1 ADVANCED FOOTBALL TRAINING CLUB WELCOME PACK SEASON 2017/2018
2 Chairman's Welcome Welcome to Advanced Football Training Club On behalf of all of the coaches, committee and volunteers of A.F.T., I would like to thank you for choosing our club and offer you a very warm welcome. AFT is a newly formed football school, which aims to provide quality football coaching for children of different ages and abilities. Our philosophy is to provide a pathway for young people to develop their love for football in a safe environment. Our coaching program will not only provide long term player development, it will also give your child the opportunity to make new friends, work towards learning new skills and improve technique whilst having lots of fun at the same time. The committee, managers and coaches are all volunteers and are committed to investing time and effort in all players that join with us, whatever their ability, to help introduce them to football in a well-organised, safe and enjoyable way. We want to ensure that every child that joins us has fun playing football and develops their skills to be the best they can possibly be. To achieve this, all coaching is by qualified coaches who are trained to a minimum of FA's Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football and have been screened for their suitability (C.R.C.) for working with children. Our training sessions are designed to spend time with a football to develop confidence before progression starts. Sometimes we underestimate how quickly the children progress and their grasp of offside traps at such a young age is testament to this, to attend our sessions so that they can observe and provide feedback. Our coaches are encouraged to increase their qualifications so as to improve all aspects of football coaching. As a spectator, parents/carers of a child at Advanced Football Training, we need your active support to help us, whether this is by bringing them to training on time and with the correct kit, or supporting them in matches, your involvement is very important to us. It only takes a little bit of commitment to make a big difference to your children and without this help we couldn't continue to function. Coaches or parent assistants are always needed. We will train you if you wish, or just support you for giving us and your child a helping hand. Don't just watch your child develop through the next 10 years, get involved and enjoy the time with us and them. However, we remind all spectators that we adhere to FA Best Practices and FA Respect Programs. The enclosed information within this pack, details important information about the club, but I would like to highlight the Respect part as an important note. We can at times forget that they are children playing a game and we have a responsibility to let them enjoy the experience. As Chairman, I am very much looking forward to the new season and watching the development of our teams. Deon Denny Club Director
3 1. An Introduction to Advanced Football Training Football Club Advanced Football Training Football Club was founded in January 2017 by Deon Denny. Our club is affiliated with the Berkshire FA; this gives us support and advice, plus covers insurance and relevant documentation. In summary, it gives us a level to work to that benefits all involved with the Club. We are now working towards becoming a FA Chartered Standard Club. Today AFT currently has two teams playing in the Reading/Berkshire League both of these teams are in the U13's. 2. Club Officials Chairman Vice-Chairman Treasurer Club Secretary Child Welfare Officer Deon Denny Salem Pal Gregory Denny De'Onne Thompson-Springer / Paula George Peter George 3. Annual General Meeting Each Year we will be holding our Annual General Meeting, which will be held in July. All parents are encouraged to attend, and all contributions are well received. At the meeting, the committee stands down and re-elections take place. All future events are discussed and new ideas are welcomed for fundraising etc. We are always looking for parents to get involved and what better way than to join the Advanced Football Training FC Committee. Your club, your opportunity! 4. Training All players are expected to attend weekly training sessions. The sessions normally last between 1 and 2 hours and will always be outdoors. There is no charge for training for registered players for outdoor training. A charge will be made to unregistered players who do not wish to play in the league but just participate in the training sessions. 5. Matches & Tournaments Advanced Football Training Football Club play in the Reading/Berkshire Youth League. Football Kits All players are required to wear team football strips. The strip has to be in the colours of Blue/White. Team kits are replaced approximately every 2 years. The football kit will include: shirt, shorts and socks. The design of the football kit is the committee's choice and will last for at least 2 years. Shin Pads and football boots must be supplied by parents and are not the responsibility of the Club. Shin pads must be worn by all players in training and during match play. All kits remain the property of Advanced Football Training Football Club and are to be handed back if you choose to leave the club. 8. Health & Safety It is important that during training and matches that the player has plenty of fluids - especially in the warmer weather. Sun cream should always be worn during the hot summer weather; players should also bring a hat to protect the player from the sun when they are not playing in the game. Suitable footwear and shin pads must be worn during matches and training. It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to ensure their child has available at all times, any inhalers or epi-pens that have been prescribed. It is part of the Referee's role to inspect footwear, shin pads and jewellery before each and every match. Any player not removing jewellery (including necklaces, rings, bracelets, leather bands and earrings) will not be allowed onto the field to play. It is the coaches' decision to remove players or suspend play if there are any health and safety issues. Please
5 advise the coach if your child has been suffering with any types of aches and pains before or after the game. 9. Sponsorship Any form of sponsorship is greatly appreciated by our teas. Often sponsorships come from companies where the players' parents are either employed or own. It is also a great way to advertise and shows support for young people in sport. If you would like to be a sponsor for the Club, please contact us for details. 10. Opportunities The Club is always looking to encourage parents to be part of the Club. Parent helpers are vital to the success of the club. Any parent wishing to become a coach/manager will be supported by the Clubs committee. FA Level 1 coaching is a minimum requirement and this is funded by the Club. We would also welcome anybody wishing to become a referee; again the Club would support this with the relevant FA courses. 11. Presentation Evening Every year at the end of the football season we hold our annual presentation evening. Our presentation evening is a fantastic event where parents and players can socialise and celebrate the Clubs success. This is where you see the smiles on the children as they collect their prize. All players are included and every child receives a training trophy for the hard work that they have put in during the season. For the age groups that play in the league there are individual awards are up for grabs such as; Player's Player, Managers Player, Most Improved etc. 12. Fundraising The Club is always keen to hear from people who have enthusiasm to drive fundraising projects; this does not have to be football based. 13. Club Constitution The Club has a constitution that is reviewed annually and goes into greater depth about the Club structure. This is available as a download on our website or can a copy be requested from the Club Secretary.
