4 4.0 RULES OF THE GAME The Tournament shall be conducted in accordance with Competition Regulations and Rules and the International Floorball Federation (IFF) Rules of the Game (Edition 2014). In any instance where the rules stated in the Competition Regulations and Rules and the IFF Rules of the Game (Edition 2014) are in conflict, the rules stated in the Competition Regulations and Rules will take precedence. In particular the following IFF rules will not be fully enforced and only applies as much as practical: 104 substitution zones 201 regular game time, 203 extra time, 204 penalty shots after extra time 301 players, 303, part 1) particular regulations for goalkeepers, 304, part 1) particular regulations for team captains, 305 team staff, 307 secretariat 401 players equipment, part 1 and 3), 404 particular team captain s equipment, 407 stick, part 1), 408 referees equipment, 409 secretariat s equipment This then means for example that the following points differ from the IFF rules of the game: Game time will be as per the competition regulations A team can have a maximum of 16 players To start a game, a team needs to have 4 field players and a goalie. A goalie is allowed to be subbed and then continue as field player in the same game Teams need to have matching shirts/colours, numbers are preferred but not mandatory. Shorts and socks should be matching as much as possible. Players are allowed to use non IFF certified sticks, however the equipment must otherwise comply with IFF rules (e.g. hook of the blade, etc.). 5 5.0 COMPETITION REGULATIONS 5.1 Players are allowed to represent one (1) team only in the tournament. The transfer of players between teams is not allowed during the tournament. 5.2 All teams need to represent a school and players of each team need to be enrolled full time at the school of representation. 5.3 Composite teams are permitted under the following conditions: all other eligibility rules regarding age and attendance are met not more than two schools are involved in the make-up of a composite team the principals of the schools that the students attend agree one principal accepts responsibility for the composite team the team will be called by a name that indicates that more than one school has contributed players 5.4 Composite teams may proceed all the way through the event and podium but the NZSS Champion will be the top finishing team from a single school. 5.5 Players need to be under the age of 19 on To play in the U15 grade, players need to be under the age of 15 on There are no restrictions to new students or foreign students. 5.7 Students in year 7 and 8 of the same school are allowed to participate in the tournament. 5.8 Team lists will need to be submitted either via post or to Floorball New Zealand, 1 Earn Place, Island Bay, Wellington or to contact@floorball.org.nz by 22nd March 2018, with a maximum of 16 players. 5.9 Teams in the mixed category require a minimum of 2 girls on the court at all times The match schedule of the competition shall be determined by Floorball New Zealand Preliminary games: Round-robin games of 2 x 12mins points for a win, 1 for a draw The last two (2) minutes of each game will be played as effective time only if the score is within 2 goals. 6 5.12 Play-off games and finals: x 12mins The last two (2) minutes of each game will be played as effective time only if the score is within 2 goals In the event of a draw, extra time of 5 (five) minutes will be played, as effective time. Extra time playing system is a golden goal, where the first team to score is deemed the winner. Should scores remain level at the end of extra time, then a penalty shoot-out will take place (IFF Rules of the Game, 2014) If a final is played as a two game series, then the winner is determined by the overall score across the two games. Should the overall score by a tie after the second game, then extra time of five (5) minutes will be played as per point The first game of such a two game series can end in a draw. Results from the round robin will not be taken into account for final placements. 6.0 GAMES GENERAL RULES 6.1 All games are to start at the scheduled time. 6.2 To commence a game, teams must field 4 players and a goal keeper. 6.3 If a team is unable to produce the required number of players at the scheduled starting time, the clock will start and a goal will be awarded to the opposing team for every two (2) minutes after the scheduled start of the game. 6.4 If a team is unable to produce the required number of players ten (10) minutes after the scheduled starting time, they are deemed to have forfeited the game and a 5-0 result will be recorded. 6.5 If neither team is able to produce the required number of players, then penalties under rule 6.3 will only begin to apply when one (1) team produces the required number of players. If neither team is able to produce the required number of players ten (10) minutes after the scheduled starting time, then both teams are deemed as forfeited the game and a 0-0 result will be recorded. No points will be awarded to either team. 6.6 Warm-up will cease at the 1 st warning siren (2min prior to the match start) and balls collected immediately. The match time will start at the scheduled game time regardless of whether both teams are ready or not. Floorball New Zealand Secondary School Floorball Championships

7 7.0 RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEAMS 7.1 Teams are also responsible for their spectators at all times during the tournament. 7.2 Each team is to nominate a captain who is responsible for completing and signing the Match Record after each match. 7.3 Teams are expected to behave in a sportsman like manner at all times and keeping the venue tidy. 8.0 PROTESTS and COMPLAINTS Floorball New Zealand will nominate three officials (including at least one FNZ committee member) who shall act as the jury and decide in matters relating to protests during the competition. Sanctions imposed by the jury are final as far as the duration of the competition to which they apply is concerned once due process of appeal is exhausted. The protest must be made in writing on the official Protest and Complaints Form which will be made available at the Tournament Officials Desk and submitted to the Tournament Directors Desk. Timings for protests or complaints will be as follows 8.1 Referee must lodge a complaint if the incident occurred during a game before the game sheet is signed off. 8.2 Referee must lodge a complaint within 60 minutes if an incident occurred immediately (within 15 minutes) after a game. If the incident occurs after the day s activities have completed or when the referee is not in the arena then it must be reported before the first game on the next day commences or if the tournament has finished within 24 hours of the incident. 8.3 Persons accused of a complaint should be provided with a copy of the complaint and the opportunity to present their case before the decision is made. The person will need to be available within the 60 minute timeframe or else they will only have an opportunity to present their case as part of an appeal. 8.4 Protests by teams relating to the game result or incidents during the game must be made within 60 minutes from the completion of the match. 8 9.0 UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR Unacceptable Behaviour Floorball New Zealand will not tolerate unacceptable behaviour. Everyone participating has the right to play without being subjected to such behaviour, and has an individual responsibility to treat others fairly. Captains/Teams will be held accountable for their failure to take reasonable steps to prevent unacceptable behaviour by a member of their team or supporters. This could result in the loss of points, forfeit or other sanctions imposed by the competition jury. Unacceptable behaviour is behaviour that, having regard to all of the circumstances, would be offensive, belittling, abusive, or threatening to another person or adverse to morale, discipline or team cohesion, or otherwise not in the interest of floorball in general.
