one area of the country has to travel a very long way to play a tie. As stated in the Colony Park programme it can be difficult for some sides to balance this in a financial sense as very often clubs can actually lose money in taking part in the blue ribbon event of the Scottish junior football calendar. It is okay for some to scoff at this but the treasurers at many clubs across the country fear the draw and hope for a local tie against a well-supported side to help balance the books come the season s end. Things like replays and trips to far flung corners of the country have a drain on whatever money clubs raise and need for day to day activities. For that reason, if for no other, the Bankies treasurer hopes that this afternoon s fixture is dealt with in the ninety minutes. Clydebank are going through the most difficult period of their time in junior football. Confidence appears to be extremely low amongst players and supporters alike and the growing disquiet amongst some fans is getting more and more palpable. This is not lost on the management team who are equally alarmed at how the hard work put in at training is failing to materialise on match days. Killing off teams when well in front during games is not new to anyone who has followed Bankies over the years, the problems arise when chances are no longer being created. A draw at Colony Park and a defeat at Craigmark Burntonians, both clubs Clydebank were massive favourites to beat, doesn t bode well for challenges against the likes of the Auchinlecks of this world. If any fan thought that the omens were good in drawing a North Region side in round one leading to an appearance in the Scottish Cup final, as it did in the season, then this will have gone. There is a great deal of work to be done to regain the air of invincibility that Bankies once had over some sides. Turf accountants are rarely wrong. However, in the first round of both the Scottish and West of Scotland Cups they had Clydebank as overwhelming favourites to win but, as stated above they didn t, proving Bookies are not always correct. Today Bankies will once again be favourites to win and this time if they don t do it there is a possibility that some fans could turn on the team, something everyone who supports the club does not want to see. It will take a good performance to get the dissenters back onside but the players have that in their lockers and hopefully this game will be decided at the first time of asking. Can Clydebank get back on the road to winning ways and end this tie in one game? Ninety minutes will tell. 24 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON
