1 Name The club will be referred to as Reading Sharks Skater Hockey Club, or Reading Sharks for short. Aim To be a highly regarded provider of skater/inline hockey for young people within the Berkshire area. Objectives To offer coaching and competitive opportunities in skater hockey To promote the enjoyment of skater hockey To promote fitness and skill development To develop confidence, friendship and teamwork skills To ensure a duty of care to all members of the club To provide services in a way that is fair to everyone Mission To provide opportunities for young people to advance in skater hockey skills in a fun, friendly and nurturing environment. To this end, we will provide Berkshire area children with a skater hockey programme which will develop skills, physical fitness and an enriched enjoyment of the sport. By raising levels of physical activity and improving fundamental sports skills, we will promote a healthy lifestyle to all participants. Our volunteer coaches will provide high quality training and care whilst supporting the development of confidence and team working skills. 2 Membership All members will be subject to the regulations of the constitution and by joining the club will be deemed to accept these regulations and codes of conduct that the club has adopted. Members will be enrolled under full membership; the club will have a maximum of 32 members. All members will be trained in the same way whether they are part of a competitive team or not. New Members New member requests will be added to the club s waiting list. When a membership space becomes available, the management committee will review the waiting list and chose a new member based on the following criteria: Other siblings in the club Ability Age How long they have been waiting for Members will need to provide their own protective gear. Subject to availability, new members can loan equipment from the club for the quarter in which they join. After this period they must purchase the following equipment; Helmet with face guard/protection Gloves Shin and knee pads Elbow pads Upper body armour Stick Hockey skates Neck guard (if league player) Fees Fees will be set quarterly and will be determined by the management committee. New members are required to pay a non-refundable joining fee of 30; in return they will be provided with a Sharks jersey. This jersey will be theirs to keep. Equipment can be loaned from the club. Loss or damage to equipment could result in a charge. Fees are payable in advance and are due two weeks prior to the start of the new training period. If payment isn't received by the deadline set then membership can be terminated. Fees are nonrefundable (unless under exceptional circumstances). League team Team selection for league games will be as fair as possible; the team will play no more than 3 lines of 4 players plus up to 2 net minders and selection will be based on the following criteria: Attitude Commitment (attendance at training) Ability Per match, league team players will be given an equal time to compete.

3 Training Days Members should arrive promptly and be fully dressed in protective clothing and ready to train at the allocated start time. No bags (with the exception of goalie kit) should be brought into the hall. All equipment should be left within the changing rooms at own risk. Coaches are unable to look after valuables (such as mobile phones) for members during training. Valuable items should be left at home or secured in a locker. Entrance to the hall is not permitted until the allocated start time. We ask that members leave the hall promptly after training. Behaviour Members are expected to treat each other with respect. The club will not tolerate any misbehaviour. This includes (but is not limited to): Being rude to a coach or team member Using any form of violence Leaving the hall without permission Failure to wear full protective clothing If a coach feels that a member has misbehaved then they will be requested to have time out. Spectators Spectators view training at their own risk. The club is not responsible for spectator safety. We advise parents of young children/babies to sit in the annex where possible. Management Committee Officers The management committee officers will manage the club. Chair, Coach & Welfare/Child Protection Officer: Vice Chair & Vice Chair & Secretary, Treasurer & Matt Lovegrove Paul Bishop Chrystal Mortimore Angela Bishop Committee officers will be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting. Officers have a right of vote at meetings. Committee officers will meet once a quarter to discuss club business and any changes recommended by members, coaches, parents and others. During these meetings they will be responsible for adopting new policies, codes of conduct and rules that affect the organisation of the club. The management committee will be responsible for disciplinary hearings of members who infringe the club rules/regulations/constitution and will be responsible for taking any action of suspension or discipline following such hearings. Coaches Coaches will be elected by current coaches and committee officers. They will work together to organise training and game tactics. Coaches will join committee meetings. 4 Finance All club monies will be banked in an account held in the name of the club. The treasurer will be responsible for all finances of the club. The financial year of the club will end on 31 st December annually. Any cheques drawn against club funds should hold the signatures of the treasurer plus one other officer. Any decision to spend money should be agreed with the treasurer and the chair/vice chairs. Annual General Meetings The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will receive a report from the chair and a statement of the accounts. Nominations for officers of the Management Committee will be sent to the secretary prior to the AGM. Elections of officers are to take place during December annually. All committee officers, coaches and parents have the right to vote at the AGM. An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) may be called when an issue arises. Discipline and Appeals All complaints regarding the behaviour of members should be submitted in writing to the chair or secretary. The management committee will meet to hear complaints within 14 days of a complaint being lodged. The committee has the power to take appropriate disciplinary action including the termination of membership. The outcome of a disciplinary hearing should be notified in writing to the person who lodged the complaint and the member against whom the complaint was made within 7 days of the hearing. There will be the right of appeal to the management committee following disciplinary action being announced. The committee should consider the appeal within 7 days of the chair or secretary receiving it. Dissolution A resolution to dissolve the club can only be passed at an AGM or EGM through a majority vote of the committee. In the event of dissolution, any assets of the club that remain will become the property of the BRHA. Amendments to the Constitution The constitution will only be changed through agreement by majority vote at an AGM or EGM. Disclosure and Barring Service All club committee members and coaches will be DBS checked.
